To strongly dislike Nicola Sturgeon right now?

Here to rant that Nicola has gone one step further and banned meeting in homes. She always feels the need to one-up Bojo, and hasn’t even given the rule of 6 she introduced last week a chance to see if it’s working.
Interested to know what the English think - do you think she’s taken it too far, or Bojo hasn’t taken it far enough?!

Seems like such a disparity that in England you can meet with 6 other households indoors and here none 🤯😡🤬😭😭

Well funny enough since lots of things such as health are devolved to the Scottish Parliament lots of things Boris says doesn't apply to Scotland

Exactly

MotherHeyho · 22/09/2020 21:44

Interesting that you only want to know what "the English" think, Op. Is it because you already know that the vast majority of those in Scotland fully support what she is doing? Just take a look at the opinion polls. You are in a minority, love. Funnily enough, a lot of people living in England wish she were in charge down here, too, and who could blame us.

NannyOgg66 · 22/09/2020 21:48

Boris has done more for the SNP and Scottish independence in the last few months by his behaviour and handling of Covid crisis. Scotland will get independence. I don't think it is a great idea to break up the union but I don't blame Scotland at all, or Wales for wanting to get away from Westminter, Boris and his bunch of arseholes. I suspect Boris (Cummings) is still going for herd immunity on the quiet. My husband is a Scot and he thinks the same although he doesn't think it will be great for the UK. It's sad that Nicola Sturgeons shoes etc get discussed when there are more important things going on.

SoPanny · 22/09/2020 21:48

I completely get where you are coming from OP; I’ve wavered in and out of admiration and annoyance up until she absolutely clobbered Aberdeen with a three week lockdown yet when the same happened in the West she let Glasgow have much lighter restrictions imposed because of what can be no other motivation than political.

And that’s where my patience with her dried up.

2pinkginsplease · 22/09/2020 21:48

Our area has been on a local lockdown, so not much has changed with these new restrictions that have just been announced .

I’m pretty anti social , so I’m glad we can’t visit and that people can’t visit us! Suits me perfectly! 😂

StoneofDestiny · 22/09/2020 21:51

I can't see his shoes

Let me remind you - he made his shoes very visible for all to see and comment on.
Fortunately most of us were just despairing at the inadequacy of the bloke, even getting self publicity spectacularly wrong.

I don't really care who like Nicola Sturgeon but you do realise different restrictions were brought in because Covid was being spread in hospitality areas but in homes in Glasgow. It wasn't political, there was a reason for the different approach.
IncandescentSilver · 22/09/2020 21:52

Stone of Destiny I work in higher education and have been made redundant once due to Scottish Gov policies. This latest round of restrictions makes it quite likely I'll be made redundant again

Of course, there have been no redundancies in England, Wales and NI. Roads are just perfect too. You need to travel more!

  • hospitality areas in Aberdeen.
Lockdownseperation · 22/09/2020 21:55

Do under 12 still not have to socially distance in Scotland? This is much more generous than England.

StoneofDestiny · 22/09/2020 21:58

Incandescentsilver

what difference does that make?

No, they don't.
AnyFucker · 22/09/2020 22:01

Is discussing shoes or suits, good bad or indifferent, any worse than endless ruminating about this virus ?

It won't change anything. I would dearly love to give Ms Sturgeon some fashion advice though.

daisychain01 · 22/09/2020 22:02

@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun

I think she has taken it too far and Boris not far enough. For a lot of people these new restrictions in England won't make much difference and we still have the relatively new freedom to meet 5 people from 5 other households inside.

I think it should be two households inside with a sensible number limit like maybe 10 and up to 6 outside from 6 households (or 10 from 2 households) but I know that is really complicated to police which is why they haven't done it.

Who'd be so daft they'd go to a house with people from 5 different households at a time like this with every media outlet reinforcing how people should be behaving during this crisis. That would be absolute madness.

Yes, I know if people want to be utter arseholes about it all, then I suppose they will, but hopefully the majority of people will take a step back and change their behaviour because its safest for them, their family and others.

SallySeven · 22/09/2020 22:02

Oh I liked the suit well enough.

Boris is a sartorial disgrace.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 22/09/2020 22:03

'But when NS makes different decisions based on Scotland's different circumstances, she's engaging in one-upmanship not just, you know, responding to the ever-changing circumstances of the country she governs?'

But she always gets her little jibes in. I remember in the early days she chucked a strop because Johnson announced something before she did. Sturgeon is so petulant, I bet Boris cba with her, he never reacts to her goading. There was the whole 'stay alert! what does that even meeeeeean?'whine then she used 'stay vigilant' or something very similar. She is in charge of somewhere with the population of Yorkshire.

SallySeven · 22/09/2020 22:03

My mum just always says " that hair!" If Johnson is mentioned tbh.

Mamawell81 · 22/09/2020 22:04

BJs suit in the announcement was awful.

Grey?

SoPanny · 22/09/2020 22:05

@IncandescentSilver

I’m intrigued as to what you think about Rutte’s approach vs England vs Scotland?

Every time I go on de Telegraaf etc the news from NL seems in a similar vein to that of here but without the screamy tone and dramatic “a big announcement is coming tomorrow” shit.

Although it seems NL’s cases are rising in a similar fashion to ours

Whilst I think the best argument against Scottish independence is the SNP, the handling of the crisis by the First Minister has been light years ahead of that by the UK Prime Minister.

Travis1 · 22/09/2020 22:08

Not think if people just toed the line and used their brain we wouldn’t be in this situation? But noooooo it’s all Nicolas fault 🙄 I agree with those who mention misogyny it is so abundantly clear with the way she is spoken about, would you ever hear a man referred to as ‘wee nippy’? The connotations of that are perfectly clear - just a moaning woman.

Now is the perfect time to ‘push independence’ I think it’s highly fucking clear how far apart a large number of Scots feel they are from their English counterparts. I can only hope and pray it’s something that comes in my lifetime but I doubt it given the Tory stronghold in England. I’ll never give up hope though, Soar Alba 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

That's spectacularly vague "pretty sure she said something and then something else". Come back when you have something specific to criticise her on! Plus who gives a fuck what the population size is? Scotland is a country with health decisions devolved. Should we just not bother to make our own decisions because we're too wee?
lyralalala · 22/09/2020 22:11

@WinchesForFinches

I absolutely despise her OP. Mass-murdering witch. We have to adhere to her dictatorship, so that she appeases to her voting democratic. She was pretty quick to lockdown Aberdeen (who hate her) but not Glasgow (who vote for her)

Says it all really.

The difference in lockdowns has been explained numerous times.

Aberdeen's spread was in hospitality areas so she had to lock them down. Glasgow's was in houses so people were banned from each other's houses.

Giving the exact same solution to different scenarios would have been bloody stupid.

Amortentia · 22/09/2020 22:12

Christ, I had no idea that so many people were upset about a lock down in Aberdeen. Or, that those same people struggle to understand why a different approach was taken elsewhere.
