To strongly dislike Nicola Sturgeon right now?

Here to rant that Nicola has gone one step further and banned meeting in homes. She always feels the need to one-up Bojo, and hasn’t even given the rule of 6 she introduced last week a chance to see if it’s working.
Interested to know what the English think - do you think she’s taken it too far, or Bojo hasn’t taken it far enough?!

Seems like such a disparity that in England you can meet with 6 other households indoors and here none 🤯😡🤬😭😭

'She is in charge of somewhere with the population of Yorkshire."

''And?'

Oh I cba. Google demographics, population density and infection transmission. I'll give you a clue, it should be easier to control in a smaller, less dense population.

GabriellaMontez · 22/09/2020 22:41

There are millions of us in local lockdown in England who haven't been able to meet inside for ages.

And just as many in areas with very low levels.

lyralalala · 22/09/2020 22:42

Jesus wept these threads are getting tedious. You do know she is taking advise from medical and scientific advisers and her cabinet, she’s not making this up herself!

Exactly.

It's hilarious that three of four people getting advice from the same people are apparently doing it wrong (NS apparently the most wrong) and Boris, of all people, is apparently being gazumped and one upped by them all for political reasons...

LizzyMac40 · 22/09/2020 22:42

Nicola has outlasted how many English PM’s? I have lost count. She has stood the test of time unlike that blonde idiot Johnson who flew to Italy with a non existent child. She doesn’t fluff her lines every 2 seconds. I have met her and she doesn’t mince her words. What she says goes unlike Johnson who keeps turning his tail back and forwards because he doesn’t know what he is doing or how to be in charge.....waiting for the onslaught from BJ supporters...whatever, he is still rubbish at being PM.

woofwoof1880 · 22/09/2020 22:43

Nicola is just doing Karen Walkers 102 point plan.

Will & Grace fans will get the reference.

neveradullmoment99 · 22/09/2020 22:45

@Loobyloo71

Yeah to be fair he does usually copy what she does a week later. It’s just the injustice that makes me mad. It’s not been that bad up here really and yet we’ve always had it stricter.
Surely that is the whole point?
neveradullmoment99 · 22/09/2020 22:46

Basically it is so that schools can stay open. If children catch it and bring it home, it stops there.
I can see the reasoning behind it and it makes sense to me.

BrazenlyDefying · 22/09/2020 22:49

Why can't the SNP faithful realise that it's entirely possible to strongly dislike BOTH Sturgeon and BoJo?

It's not an either/or scenario.

Tinks15 · 22/09/2020 22:51

Can NOT stand Nicola, always trying to get one up on our government. How she is in charge I will never know!
Makes me laugh how people constantly moan about what the government is doing, yes we might not agree with everything necessarily but he’s doing what he feels right at this moment in time, no matter who is in charge people will always find something to moan about.

And Nicola Sturgeon isn't doing what she thinks is right at this moment in time?
jacks11 · 22/09/2020 22:58

If you are going to something about transmission, then you need to look at where transmission occurs. If it is shown that most transmission happens when people are in others houses, then that is where restrictions need to be placed. Though it can lead to rules which seem incongruous- can’t see my mum in her home but could meet her in the pub (before 10pm), for instance. But what’s the alternative? Ignore the evidence rejecting to where transmission is most likely?

I’m not usually her biggest fan and I do think some of the rules are confusing, conflicting and seem (it are) inconsistent.

Or alternatively just doing her job.

neveradullmoment99 · 22/09/2020 23:02

I don't get the pub thing. Could people not go to pubs earlier?

Srictlybakeoff · 22/09/2020 23:02

@IncandescentSilver
Nicola takes he4 advice from the Scottish Advisory group- not a GP and a dentist. And Prof Pennington said he didn’t think there would be a second wave earlier in the year . So maybe he doesn’t get everything right

neveradullmoment99 · 22/09/2020 23:02

Boris is an absolutely incompetent idiot.
Nicola Sturgeon has done well.

Onemorefortheroad · 22/09/2020 23:04

Can't stand this idea that she goes for 'one upmanship' she doesn't need to, she is a different league to Boris.

Talks to people as humans, isn't threatening people with the military and fines, just trying to appeal to people to act like adults and take some responsibility. Has stood up there daily sharing the facts, clear reasoning as to why we are doing what we are doing.

Cannot understand the dislike for Nicola, for the most part she's been doing a great job and has probably had very little time off, unlike the UK PM....

Notfeelinggreattoday · 22/09/2020 23:06

Your comparing a country with 5/6 million people with one that has closer to 60 million
Parts of england have the no meeting in homes where cases are
I thinj if cases start rising in parts of england that have lower cases he will change the rules on meeting indoors
But lets be honest its a rule that is hard to poilce

Onemorefortheroad · 22/09/2020 23:07

"But also, a lot of SNP’s rhetoric is anti-England and ‘we’re better than them’, so yes, I do think there’s political one-upmanship at play here too"

Struggle to believe you have listened to her daily briefings or speeches in parliament if this is your view as this is a really unfair reflection 🤨

Gottheteeshirtandlostit · 22/09/2020 23:08

Love Nicola. She's doing a great job in terrible circumstances. I get that if you're a unionist you probably find her threatening but a lot of the ranting about her on here reeks of internalised misogyny.

ktp100 · 22/09/2020 23:14

Think she cares a lot more, to be honest.

Amortentia · 22/09/2020 23:15

What's this obsession with Pennington? He was an academic who retired 20 odd years ago. I'm pretty sure his field was bacteriological too. If you pulled out an 82 year old, who retired that long ago and asked them for current scientific advice anywhere else in the world people would think you were nuts. But he's the go to man for Unionists. 🤣

Notfeelinggreattoday · 22/09/2020 23:15

@GetOffYourHighHorse people can't seem to understand controlling the virus in scotland and wales may require different restrictions than england due to population and keep comparing
More people in england actually aren't allowed to visit others in there homes than in scotland and haven't been for a few weeks

sweetkitty · 22/09/2020 23:18

Nicole is far from perfect but she’s doing a far better job than that bumbling incompetent idiot in Westminster. He cannot even answer a direct question

“Wrapping our arms around the people of Britain” more like your rich, hunting mates and sod the plebs who are loosing their jobs or dying.

Notfeelinggreattoday · 22/09/2020 23:23

People also call boris all sorts if names ns is disliked by many as it appears she dislikes the english
Wales and NI are not shouting for independence like she is
To imply its purely misogyny isn't totally true and a fair few posting in her will be women
Bj is called all sorts and so was Corbyn , Starmer will be next

Nosenseofhumour · 22/09/2020 23:25

@Onemorefortheroad totally agree. She's careful not to mention independence despite goading by some press questions. The tone of some of the comments on this thread make me despair. "She's copying him". "She's only doing it to score points". "We call her Jimmy Krankie". Like how original, no one's ever said that before 🙄 Agree or disagree with her politics, that's legitimate and to be encouraged. Silly personal comments are misogynistic and don't do the commenter any favours.
