Why on earth do people put a up photo on here asking if they look good for their age?

I fully expect an article in the Daily Mail incoming with lots of women of a similar age pointing out they look better. Why would you do this to yourself ?

Aah, cos some of us have a touch of vanity about us, not least me Blush

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 20/09/2020 18:47

For an ego boost.

It never works on here though, everyone who replies on those threads adds about 20 years on.

It's hilarious 😂😂

Peasbewithyou · 20/09/2020 18:47

No idea. I always assume it’s either because they think they look a-mazing for their age, or they are mean and put up someone else’s picture. It’s odd for sure.

Attention seeking.

Putting up photos of your face on an avowedly anonymous forum is an odd kind of power play ...

ComDummings · 20/09/2020 19:01

They want an ego boost.

sitckmansladylove · 20/09/2020 19:03

blatant fishing for compliments

I agree. I find him hilarious 😂 one women said she was 42 and people said late 50s to mid 60s 😂
Potterpotterpotter · 20/09/2020 19:04

Them not him😂

SorryImKnew · 20/09/2020 19:05

I suppose they think they look younger than they are and want compliments.

pinkpetal2 · 20/09/2020 19:06

I think some people genuinely want to know. I'd be interested to see how old people thought I was but I have no balls so Nah.

dudsville · 20/09/2020 19:07

Well, it's the internet. A wide range of people use it, sometimes for things that I wouldn't. I usually have a look at the pic!

Igotthemheavyboobs · 20/09/2020 19:07

Please don't tell me I have missed a recent one!

SecretWitch · 20/09/2020 19:07

I find it so desperate but I’m magnetically drawn to them. It’s even funnier after they have the thread deleted when it is not going as they hoped.

thecognoscenti · 20/09/2020 19:30

It's a pathetic attempt at fishing for compliments, and is best ignored.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 20/09/2020 19:52

Well I enjoy a touch of attention seeking occasionally.

I'm a flawed being – unlike many of you it would appear Blush

Laiste · 20/09/2020 20:23

I would imagine 99.9% of the time it's exactly what it looks like: simple old fashioned fishing for compliments. Bit sad. And all the weird gushing ''oh God you're so amazingly gorgeous'' posts just encourage the next one thinking of doing it.

None of them ever look any younger than they end up saying they are.
Nice skin, nice eyes, nice hair even - all very well, but the neck and jawline always gives it away i'm afraid.

dingledongle · 20/09/2020 20:31

Vanity
Narcissism Wink

eatsleepread · 20/09/2020 21:31

It is very attention-seeking, particularly when the poster doesn't divulge their age until around 100 posts have passed!
I must admit though, that the comment 'well, you have more wrinkles than me, so I guess __ (insert wildly increased age)', makes me want to smash the person's face in Grin I mean, there's no need to be rude about it.

ShebaShimmyShake · 20/09/2020 21:33

I always wonder if they're stolen pics of someone they don't like, hoping for a pasting.

Stinkyguineapig · 20/09/2020 21:35

If I wanted to be insulted about my appearance I can just ask my DC or DH rather than out myself on an anonymous forum!

WettnWild · 20/09/2020 21:44

They all want you to say they look 25 when they’re at least 40 but it never usually goes that way.
A small child asked me if I was my DD’s childminder the other day and I said I was her Mum. She was shocked and said I don’t look old enough (I definitely do) but hey ho, validation from a 6 yr old is all I need for an ego boost!

Stripesgalore · 20/09/2020 21:47

Almost everyone thinks they look younger than they do.

I do work out people’s ages based on whether they look older or younger than me based on wrinkles, as I’m most familiar with my own face.

Batshitbeautycosmeticsltd · 20/09/2020 21:50

My ex boyfriend used to do this. Until one time he asked a drunk woman and she told him he looked like a fugly 40-year-old munter. And she was right! Grin

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 20/09/2020 21:50

Fishing for compliments

Who cares what a bunch of people you don’t know thinks about what you look like or how old you look

It’s very needy
