There's a few but one I see often that just makes me Hmm is 'what if they were your kids?'.

It's obviously always said in response to someone who is not the child's parent and therefore surely a completely pointless argument?!

What others do you always see and eye roll at?

OP posts:

There is a lack of understanding or compassion shown to anyone that lives a life that may be different to your own.

iluvgab · 23/09/2020 14:08

Can't stand any of the competitive under-eating stuff.
There was a thread a while back about how many pizzas to order for x number of friends coming round and it was totally ridiculous.
1 slice is more than enough etcetc.
No wonder there's an obesity problem if people are sharing a large pizza between 4 people - that would be enough for 6 blahblah

And the HUGE salad stuff is usually accompanied by at least one person saying that salads aren't healthy if they have dressing on them/cheese/meat in them and that's why people are obese.

"Lots of veg/veggies" and variations on that theme annoy me too . Don't know why - I get irrationally angry about it.

I hate that discussions on weight, smoking and alcohol always end in a fight.

DieSchottin93 · 23/09/2020 14:21

The use of the word livid.

woofwoof1880 · 23/09/2020 14:33

I alway hate it when there is a thread the that OP left days ago but there are still two people arguing with each other on it. If the OP no longer cares why are two strangers so invests that they arguing about some hypothetical situation on line?

DillonPanthersTexas · 23/09/2020 14:53

The amount of utter bollocks posted on such threads though is something to behold

"Well I only ate leaves and dust for a month and still put on 3 stone so I know that diets don't work'

"Please read the whole thread before posting."

I haven't got the time or inclination to read 607 messages and counting, so sorry if this one has already been said.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 23/09/2020 14:58

The problem with food threads is that some people who’ve seen a couple of ‘Is Sugar Killing You?’ documentaries think they’re practically dieticians as a result. The kind of people who act like natural sugar in a nectarine is on the same level as a bag of Haribo.

froggygoneacourting · 23/09/2020 15:11

There was a terrifying thread recently where the OP was clearly suffering from anorexia and was starving herself to a worrying level, and loads of posters jumped in to say it was loads of food, don’t be silly.

Do these people realise that anorexia can be fatal? That it can do real damage telling someone who skips meals everyday or only eats a small piece of fruit that actually they’re eating loads (which an anorexic person would perceive as over-eating and a message to starve themselves even more).

Eliza72 · 24/09/2020 07:07

"Not this again!" Yes- this again!!!! Apolgies for not being glued to mumsnet and seeing it in the past..

"Educate yourself" a very harsh put down. From where I've seen it used on here, sometimes not necessary 😞

On the other hand, it is reasonable to expect people to read at least the OP's posts before posting, particularly now that it is so easy to do so. So many people dive into a thread to give advice about something that was resolved days beforehand, or when further information and developments make their comments superfluous and indeed ridiculous.

Also, if there are 607 messages I do think it's worth a quick skim because with that number the chances are that the point you want to make has already been covered.

Biscuitmonster2318 · 26/09/2020 03:20

I hate the comment ‘I’m literally shaking’

CountessFrog · 26/09/2020 08:18

Who would say ‘educate yourself’ in real life?!

MN is so often just a place where sad individuals get to act out a version of themselves that they haven’t the courage to be in real life.

DillonPanthersTexas · 26/09/2020 14:09

Yep, often you get some posters who seem to be on here all day and night whilst bragging about how awesome their relationship is with the DP and I can't help but think when do you actually have time to talk to him.

bellajay · 26/09/2020 14:24

@DillonPanthersTexas perhaps that’s the key to their success-don’t speak Grin

I remember noticing someone a couple of years back talking about her ‘very high powered job, male dominated field, six figure salary’ while also being first or second to reply on every AIBU thread I looked at over the whole week. Potentially she had the week off or whatever but I smelled bullshit Hmm

Wishimaywishimight · 26/09/2020 14:44

'Career trajectory'. Honestly never heard this term until MN. Sounds so dramatic, like going from temp receptionist to CEO at the speed of light. I don't have a career, let alone one on a trajectory to anywhere, possibly why I find the term a bit irritating.

Wishimaywishimight · 26/09/2020 14:46

IYSWIM - usually after someone has outlined a perfectly straightforward matter. Yes, I do in fact see what you mean as; a) I can read and b) I'm not thick.

Wishimaywishimight · 26/09/2020 14:57

When someone (like me) with no children is asked why they are on a parenting site like the issue has never been raised before.

Wishimaywishimight · 26/09/2020 15:07

In relation to food - 'delicious and nutritious' just sounds santimonious and as for 'empty calories'. Sometimes I just want wine, fuck protein!

Spiderbaby8 · 26/09/2020 15:27

The attitude to food, "fruit is just pure sugar" er nope

Spiderbaby8 · 26/09/2020 15:41

When a poster describes a minor disagreement with their MIL and someone comes in with "it's going to get worse, go NC right now"

DillonPanthersTexas · 26/09/2020 15:58

' I know I'm not perfect either'

Before going on a 13 paragraph rant about how shit their DH is. I always think there is an awful lot of minimisation in those six words.

nosswith · 26/09/2020 16:04

Some of the abbreviations just seem weird- PIV most of all.

DillonPanthersTexas · 26/09/2020 16:38
