Thanks to the fab PatricksRum for fighting against racism we've got our own board here

Look for black mumsnetters 👍🏿

OP posts:
Phoenix21 · 17/09/2020 10:39

@PatricksRum I’ve been asking Dolphin that same question since yesterday and bar a ‘someone else said that, the post is now deleted’, I’ve not had a verified answer.

Despite I and many other mumsnet tees stating that this isn’t and never has been the case Dolphin (and thimble?) is still stating that only black people can post, that does not include Mixed race people who cannot post either apparently.

PatricksRum · 17/09/2020 10:39

@Phoenix21

Thanks to *@patricksrum* and to all those supportive!
Thank you too!
Tomorrowsanewday · 17/09/2020 10:39

@Wheresthesanitygone

Quaagars and Havaiana you keep repeating that anyone referencing now deleted posts is hearsay and not true, as if this discredits what those posters ( including me) are saying.

Anyone who read the previous threads whilst all the comments were there knows that these things WERE said and that we are relaying what was said. Those threads are now holier than Swiss cheese to quote MN usual thread deletion message.

All you are doing by repeatedly denying these posts existed is discrediting absolutely anything else you say, even if it may be a valid point. If you are prepared to lie about now deleted posts why should anybody believe anything you say?

@PurpleHoodie

If MNetters want an Asian board - for example, they could always ask. Site Stuff is that way >>>>

If MNetters want a Mixed-Race board; Multiculteral families and Site Stuff is that way >>>>

If MNetters are racist gobshites; the door is that way >>>>>>

Well done PatricksRum Flowers
I hope the Black MNetters here - and others interested in Black MNetters queries - get to enjoy another section.

Thank you Smile

On the other hand, we’ve had many plants, cakes and gin offered as housewarming gifts.

Someone offered to play racist bingo, but my liver took one look at this thread and told me to get to fuck. Grin

PatricksRum · 17/09/2020 10:42

@Stripesgalore

‘It is text book racist. Membership is defined by one of the protected characteristics. You only need to turn it around to see if it is racist or not, a board for white people only...?

I am shocked that it has been allowed. And I mean shocked in the sense that I am amazed mumsnet legal advisors have not advised against it as opposed to whether I personally mind (which I don’t).’

You know you are on a site called Mumsnet, right? Are we expecting a legal challenge from men?

I must request for a spotty board.
PatricksRum · 17/09/2020 10:43
@PatricksRum well done and congratulations on achieving this.

I will lurk & learn Smile
Thanks Alpaca. Username rings a bell, maybe from my previous threads?

Thank you anyway

BraveGoldie · 17/09/2020 10:43

Delighted to see the board up and running!

Great job @PatricksRum and everybody else who has worked for this!

I really hope it allows you to build a vibrant space and attracts more black mums to it, and by extension to the main board too. Smile

EchoCardioGran · 17/09/2020 10:44

If you want your own space then ask MNHQ.

Stop bleating into space about it on this thread.

Get off your arse and make the arguments to MNHQ .

It's called organising.

Oh you reminded me! I am gonna do a virtual bingo for us all. Maybe we can base it on this thread.
ProfessorLayton1 · 17/09/2020 10:45

I am Asian and I wholeheartedly congratulate you on this achievementThanks. Wish you all the success.

PatricksRum · 17/09/2020 10:46

@Harryhenderson10

To all the posters calling for a 'white board, for white people' There already is one, just pop along to the KKK forum and I'm sure you'll find your white only space.

Otherwise let's just decide that black people feel the need for their own forum. Their reasons for a black only forum are theirs alone. You don't need to have anything to do with the board if it upsets you so just walk away and find something else to do.

The argument could be that if you wish to abolish a black only forum then you should be lobbying to abolish any white supremacy forums/groups, are you actively doing that? If not then surely that means only the back only spaces upset you? in which case that makes you......

Hahaha! Love this!
PatricksRum · 17/09/2020 10:48

Ah, too many racist posts.

Fuck it.

