Why on earth do people put a up photo on here asking if they look good for their age?

I fully expect an article in the Daily Mail incoming with lots of women of a similar age pointing out they look better. Why would you do this to yourself ?

I ask the question not because I feel contempt or anger at people doing it.

I'm genuinely bemused. The other day sometime posted a photo and if they had said they were in their 50's I would have agreed they looked good for their age.

It turned out they were in their late 30's.

If I had commented it would have been unkind and as the person is probably insecure it would have been mean.

So what is the point? Very few people are going to be harsh so you are not going to hear the truth.

A bit like asking a friend if you've put on weight. You won't get an honest answer and deep down you know if you have or not so what is the point ?

@Stripesgalore

Maybe the reason I find it so annoying online because of all the many times in real life someone asks me how old I think they are and I have to subtract 5-10 years from the truth to satisfy their vanity. If they seem really narcissistic I might say they look 15 - 20 years younger.

So when 50 year olds come on here saying everyone thinks they look young for their age I am not going to lie and say 40. Because I am sick of having to do it at work.

I am also suspicious of posters who give low ages in the answers on these threads because I think they are pretending to themselves 50 looks 40 so they can also think they look young for their age.

I have literally never been asked this in real life, let alone multiple times. Why is it happening to you all the time at work? Maybe they keep asking because they know you'll say 20 years younger!! Although I can't believe anyone actually thinks you're serious, tbh.

Maybe you work in a different job with different kind of person? I work in retail.

I posted in style and beauty about this a while back.

Here is my post...

‘I started working with someone who obviously had a lot of Botox. She kept saying everyone thought she was a lot younger than she was and asking me how old I thought she was.

I thought she looked 40 and would usually take 5 years off (to be polite) but as it was so important to her I said 30.

She was very angry as she said people usually said early twenties. I felt really awful because it was a new job. She was 38.’

Shecwas angry that you only thought she was 8 years younger!!

Some people need to confront the inevitable ageing process far more than they need to get rid of wrinkles
