To miss E?

Might be all the stress in the world at the moment but it’s made me think about what I’d give for a couple of doves and the clammy hands that come with them. Don’t think my heart could take it now Sad

a couple of doves
Haven't heard or seen that term in years.

When and where shall we all meet?

capricorn12 · 27/09/2020 22:26

Whatnext2018: yes I was a Hacienda regular but a bit older than you. I went to uni in Leeds from 92 to 95 so was also a Back to Basics girl and Vague if anyone remembers that place.

SheilaWilcox · 27/09/2020 22:28

E was never my thing. I think Zammo must have got through to me.
Clubbing in the 90's though... Smile

These days I'd settle for being able to drink without a 4 day hangover!

MrsToothyBitch · 27/09/2020 22:28

I was too young for that- and never been one for substances but my god I miss being the age where a night out was a proper night out. I miss having the energy and stamina to dance all night and then party after - in stupid shoes as well, the confidence and metabolism to wear a mini dress out and having a body that bounced back within hours. I just miss how carefree I was.

Current hobby still involves all glamorous night partying (and quite a few coke heads) and a buzz off the happy chemicals from the dancing, but it's not the same as being 18, bright eyed, fresh and unstoppable. And convinced that going out without a coat in January was sensible!

PleaseGodLetItEnd · 27/09/2020 22:29

These days I get The Fear after two consecutive nights of moderate sofa drinking. A proper comedown would probably finish me off.

You’re not wrong though.

clocktwelve · 27/09/2020 22:29

@Whatnext2018 I used to go to Bowlers all the time. Best nights of my life. There is a reunion next April (if it goes ahead). Got our tickets :). I think there are a good few thousand old ravers going!

Evileyecherry · 27/09/2020 22:31

Yeah - it’s hardcore 🙄

LaurieFairyCake · 27/09/2020 22:31

Not keen on drugs

But I would LOVE to get pissed as fuck with no consequences/hangover

I would love it so much

StarCat2020 · 27/09/2020 22:32

People die taking E’s yet you miss it? Wow.
Correct, people do taking E but the much media hyped death of Leah Betts from ecstasy was down to her drinking far too much water (hypotraema, wrong spelling) rather than the actual ecstasy.

I remember being shocked that the Government and media at the time kept the lie going.

ChelseeDagger · 27/09/2020 22:33

I used to have the idea that when my kids were eighteen or so I would introduce them to E and we would all do drugs together in the living room, you know to get them used to it Blush

Devlesko · 27/09/2020 22:33

I know somebody who nearly died, was in a coma didn't think she'd pull through, she was a prostitute.
People take drugs all the time, always have and hopefully always will. Grin
Although weed is the pleasure of us middle aged who still like a hit.
I never did E's as was older by then, but heard all the fun.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 27/09/2020 22:33

I’m with you OP. Could count on two hands how many times I did pills/MDMA but still would be my drug of choice over alcohol or anything else if I wasn’t old and risk averse. That rushing-wave feeling of coming up isn’t easy to replicate.

LetsBeSensible · 27/09/2020 22:35

@Whatnext2018 Sankeys Soap and Paradise Factory?
I haven’t had a drink since March. I accidentally sipped a cocktail a few months ago and felt ill....

thepeopleversuswork · 27/09/2020 22:36

YANBU

BatShite · 27/09/2020 22:37

Purple hearts and mitzi's. This thread is seriously taking me back..was only 15 years ago for me, feels like a lifetime!

BatShite · 27/09/2020 22:38

@Bluewavescrashing

The comedown, though 😳😱
I never got this part. All my friends did.

While they were feeling horrific and sorry for themselves, I got this weird..kind of half buzz for the whole next day. They hated me for this, probably in the way that I hated people who didn't get hangovers..or maybe more!

Maybe this is part of why I miss it so much, as I never got the downside that most I knew got.

Toontown · 27/09/2020 22:38

I had a sneaky night in 2019 after a 20 year break. It was amazing.

NC4Now · 27/09/2020 22:38

Have a listen to The Raver with Meera Syal. It’s the second in the Battle of Rave podcast on BBC Sounds.
‘She’s Mrs Ordinary now, but would she take a pill again?’

Charleyhorses · 27/09/2020 22:41

I was never into drugs as a kid. Im saving all of that for retirement when I will need it.

UnaCorda · 27/09/2020 22:41

@Newfornow

Eh??
E, not Eh.
UnaCorda · 27/09/2020 22:44

@mumsiedarlingrevolta

I don't know what that means?
Seriously? Hmm I've never taken drugs in my life - not so much as one puff of a spliff - and I still worked out what the thread was about from the title.
LetsBeSensible · 27/09/2020 22:44

@BatShite I had that just once! It was amazing, yeah like a half-buzz, like a reverse hangover it was so good, I just kept waiting for the inevitable crushing comedown and it didn’t happen. Try as I might to re-live that, it never happened again.

Flapjak · 27/09/2020 22:45