What I will say that our board (Black Mumsnetters) is a massive middle finger up to anyone who disagrees with it.
Your comments are pointless, we already won. Wink

(Muhahahahaha) bastards

Hello ProfessorLayton1! Flowers
TooTrueToBeGood · 17/09/2020 10:51

@Phoenix21

So apparently alleged posts stating that the threads were black only were deleted? How convenient.

If that’s true (I don’t believe they existed, I haven’t seen any nor has this been evidenced by discussion around it) then the fact that they were deleted tells us that mumsnet is not supporting a black only board.

Many of us including the campaigner have stated that all people are welcome. This has been ignored again and again by naysayers.

There were one or two posts to that effect - I saw them myself. As a hopefully reasonable person however, I considered them to be just the opinion of the individual(s) that made them, not a majority view held by the black population. Others clearly want to use them as ammunition to support their agenda and claim them to be far more significant than they are. At the end of the day, nobody is forcing black people to post in BMN and non-black people are not barred from BMN. Having seen some of the vitreol and blatant racism on this thread I would completely understand if the majority of black MNers would prefer BMN to be black only but we all know that is impossible to enforce anyway so it's a moot point.
EchoCardioGran · 17/09/2020 10:54

I'm off to Fishnet for a lurk.
It's really peaceful there and interesting.
I don't keep fish. I used to.
Thinking of doing it again.

I wonder if they have got a picket line on there this morning to keep the Cat keepers out? Smile

BadBanana · 17/09/2020 10:54

I suggest everyone who disagreed with the section, of which I am one, now stops posting on this thread.

It is pointless, the couple of black, but mainly white, posters who wanted this have won their odd regression. So just leave them to it.

This thread has far more traffic and discussion than one in that board ever will. Just stop feeding their victim narrative and leave them now to slink off in to the corner.

I’ll continue posting as and when in the normal sections when needed, as I’m sure most reasonable black mumsnetters will.

Quaagars · 17/09/2020 10:55

I really am interested to understand how white people will be kept off the black board?

I think there's bouncers
We get chased off

not really

No, they use a fence made from a link to The Doghouse GrinGrin

PatricksRum · 17/09/2020 10:57

The only posts that were posted.

A) I started a thread and addressed black mumsnetters and not white mumsnetters.

B) A WHITE poster commented saying any "genuine" comments from white people and an immediate ban. Clearly meant in jest. But even if it wasn't the point is contradicting. (If you think white people aren't welcome on the board then a "rule" from a white person surely wouldn't have any bearing)
I quoted this poster and said "Grin maybe you can moderate the board."

In summary: anyone who suggests I said white people weren't welcome is talking shite.

You bad, bad banana.

Toodlepip.

PatricksRum · 17/09/2020 11:00

@AMemeByAnyOtherName Grin

It gets to a point where I have to switch to my other side to get the point across.

I can see my nana saying "ehhhhhhehhh" and giving them the blackest look.

I think I might just stick to kmt to every comment.

EchoCardioGran · 17/09/2020 11:01

BadBanana
Determined not to get it aren't you? Why is that we are all wondering?

Black Mumsnetters will still be posting on the main forum and other boards.

Because they are all very different individuals too. Just like the people posting on the LGBT board, FWR, Scotsnet, Sporners, etc etc etc

Carry on bleating.

No conspiracy here.

Pennybubbly · 17/09/2020 11:02

@OhReallyThen

There should be one for Asian parents too.

@MNHQ if you see this please don't just create an 'asians' board.

Asia is massive and calling us asians just encourages the homogenising of us into one 'other'.

Also because Asia is so big there's very little that is common across the whole of it. The struggles an Indian woman would face or questions she'd have are very different to that of a Thai or Chinese woman.

You could perhaps categorise us down into culturally similar groups (south Asians, south East Asians ect) if it's too difficult to go by countries (indian, Korean, Japanese ect) but please don't just lazily dump us together into one group of 'Asians'

Thank you for saying this Smile
