BJ in Italy?

This claim is all over the news now, but here it is from the original source.

Exclusive: according to an official statement of the Italian airport dated September 17th, the British prime minister “travelled to Perugia over the past few days”. (He aphas visited many times in the past. On this occasion, apparently a long weekend for his son’s baptism)

Official Airport Sources: “Johnson landed in Perugia on Friday 11 September at 2 pm and left on Monday morning”.

Downing Street: “This claim is wrong”

So, either that airport is engaging in massive shit stirring (libel?) or Downing Street is lying and the whole government should resign.

OP posts:

Perugia is very close to Assisi (of St. Francis) where there is a beautiful basilica. Lovely for a baptism! Though it's Catholic I think, and I don't think BJ is.

SheepandCow · 21/09/2020 11:15

Perhaps he's gone to get a Covid test.
Italy, unlike us, is managing to test everyone who needs one - with quick results too.
(And yes I know he's already had it once but we don't yet know how long immunity lasts.)

Leafbeans · 21/09/2020 11:16

People are allowed to go abroad, aren't they?

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 21/09/2020 11:16

Maybe a " source" saw the name on a passenger list ? There must be another person with the same name

LadyH846 · 21/09/2020 11:16

@SmellsLikeFeet

Damn, I thought this was going to be a completely different thread
Me too. I was thinking the OP needed some input on whether it would be reasonable right now to embark on a particular sex act with a foreign stranger.
Clutterbugsmum · 21/09/2020 11:17

Perhaps he was interviewing for housekeeper/nanny.

Totickleamockingbird · 21/09/2020 11:18

@PerkingFaintly

So, either that airport is engaging in massive shit stirring (libel?) or Downing Street is lying and the whole government should resign.

Third possibility: Johnson landed at 2:05 pm not 2 pm. So Downing Street stating "this claim is wrong" is technically correct.

That's about Cummings' level.

This. ^ They wish to deflect the shit that is coming his way after this Russian oligarch was placed in the House of Lords and promptly sold his shares of influential UK newspapers to Saudis. Incidentally, does Boris Johnson have a son in Italy too? What baptise his son there? BJ really wants to leave now before the Brexit shit hits the fan and it gets far too much for him to bear. He just wants to spend enough time in there to ensure he has a free meal ticket afterwards (lucrative talks, advisory board positions and other similar things).
Nikori · 21/09/2020 11:18

It is a small airport and he has visited before, so you'd think the airport would know if he visited recently or not. It's also odd about the Zoom call that he lost connection in and the cancelled meeting on Monday, but surely there must be records, flight logs or something. But, it just shows how shady Boris is that people don't know whether to believe it or not.

@Dontforgetyourbrolly

His full names Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson isn't it? I can't imagine theres that many of them to the pound (although if he actually officially changed his name to Boris Johnson I stand corrected...)
pastabest · 21/09/2020 11:25

Isn't there some suggestion that Boris makes regular off record/ unescorted trips via Perugia airport and has done for some years?

The papers clearly have a story that they aren't allowed to print around this but the airport making this statement (in relation to something entirely unrelated to Boris) has given them the green light to publicise that Boris is a regular passenger through the airport.

Doesn't matter if it's true on this occasion or not any more. It's out there now.

Poorpigletsrevenge · 21/09/2020 11:27

Surely the airport will age security cameras? So DS would be crazy to deny it if he were there?

Poorpigletsrevenge · 21/09/2020 11:28

*have, not age

SorryImKnew · 21/09/2020 11:28

Can't imagine there are many CofE churches there for a baptism. Italy is predominately Catholic, but maybe there is. It's a beautiful city on a hill though.

Bluntness100 · 21/09/2020 11:28

It’s out there now? It’s going to Italy not eating small puppies.

That’s mad. He’s allowed to go to italy. Why would he lie about it.

LesLavandes · 21/09/2020 11:29

Blimey. So what? I'm sure he had line to Westminster.

SorryImKnew · 21/09/2020 11:30

Haha, I see where you're going with this.... Hmm. Lots of beautiful young ladies there for those who appreciate the female form...

Bravefarts · 21/09/2020 11:31

Of course he's probably nipped abroad.

A PP will be right- it'll be the nit picky stuff that's wrong, like the exact time he was in the airport.

listsandbudgets · 21/09/2020 11:34

Alternativeprespective Are BJ’s different in Italy to the UK then?

Well yes... one is vastly superior to the other Grin

FatCatThinCat · 21/09/2020 11:34

Why does this matter? Is it just the pr issue of him fucking off on holiday again? Or is there more to it?

DominaShantotto · 21/09/2020 11:40

Is this the more upmarket version of bumsex at Centerparcs?

herecomesthsun · 21/09/2020 11:40

The signorina idea has legs. Probably very nice ones.

kirinm · 21/09/2020 11:41

@Leafbeans

He really shouldn't given the state of the country he is meant to run. But I think this is do with who he was seeing. Ex KGB mate.
kirinm · 21/09/2020 11:43

Ignore that, I'm sure I read something about Russia but can't find it now.

Friendsoftheearth · 21/09/2020 11:49

I don't think Downing St would lie and say so clearly it did not happen, so fake news I imagine.

That said I wouldn't actually blame him, the Scottish tent in force ten gales with burly farmers telling him off for having a BBQ (surely the point of a camping trip!) looked no fun at all with a small baby! Didn't they cut it short for security reasons - or thats their story. They would be far more welcome anyhere in Italy is my guess!

This thread has libel written all over it.
