To not want an unlicensed Covid vaccine that govt and pharma would have no liability for?

colouringindoors · 18/09/2020 20:29

This consultation closes tonight.

While I am totally pro vaccination, the govt are proposing to:

a) distribute an unlicensed vaccine (hasn't gone through full testing).
b) remove any liability for negative side effects from pharma companies and government.
c) let vaccine be administered by non healthcare professionals (scope unlimited).

These regulations will be put in place for Covid vaccine, but not limited to Covid.

If unlicensed medications are safe,

  • why are they so rare
  • why is the government removing all liability for any side effects/adverse reactions from pharma and government.

I'm not saying its definitely a bad thing.

Just making people aware of the scope of this new regulation.

The vaccine WONT be optional if you want to participate in life. That's why they are talking about a vaccine passport. Without it you won't be able to do many things.

The world economic Forum has launched The Great Reset and goes into this in detail.

SnackSizeRaisin · 18/09/2020 20:57

OP I think you have misunderstood what this is all about. If you don't want it you don't have to have it.

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/09/2020 20:59

I can inject narcan. If it saves someones life and it's easy to do, who cares?

Who is talking about a vaccine passport? Seems very unlikely...

UnaMujer · 18/09/2020 20:59

@colouringindoors I’m repeating myself but do you have a link to any evidence that the vaccine won’t be fully tested.

Also unlicensed medications are not rare at all.

I too would like to see this.

I clearly pressed quote instead of report 🤦‍♀️

Gancanny · 18/09/2020 21:07

You were very polite about it though and not at all wrong in what you said.

Porcupineinwaiting · 18/09/2020 21:07

What things wont we be able to do without a vaccine passport?

colouringindoors · 18/09/2020 21:10

No I don't. Where would I find such information?

Unlicensed medications may still be undergoing clinical testing.
Unlicensed medications have often only been tested on adults.

Yes it's all optional. I'm aware.

colouringindoors · 18/09/2020 21:12

Thanks Butterer I wasnt aware of that.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 18/09/2020 21:13

The problem is that we need people to trust this vaccine to ensure adequate take up

movingonup20 · 18/09/2020 21:14

Unlicensed doesn't mean what you think - it means we could purchase a vaccine which has been licensed in another part of the world (eg EU) without putting it through tests here.

tilder · 18/09/2020 21:15

I'm all for a vaccine passport. Would get me back on a plane if I knew everyone had one.

Although that's probably not the response the op was looking for.

movingonup20 · 18/09/2020 21:18

And the individuals they want to draft in to give covid vaccinations (to 65 million people) include vets, I trust them more than most drs, if you can vaccinate my squirming dog who will bite if my grip is lost, you can vaccinate humans!

TheLastStarfighter · 18/09/2020 21:19

You weren’t aware of the guidance on intended audience, which is clearly written in the consultation that you linked to, which you are complaining hasn’t been publicised, and is therefore a conspiracy????

Sorry, what was your point again? Hmm.

This is anti-vax nonsense.

GwendolineMarysLaces · 18/09/2020 21:22

@TheLastStarfighter I think you mean 'vaccine-hesitant nonsense' Grin

Porcupineinwaiting · 18/09/2020 21:22

@Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow do we? As far as I'm concerned, once everyone who wants one has been vaccinated Im happy for the rest to go try COVID out for fun if they like.

TheLastStarfighter · 18/09/2020 21:23

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 18/09/2020 21:24

Injecting someone does not require a doctor or nurse. It requires training. Many parents have to be trained to inject their children with insulin or growth hormone for example.

If you dont want it, no one will make you have it.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 18/09/2020 21:26

Unlicensed have often only been tested on adults

Wonder how many on mnet have given omeprazole to their babies (hint: me and many others). Its not licensed for under 12m.
