To strongly dislike Nicola Sturgeon right now?

Here to rant that Nicola has gone one step further and banned meeting in homes. She always feels the need to one-up Bojo, and hasn’t even given the rule of 6 she introduced last week a chance to see if it’s working.
Interested to know what the English think - do you think she’s taken it too far, or Bojo hasn’t taken it far enough?!

Seems like such a disparity that in England you can meet with 6 other households indoors and here none 🤯😡🤬😭😭

Bear in mind that she can be stricter with things because if Scotland's economy does poorly she knows she can rely on us in England to bail them all out in some way or another

LagunaBubbles · 22/09/2020 23:31

Wales and NI are not shouting for independence like she is

So? Shes the First Minister of Scotland her party the SNP exists based on wanting independence. Not sure what your point is, all of us in Scotland them support them and want the same should just shut-up?

Oh ffs. Scotland has plenty and pays PLENTY to England. If we were that 'poorly' Why doesnt England cut the ties.
neveradullmoment99 · 22/09/2020 23:34

In fact, if you do your research you will find that Scotland pays way more in than it gets back.

I was just thinking tonight how Sturgeon always goes one "better" than Johnson.

But also stricter measures are now coming into Scotland so I guess what she's doing in Scotland (England Plus?) isn't necessarily working that well either?

LagunaBubbles · 22/09/2020 23:36

Yes because Scotland doesn't pay any money into the UK pot at all eh you would think Westminster couldn't wait to dump us as we are such a drain....mmm

PercyKirke · 22/09/2020 23:39

As an Englishman, I know nothing of Ms Sturgeon and care less.

Notfeelinggreattoday · 22/09/2020 23:39

@LagunaBubbles my point is to the people who were saying people only dislike her because shes a woman , i was stating why people dislike her for other reasons thats my point
Personally i don't care less if scotland becomes independent or not as i don't live there

LagunaBubbles · 22/09/2020 23:45

Still don't see how saying that Wales and NI aren't "shouting for independence" is relevant to that?

Aridane · 22/09/2020 23:46

It’s just the injustice that makes me mad. It’s not been that bad up here really and yet we’ve always had it stricter.

Re-read what you typed.

Cause and effect!

Notfeelinggreattoday · 22/09/2020 23:47

@LagunaBubbles because people were saying only Ns is mentioned and not wales and NI as they are run by men , and people only disliked ns as she is a woman as they were not complaining about bi and wales rules being different

HannahStern · 22/09/2020 23:48

If you care so little, it is rather odd that you opened this thread and bothered to reply.

England Plus?

It's like bingo on this thread

ConstantlySeekingHappiness · 22/09/2020 23:50

The lack of understanding of how a devolved nation works is truly staggering on this thread.

Seriously. Please educate yourselves. Stop reading the Daily Mail.

Notfeelinggreattoday · 22/09/2020 23:50

@neveradullmoment on checking that fact it is actually not true according to what i have read ??

Pixxie7 · 22/09/2020 23:52

I think she has done the right thing.

LizzyMac40 · 23/09/2020 00:01

As I have said before. I have met her, and she is as hard As nails. A better leader than the current Tory twat. NS will never backdown and will always fight Alba’s corner. Do not underestimate this woman. She really is a force to be reckoned with:

giggly · 23/09/2020 00:10

I am always genuinely curious if the NS haters are all royalists as so many comments are venomous ?
Also who do the haters think would have done a better job for Scotland and how?
It’s all too easy to have a pop at independence, I’ve not heard much other than the health of the country/ economics unless I’m watching a different briefing from other peopeHmm
And as for the alleged one up man ship, seriously who wouldn’t take a pop at Boris et al and their constant fuck upsSmile
One last thing to note. NS has not gone off on holiday to Greece/Italy/Scotland since COVID kicked off she has at least put her job before her own/ family needs.

IncandescentSilver · 23/09/2020 00:19

Don't you think Scotland would be better with someone more...personable? Statesmanlike? Rather than shouty and rude? I know its the "hard as nails" image that makes Scotland a laughing stock with my Danish and German friends. I can't really imagine her sitting round a table with all the West-Rhenish model premiers and using that awful delivery. She couldn't even hold down a job in Brussels or Amsterdam, the way she carries on.

I always find the fact that most SNP supporters fail to recognise the juxtaposition between SNP-led legislation which is entirely in breach of EU competition law and their supposed support for EU membership. The latter perhaps magically hoisted to the petard of the accelerated entry procedure, which was done with the former Iron Curtain member states and which still took 12 years from application to completion, as well as huge financial resources from the EU. Is it the accelerated entry procedure that SNP supporters refer to, or is it the standard entry procedure, which can take much longer?

I must admit, my favourite bit of black humour in the White Paper on Independence last time around was when that question and answer format asked whether an independent Scotland was going to be a signatory to the ECHR, and the answer was that they had no plans for that but there would be a "Scottish version of the ECHR". Because obviously Scottish people can't be trusted with a full blown version of all those freedoms and rights, and need state control over what they're given!

I have a feeling that Shetland and Orkney might not particularly enjoy being referred to as "Alba" either...

I suggested to my friend, who is a lawyer with the Danish Government, not entirely jokingly, that Denmark could offer all Shetlanders and Orcadians Danish citizenship with all the benefits but no tax payable, and eventually not only could they become EU citizens again, but that Denmark could take back Shetland and Orkney. As it would sure as hell be better for them to get a tenth of what the Faeroe Islands gets than what they get from being part of Scotland.

rainshinewind · 23/09/2020 00:20

@Loobyloo71

Yeah to be fair he does usually copy what she does a week later. It’s just the injustice that makes me mad. It’s not been that bad up here really and yet we’ve always had it stricter.
It might be the other way round. It's because you have it stricter that it is not so bad there...Smile

I have strongly disliked Nicola for a long time.

I think she’s storming this. I am so glad that we have her.
