To strongly dislike Nicola Sturgeon right now?

Here to rant that Nicola has gone one step further and banned meeting in homes. She always feels the need to one-up Bojo, and hasn’t even given the rule of 6 she introduced last week a chance to see if it’s working.
Interested to know what the English think - do you think she’s taken it too far, or Bojo hasn’t taken it far enough?!

Seems like such a disparity that in England you can meet with 6 other households indoors and here none 🤯😡🤬😭😭

It's baffling that people are so upset at NS about the Aberdeen lockdown and not the fuckwits (the footballers among them) that caused it to happen.

sonicbook · 22/09/2020 22:16

It’s just the injustice that makes me mad. It’s not been that bad up here really and yet we’ve always had it stricter.

Hmmm wonder why we might not have had it as bad 🙄 ffs

SoPanny · 22/09/2020 22:16

@Amortentia

Christ, I had no idea that so many people were upset about a lock down in Aberdeen. Or, that those same people struggle to understand why a different approach was taken elsewhere.
I don’t know, how about Aberdonians?
fluffyugg · 22/09/2020 22:19

I think the travel restrictions annoyed Aberdonians as that was unrelated to hospitality and wasn't a restriction seen in Glasgow etc

GetOffYourHighHorse · 22/09/2020 22:19

'That's spectacularly vague "pretty sure she said something and then something else". Come back when you have something specific to criticise her on! '

OK, let me be clearer/repeat myself. She was furious over Johnson's 'stay alert' message spluttering that it made no sense and 'what did it meeeeeean', then her message was 'stay safe'. Very similar, no? Do I need to go through it again for you?

LagunaBubbles · 22/09/2020 22:20

She was pretty quick to lockdown Aberdeen (who hate her) but not Glasgow (who vote for her)

Yet another person who clearly doesn't understand the difference in mode of spread. Or maybe they do and just want to criticise her anyway.

soupmaker · 22/09/2020 22:21

@WinchesForFinches you lost me at "mass murdering witch". That's a ridiculous comment and says more about you I suspect than NS. Biscuit

redlockscelt · 22/09/2020 22:22

England have consistently been the also ran compared to the podium finishes of the other 3 UK nations. It wouldn't surprise me if the other 3 closed their borders and kept the English out.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 22/09/2020 22:23

Can't stand her, she really does my head in and gets way too much media coverage in England. If she's doing such a great job why has Scotland (pop. 5.5 million - covid deaths 2,506) fared worse than South West England (pop 5.3 million - covid deaths 1,893)

Brefugee · 22/09/2020 22:26

Yeah to be fair he does usually copy what she does a week later. It’s just the injustice that makes me mad. It’s not been that bad up here really and yet we’ve always had it stricter.

hmmmm i wonder why that might be...

Quickchange5 · 22/09/2020 22:26

I think it’s a shame they couldn’t get their heads together and come up with one nice clear set of rules - 4 different ones just gives people the chance to claim confusion

The stay alert was brought in specifically to tie in with Dominic Cummings outings coming to light. They could not continue with the stay at home message. The move to stay alert was political and I'm not surprised Nicola Sturgeon was raging. At that point the UK gov behaviour was appalling.
taraRoo · 22/09/2020 22:27

Scotland, Wales and no have devolved parliaments. This is just the way it is. You can't rightly criticise her approach without speaking up about other nations if you are so concerned about Covid. Why are you focusing on her end not n.i and wales ? They have stricter rules.

I'm sorry but there is lots of misogyny revealed on this post. The reason people hate Nicola is because she is a strong woman who doesn't blindly follow her 'superior' in England. It seems to really bother people that she advocates for Scotland and doesn't just do as she's told. If she was a man she would not be putting up with disgusting comments about her looks and calling her 'wee jimmy crankie'. Nor would she be be criticised for using her own best judgment (as is her duty) for the population she serves. Two weeks time Boris will ban houses mixing ... Mark my words.

In fairness to Nicola, Glaswegians can be a law unto themselves. I say that with partial fondness, as I am one originally, and went to uni there. There are pockets of deprivation in Glasgow; areas where folks wouldn't give a shite about wearing face masks or socially distancing.
It doesn't surprise me that of both Glasgow and Edinburgh, it's the former having greater problems.

I beg to differ about people in pockets of deprivation @eatsleepread
I was in a restaurant in a very posh suburb of Glasgow last week and quite honestly the golf club brigade appear to have a very different interpretation of the rules. Hmm In fact not surprised at all that some of the posher local authority areas are leading the charge in relation to Covid cases!

SBTLove · 22/09/2020 22:28

Jesus wept these threads are getting tedious. You do know she is taking advise from medical and scientific advisers and her cabinet, she’s not making this up herself!
What would you rather? no restrictions?
rising numbers linked to households, half the country inviting every man and his dug round, what did you think would happen??

SentientAndCognisant · 22/09/2020 22:30

This could be an interesting thread,an insight into many experiences & pov
Instead it’s a shrill pile in, and inane criticism
She’s a mass murdering witch
Funny hair
Does yer heid in
Look at her clothes

Christ Alive is that best commentary some of you can muster

Browneyesbigbum · 22/09/2020 22:32

This

I saw a tweet that summed it up for me - England says pubs to shut at 10pm, Sturgeon announces pubs in Scotland to close at 9.55pm.

Indeed, she is very petty.

BrazenlyDefying · 22/09/2020 22:34

And "she's doing better than Boris" is hardly something to be proud of. My 14 year old can speak more clearly and with less bluster than Boris.

If I hear her say " let me be very clear" or "unPREEcedented" one more time...

imfatletsparty · 22/09/2020 22:37

"She is in charge of somewhere with the population of Yorkshire."

And?

LagunaBubbles · 22/09/2020 22:37

Roll on May.

RasberryRoyale · 22/09/2020 22:37

I don’t like Nicola Sturgeon as I don’t like her running of Scotland. I don’t like her as she’s a liar and she doesn’t respect the democratic process.
It’s nothing to do with her gender. I didn’t like her predecessor for the same reason.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 22/09/2020 22:38

'Two weeks time Boris will ban houses mixing ... Mark my words.'

He is already doing this in many areas. It wasn't Nicola's idea.

CountreeGurl · 22/09/2020 22:39

Only decent UK politician at the moment! I am hoping for independence so I can beg Scotland to let me emmigrate there from England

SentientAndCognisant · 22/09/2020 22:40

Be clear on pubs it’s a 22.00 close, not 21.55 But hey suits a predetermined agenda to squawk that it’s 21.55

⬇️I saw a tweet that summed it up for me - England says pubs to shut at 10pm, Sturgeon announces pubs in Scotland to close at 9.55pm.

I’d no more trust twitter than I would trust big Tam at the bus stop

It's not that bad up here BECAUSE we've had it stricter. I think we're lucky to have Nicola as our leader right now. She's smart, empathetic and decisive. Boris Johnson and his lot are a bunch of buffoons.
