to ask if you have a fantasy single life and what happens in it?

Mine involves a permanently clean house, probably a cottage- I have a squashy armchair, coffee pot always on the go and a good book- I have a huge bed with loads of cushions and duvets and quilts. There's quiet, and whatever I want to eat (or not if I just want cereal)
I'd miss DP terribly- I really do love him but I like my little fantasy

Goodness yes. I live by the sea in a clean, tidy, light cottage, with a lovely garden (because I have time to work in it). I work from home doing my current job. I have time to read all the books I want to read, and I go for long walks along the coast so am slim and healthy.

I would probably miss my family and friends far too much (the sea I want to live by is about 7 hours drive away), but it's a lovely fantasy. One day I'll go on holiday on my own and live it, just for a week :D

Davespecifico · 22/09/2020 10:54

Same as the above. It would be in Devon, Cornwall or Dorset. I would have like minded friends. I’d be about half an hour from the airport and comfortably off so I could fly somewhere warm if it took my fancy.

NameChange84 · 22/09/2020 10:55

Lol I’m the opposite...36 single and childless and very lonely and depressed about it.

I have daydreams about waking up next to a gorgeous, loving man, stolen kisses in the kitchen, about bedtimes and bath times with toddlers with chubby hands and knees and smiley faces sticky with jam, jumping in puddles, feeding the ducks, first days at school, Sunday morning family cuddles in the big bed, a little crumpled face shouting mummy and running to me for cuddles to make it all better with they fall over, magical Christmasses, holidays to Disney with hunky hubby with AMAZING arms teaching our babies to swim in the resort pool etc etc

Yep, I know it’s totally rose tinted glasses but...whatever gets you through the day right?

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 22/09/2020 10:58

I would be living in a camper van or maybe on a canal boat, and going from place to place when the mood took me, selling my paintings when I needed money, no phone, no internet, just freedom sounds blissful.

RHTawneyonabus · 22/09/2020 11:00

My fantasy is a a lie in on my own. A proper one until like half 9 or so. With coffee pastries and OJ and the paper. But it’s not going to happen any time soon.

hilariousnamehere · 22/09/2020 11:02

Lol I'm living it! (And yes, it's much better than relationships for me)

My own colourful little house, no schedule, and time to do whatever I fancy. Also having to put my own bins out and do all the house/life admin but that's a price worth paying for me!

awesomeaircraft · 22/09/2020 11:04

Yep. I am an engineer on a spaceship. Lots of dangerous adventures and missions and conquests, captain Kirk style.

Normal day in the office.

RHTawneyonabus · 22/09/2020 11:05

And sorry Namechange. I posted before I read your post and now I feel a bit bad because I’m very grateful for my wonderful kids and I get how you feel.

ItWorriesMeThisKindofThing · 22/09/2020 11:05

Like yours, OP, living near the sea plus I have magically acquired artistic or literary talent and spend most of my time making beautiful things.

blackcat86 · 22/09/2020 11:05

Nice flat with a balcony overlooking the harbour with a glass of wine and a takeaway curry. No schedule, no rushing, nice bed with a lovely duvet set and watching whatever I want on TV. Bliss

BlackeyedSusan · 22/09/2020 11:08

living near the sea,
own house with garden
tv and big bed to myself.

it would get boring after a while I am sure.

LongPauseNoAnswer · 22/09/2020 11:09

I live in a penthouse apartment overlooking the Mediterranean on the South Coast of France near Cannes.

I've got a beautiful rooftop terrace shaded by oleander and wisteria. In the winter I can sit looking out of my floor to ceiling glass walls so I can still get the sweeping views of the sea. Bliss.

Peanutbutteryogurt · 22/09/2020 11:11

Tidy and clean. That's it, haven't thought beyond that yet.

crochetmonkey74 · 22/09/2020 11:11

This is a great idea!

Right now, due to stress of DD being shafted by that bloody computer algorithm and finally getting a place in a Uni that is good for her, and my job loss, plus no income from DH, also job loss and trying to get a business off the ground- started said business last week of Feb 🤦‍♀️. (That was a looooong sentence.) In my head I am still living in central London and working in the City. Nothing fancy, just meeting friends for drinks and going to concerts/plays.

crochetmonkey74 · 22/09/2020 11:13

I do miss my single life- it is of course rose tinted, but when I feel overwhelmed I do retreat to my little fantasy- I think because it is one less real thing to worry about!

I have a little flat high up stairs that feels like a garret with a big wing chair and loads of books. I get to sit quietly in it enjoying the silence. It's in the city near a huge park so that I can sit in the park if I like but also wander about looking at pretty things in shops and go to museums and do cultural stuff. I have a big bed with white ironed sheets and I get to sleep whenever I like without being woken up by children or having to listen to snoring.

TokyoSushi · 22/09/2020 11:18

Oh gosh yes, I have two. One where I live in a tiny but beautifully clean cottage by the sea in Cornwall. It's decorated in white, and pale pink with silver accessories and I have loads of books and a very pretty garden. I also have a very chic flat in a very expensive part of Central London, I have loads of money so I can afford beautiful clothes and dine out wherever I wish.

In reality I'm a married Mother of two primary aged DC in NW suburbia. I'm very happy, but I can dream!

TheVanguardSix · 22/09/2020 11:21

I'm a neurosurgeon, just wafting around my Labrador filled Villa Necchi, my Milanese home, going for swims in my lavish pool in my downtime. I'm often plotting quick trips down to my seaside apartment outside of Rome.
Or maybe I live in a French farmhouse outside of Fontainebleau forest. Wait, now I'm confused... and missing my kids in this picture.

LunaNorth · 22/09/2020 11:22

Tiny flint cottage in Blakeney.

I get up early, make coffee, sit down and write.

After two hours I go for a long walk.

Have a big pub lunch with a book.

Nap in the afternoon.

Open fire in the evening, bed early, do it all again the next day.

I did it for a week about ten years ago and it was total bliss.

JayeAshe · 22/09/2020 11:27

Living on a boat anchored in the harbour of a fishing village on one of the Canary Islands, warm all the year round, with a tender to get ashore for supplies and visits to the island for walks, beach bar, restaurants and library. Buses to different parts of the island.

Minimal possessions, few clothes.

A voluntary job two days a week. Unlimited access to BBC radio.

This sounds perfect- I think I need a solo holiday!

Oh gosh, love this thread. I have an inheritance from a loving grandfather with which I've bought a modest but lovely and incongruously sunny basement flat somewhere in Sussex. There's a sweet, sexy, successful man who's after me but I'm too happy being happily single to entertain anything but the regular amazing shag!

Rollmopsrule · 22/09/2020 12:05

I'd live in a penthouse in a city. Actually I don't really care about that bit - more interested in lots of no strings sex with a really muscley man.

Jennifer2r · 22/09/2020 12:11

This thread is hilarious.

I'm single and child free but I have an elderly mother two streets away who needs daily care and a 60 hrs a week job and a mortgage and pension to worry about.

I do have time for some of the things in this thread but endless lie ins and 'no schedule or rushing' are still a pipe dream.

I do regularly have no strings sex with muscly men though so I suppose that's one thing Grin
