BJ in Italy?

This claim is all over the news now, but here it is from the original source.

Exclusive: according to an official statement of the Italian airport dated September 17th, the British prime minister “travelled to Perugia over the past few days”. (He aphas visited many times in the past. On this occasion, apparently a long weekend for his son’s baptism)

Official Airport Sources: “Johnson landed in Perugia on Friday 11 September at 2 pm and left on Monday morning”.

Downing Street: “This claim is wrong”

So, either that airport is engaging in massive shit stirring (libel?) or Downing Street is lying and the whole government should resign.

OP posts:
Struckbylightning · 21/09/2020 18:00

I just heard on PM that the airport mixed him up with Tony Blair. Now that IS funny. Grin

SideEyeing · 21/09/2020 18:03

This thread is not what I thought it would be. Sigh.

SerenityNowwwww · 21/09/2020 18:05

@SmellsLikeFeet

Damn, I thought this was going to be a completely different thread
Me too! My mind was racing and making salami pnaaarrr pnaaarrr jokes...
SallySeven · 21/09/2020 18:07

Yes I'd bet it's a technically incorrect statement.

SallySeven · 21/09/2020 18:08

Oh a Tony Blair mix up! I wouldn't have bet on that😂!

SunbathingDragon · 21/09/2020 18:10

Anyone else think threads with this sort of heading have an obligation to live up to the expectation?

BlackForestCake · 21/09/2020 18:22

@AlternativePerspective

This thread has libel written all over it.
You can only libel someone who has a reputation left to lose.
Bravefarts · 21/09/2020 18:32

What's interesting is I'm sure the original press release mentioned BOTH TB and BJ. Which doesn't sound like a mix up to me...

Plus the statements are very carefully worded...

MitziK · 21/09/2020 18:44

@Itsabeautifuldayheyhey

What would be the problem if the Prime Minister did go to Italy for a long weekend for his son's baptism anyway?
Because the son in question wasn't named Wilfred, perhaps?
redlockscelt · 21/09/2020 19:09

@Sugar00

Fake news.

The airport has confirmed that the original press release was confused - they meant Tony Blair, not B J.

Of course! After all they look so similar.
Sugar00 · 21/09/2020 20:24

No need for the sarcasm @redlockscelt

We’re at #Perugia airport, where its President tells us Boris Johnson has not recently travelled through. He’s checked passenger registry. Says airport worker meant to say Tony Blair, not Johnson, arrived on 13th Sept; left 14th. Only UK flights on 11th was Ryanair. None on 12th.

As with just about every other poster, I was expecting this thread to be about fellatio italiano style Grin

I don't believe a word of it, the President is trying to get the PM off the hook.

If I want to use sarcasm then I will, I'm not avoiding it to help promote delusions that the PM is not workshy.

The only commercial flight? Because the Italian newspaper article mentioned a couple of private flights to and from London within the timeframe.
Heffalooomia · 21/09/2020 23:48

Clear as mud 😶

MadameMeursault · 22/09/2020 01:20

I completely hate Johnson but I don’t really see what the problem is if he did go to Italy. It was only for a weekend and travel to Italy is permitted and doesn’t require quarantine.

Discobomb7 · 22/09/2020 04:30

@Nikori

I also thought this was about Italian blow jobs. 😅

I was reading about this on another thread. It's such an odd story and Boris is such a shady character, it's always hard to know what the truth is with him.

I am glad am not the only one! Mind you, isn't fellatio an Italian word?

*Me:

@Pobblebonk
1. That this would be something like his sixth holiday this year at a time when the country is in a massive crisis around coronavirus to say nothing of the Brexit clusterfuck. Also the costs involved in terms of security etc.
2. That it looks suspiciously like the motivation is to meet his rich Russian mate Lebedev than to get his child baptised.
3. The very fact that he seems so desperate to keep quiet about it.
Good job the story was totally false then.

PicsInRed · 22/09/2020 10:07

Hang on, are we saying that both Boris Johnson and Tony Blair flew to Perugia at the same time, possibly meeting there? Groups of powerful people have been known to "quietly" meet before pivotal events and announcements.

Who else was there?
What was discussed?

SallySeven · 22/09/2020 10:07

Sounds dodgy!

AskDan · 22/09/2020 10:09

Is this to do with the supposed super injunction, the rumours about Olga, the rumours about the waitress or is this related to something totally different?

I miss Theresa May and her walking holidays.

SallySeven · 22/09/2020 10:10

And her husband Arthur Askey!

Nikori · 22/09/2020 10:14

Westminster cathedral have confirmed that his son was baptised at a small, private ceremony there on 12th September. They didn't confirm who attended the ceremony though.

The airport has clarified "Records had been checked, and the single passenger on a private flight from Farnborough was “a private citizen and not Boris Johnson”; meanwhile, the enthusiastic PR person had simply confused two British prime ministers, and accidentally made it sound as if they’d both made a trip. And with that, Perugia airport’s brief intrusion into Britain’s political consciousness was over."

It still sounds dodgy to me, but I don't think we'll ever know the truth of the situation.

Aye, because Westminster abbey is clearly lying. 🤪
