To strongly dislike Nicola Sturgeon right now?

Here to rant that Nicola has gone one step further and banned meeting in homes. She always feels the need to one-up Bojo, and hasn’t even given the rule of 6 she introduced last week a chance to see if it’s working.
Interested to know what the English think - do you think she’s taken it too far, or Bojo hasn’t taken it far enough?!

Seems like such a disparity that in England you can meet with 6 other households indoors and here none 🤯😡🤬😭😭

@Caplin
Maybe other parties need to show they care about Scotland instead of maintaining their arrogant unionist outlooks. If they have a majority it clearly reflects that this is what the majority want.

StoneofDestiny · 23/09/2020 13:48

Incandescent - no assumption made by me about you, but I have made deductions from what you post. The more you post, the more you support my deductions. What you call others ie patronising/racist etc, is what you clearly are yourself. Nice deflection.
I can’t explain to you anymore - my explanations are as simplistic as they can be made for someone with a narrow view of history, politics and life in Scotland.
You don’t like the SNP / who
Is complaining? Don’t vote for them - nae bother. Free democratic vote.
But it’s not good practice to present your chats with your like minded pals as the latest Mori Poll.

MintyMabel · 23/09/2020 13:49

is a country that is traditionally left leaning and with a strong belief in helping those who can’t help themselves.

This may be the case on a macro level, but take it to a more individual level and you’ll find there are just as many people willing to let the vulnerable struggle.

The apparent “open mind” suggests we don’t have an issue with racism, homophobia, attacks on people with disabilities. We do, and not just in isolated cases. It is no less a problem here than in any other part of the U.K.

SBTLove · 23/09/2020 13:49

@ConstantlySeekingHappiness
I do find it odd that @IncandescentSilver chooses to live in a country she has such contempt for, I certainly wouldn’t.

Caplin · 23/09/2020 13:55

@SBTLove I for one think there is enough chaos without another 5+ years of constitutional navel gazing. After Indy 1 and Bexit I have had enough. People whose kids need decent schools don’t have the luxury of waiting 5 more years. People living in crap homes don’t have the luxury of waiting 5 years.People in need of social care don’t have the luxury of 5 more years. SNP are failing badly on all of these while they obsess about Indy2. They need to fix the things they are in control of.

IncandescentSilver · 23/09/2020 13:58

Maybe the SNP supporters could post a list of things which you are allowed to say in Scotland, or about Scotland? Since it seems that offence is do easily taken.

I've never lived in a country where you aren't supposed to criticise the government before, or doing so leads you to be made to feel unwelcome. It's actually considered fairly normal and healthy to be cynical about governments and politicians, given that they are generally there to further their own ambitions about power and control.

This hero worship of leaders is nauseating.

I didnt realise that Scotland was so intolerant of opposing views. How sad.

LagunaBubbles · 23/09/2020 14:00

The people PP was referring to were the cult followers, not the more recent converts who think being able to speak well = great handling

Anyone that calls a moderate day political party , even one they disagree with the politics of, a cult clearly

I’ll take statistics over anecdata every time

Take what you like, Im in the NHS day in and day out and hear what people are saying.

LagunaBubbles · 23/09/2020 14:02

Oops a bit disappeared, meant to say "clearly is reduced to name calling and thats a bit sad."

SBTLove · 23/09/2020 14:02

@IncandescentSilver
It’s not intolerant when you are calling the supporters of the majority party ‘brain dead’, your comments are just rude and offensive.
@Caplin have you missed the £100ms of investment in nursery provision and schools?
Maybe if we could keep all our revenue it would help eh?

IncandescentSilver · 23/09/2020 14:04

Oh gawd SBTif that's how easily offended you are, I suggest you grow a sense of humour before going out in public again! How fragile you must be...

No one want to comment on the EU situation then?

ConstantlySeekingHappiness · 23/09/2020 14:11

Oh was the ‘brain dead’ comment meant to be a funny joke requiring a sense of humour?

I don’t get it.

Please explain what part was meant to be funny. I might laugh this time.

StoneofDestiny · 23/09/2020 14:12

WaxOn Well I'm, Scottish and live in Scotland and I have little respect for a sizeable amount of the population - surely that applies regardless of where you live? The part of the population I have no respect for varies in amount and type at any given time

Indeed, true. However if my lack of respect for, tolerance and criticism of the people I chose to live amongst outweighed any advantage of living amongst them, then I’d move to somewhere that troubled me less. Simple - pursuit of happiness and mental well-being.

