*Terre!

Tunnocks34 · 24/09/2020 20:32

S: Crispy calamari (rings only I don’t like it squid shaped) with garlic dip.

M: fillet steak, cooked rare, with thick home made chips, peppercorn sauce. green beans/broccoli with a dusting of Parmesan on the side.

Cheeseboard: no blue cheese, but Brie, smoked cheddar, Camembert etc with all the trimmings.

Drink: bottle of red - preferably Shiraz or Merlot. Anything but Malbec tbh even though I know technically it goes well with steak.

underneaththeash · 24/09/2020 20:38

Foie gras pate
BBQ lobster
Cheese plate inc moody ash goats cheese.
Champagne.

In reality, I don't eat foie gras pate as it's not very nice for the poor goose, I only eat lobster once a year as it takes them 25 years to get to the size we'd eat them. I eat cheese a lot.
I have no other issue eating other animals that are killed and kept humanely though (apart from our lovely fluffy bottomed chickens - ho will be pets long past their laying season)

1questionshootout · 24/09/2020 22:09

Chablis on tap.

S: Caesar salad with no faffy additions like red onion or slices of orange!
D: zander/ sandre, a river fish I’ve enjoyed in Europe but can’t get here, asparagus along with any veg, and skinny fries
D: sticky toffee with salted caramel ice cream.
2nd D: cheeseboard with good blue cheese and a glass or 2 of port.

PunkStrumpet · 24/09/2020 22:09

Aperitif: two enormous dry gin martinis, olives and warm cheese savouries and a glance up my wife's dress showing a glimpse of her stocking tops.

S: caviar, mostly the big red salmon stuff, freshly salted with a little sevruga, blinis, sour cream and all of the trimmings (gherkins, onion, boiled eggs etc.) iced high quality vodka

M: A huge rib of beef, aged to the point of lesser mortals wanting to throw it away, savagely roasted so that the outside is crisp and dripping, rested until there is a purple and moist interior. Sliced thinly and warm onto greens that soak up the juices with fresh horseradish cream, frites and a jug of the roasting juices and some fresh bread. To drink, a hugely expensive Bordeaux or Australian red selected by someone that knows their shit.

D: Creme brûlée in a large, shallow dish as per the real Cambridge Burnt Cream, a thick, crisp crust, some sun warmed strawberries and raspberries and strawberries on the side. To drink, a Sauternes by the same expert that picked the red. Plus my lovely mum has to be there for the pudding as we have had a creme brûlée pact for the last 30 years Grin

Natsel84 · 24/09/2020 22:12
