To those on hear who are very “anti” I do understand in a way - we have “drugs are bad” thrown down our throats a lot, and it is a subject that seems very easy to take a stance on.
But it is very easy to take your “information” from the media, movies etc. There is no doubt whatsoever that heroin/crack etc etc are horrific paths to go down. But this thread has been about E - which in my experience is a different kettle of fish (and yes, I know that just because I’m going on my own experience and circle of friends, it’s not definitive). E has a very different effect compared to what I call the “horror” drugs.
I started raving very early 90’s. The scene, compared to now, was SO different. Most of us stopped early 00’s roughly - the main reason being that the quality of it had gone really downhill. Pills had become MUCH cheaper, but it was really obvious that the product wasn’t as good. Those that are “anti” can you picture a “druggie” that turns down a hit due to quality?
There are some drugs that should be blasted off the face of the earth. But I completely agree with those posting to say that MDMA, produced in the right circumstances, with tax being paid and all precautions in place, should not be dismissed as an idea. The hidden world behind this is truly vile for those “working” in it. Taking some of that power away from them could maybe benefit those “working” for them, but would definitely benefit today’s youth.
Although I have nostalgia for those days, there is no way I’d do anything again. Mainly due to my health (definitely not related!), but other main reason due to the decline in quality from nearly 30 years ago. I don’t have kids, but if I did, I would NOT be happy thinking they might be doin* it. Not because I am a hypocrite, but again down to quality. If there was a legislated way of buying a known product, and they wanted to try, then I’d hope that I could be open and understanding with them.
I think there was quite a specific point in time, for a lot on here reminiscing, where it was almost a “perfect storm”. Product quality, new music, no social media, no judgement on what you were wearing in a muddy field or sweaty London club! All of those aspects are gone now, so can really see why the “anti” posters don’t understand - nor do I expect them to. They weren’t there, how could they? But I do think a lot of people need to challenge their thinking slightly - not all drug taking equals scenes out of Trainspotting and a huge burden could be reduced by legislation of some drugs - leaving resources to focus on the truly vile ones (and the whole exploitation of those involved).
Anyway! For those that stuck through reading this - am around to offer a head massage whenever you need a quick break 😂