Caplin · 23/09/2020 14:14

@SBTLove I am a board member for a young person’s charity and know the heads of education in most local authorities, they are at their wits end as curriculum for excellence is mince and they are chronically underfunded. I also know health workers who were pretty disgusted with the derisory pay increase this year. They have been useless on housing, again I have worked closely with leading housing charities.

I’m keen to know whilst all this isn’t happening why they under spent their budget for the last couple of years. They had a £450m surplus last year....maybe saving it for Indy ref2....

Howslifenow · 23/09/2020 14:18

Scotland has cases in low tens in July. Now it's 486. Highest for the pandemic. They have given away all the good work done earlier.

LagunaBubbles · 23/09/2020 14:19

We got 3% roughly in April as the last year of a 3 year pay deal under Agenda for Change. I dont think it was derisory (although always could be better but the health budget as all budgets comes from Westminster) and the unions have reopened a clause within it ith the SG because of Covid that may lead to a further increase.

IncandescentSilver · 23/09/2020 14:48

Make way for the faux-offended... They've run out of constructive comments!

LagunaBubbles · 23/09/2020 15:06

They've run out of constructive comments!

Because comments about her shoes, hair, voice, Jimmy Krankie and cults are so constructive eh. Hmm

Srictlybakeoff · 23/09/2020 15:10

@IncandescentSilver

Make way for the faux-offended... They've run out of constructive comments!
Do you even understand what “ faux” means. I am not faux offended - I am offended. I don’t see you making any constructive comments - just deliberately goady sweeping generalisations. It’s sad that you need to be so ignorant and unpleasant .
IncandescentSilver · 23/09/2020 15:11

I haven't made any such comments, except about her voice and that was regarding her delivery. She does grate.

I have however been told to fuck off and had my nationality constantly commented on, while simultaneously being told I'm not allowed to talk about it.

I suspect they are now hovering over the "report" function.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 23/09/2020 15:13

I'd be much happier with the SNP if they spent more time / money sorting the mess that is education, the NHS, the Police and less on IndyRef. But that IS their raison d'etre after all I guess?

I'm curious about which proportion of the SG budget you think is being spent on 'IndyRef'?

The thing I find most bizarre is listening to the Scots Tories endlessly shouting and bawling about 'No to Indyref', while simultaneously complaining it's the SNP who are obsessive. At the last GE my local Tory leaflet featured no fewer than 21 separate references to 'Independence', 17 to 'Sturgeon', yet the SNP equivalent contained one singular reference to Indi. This is the way of it. It saves the opposition parties in Scotland actually having to come up with any credible, workable policies of their own.

I'm yet to encounter anyone who can actually tell me what the Tories or Labour are actually proposing to do to fix the Scots health and Education sectors that their supporters are claiming are a shambles.

AshenQueen · 23/09/2020 15:23

@IncandescentSilver was your comment about how if Scottish people were educated they wouldn’t support SNP a joke too then?

I find it strange that you are accusing others of being xenophobic or racist whilst in the same breath making these sorts of comments.

AshenQueem I do believe it was someone else who said that. I commented, in some detail, about the peoblems within Scottish Higher education. Why don't you go and read it and comment back to me on this? Do t you consider higher education in Scotland important?

Is this constant nit pickng, trying to quote words which you may find offensive, the best SNP supporters can do?

By the way, race laws protect those who are a minority in a country, not thuse who make up the majority of the population. Thats why what was said to me was so offensive. I'm surprised you need that pointing out.

AshenQueen · 23/09/2020 15:37

IncandescentSilver, apologies if I’ve mixed up the brain dead comment with the one I just referred to, they were very similar so I must have got confused.

And I am a minority in a country so no, I don’t need anything explained. Being told to do some travelling as your comments don’t make sense, are not the same as calling the majority in Scotland brain dead though and I’m surprised you need that explaining.

SBTLove · 23/09/2020 15:54

@IncandescentSilver
I think you did indeed make nasty comments
Bonus question - why are SNP fans so patronising? Don't they realise that it puts off all but the brain dead to their cause?
Nothing you’ve said is amusing or constructive, why live in a country where you despise the population and the government, I certainly wouldn’t.
Do you in your ‘intelligence’ not think ppl will be offended by your stream of criticism and ignorant comments?
You certainly don’t come across as intelligent, very intolerant and rude would be more accurate.
