How much do you end up spending on Botox and fillers per year

I am 45 and beginning to look like hell. I know the price of Botox per thing but don’t know how much it ends up costing per year. How much do you end up sending year in year out? I am a Londoner. Thanks.

OP posts:

Zero.

I'm 47 and work in city where women and some men tend to have face freeze over a certain age.

I wouldn't rule it out though.

My friend has quite subtle Botox now (she's 50 and used to have face freeze) and that looks fine tbh.

Tillygetsit · 16/09/2020 02:34

How much do I spend? Nothing. I'll get flamed but to me it's just stupid vanity.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 16/09/2020 02:40

Nothing, but I have a very long fringe.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 16/09/2020 02:48

I spend money on facials instead! Probably £300 a year. They don’t eliminate fine lines but my skin looks great. I’ve no interest in trying to look years younger, just decent at my current age (46).

EuphieKat · 16/09/2020 02:48

I’m 45 and spend £0.00
Apparently Botox can help migraine, so I’m thinking of checking it out for that reason, but not for cosmetic purposes.

Back21970 · 16/09/2020 02:49

£160 once a year at my dentist for my forehead, used to need to go twice yearly but after getting it done for a while the results seem to last a bit longer.
Was 45 when I started, now 55. If I didn't have the money I would have to stop going but find the cost reasonable and there a definite improvement in my wrinkles so for me it's worth it.
Had fillers twice in my nose to mouth lines and was really pleased with the result, was around the same price and lasted longer than the Botox.
Probably do Botox every year and fillers every 2 years going forward, money permitting.
I don't look like a barbie doll, just, in my opinion, a bit better than I'd look if I didn't have it done!

Furries · 16/09/2020 02:50

Have never had Botox, just don’t like the idea of being injected with that stuff!

However, about 18 years ago I had restylane injections for the deep grooves either side of my mouth as I was really self conscious about them. It made a big difference to my self esteem, but was also subtle in that people couldn’t put their finger on it apart from keep saying “you look great”. To this day, those grooves are still not as bad as in my late 20’s. It’s probably the only thing I’d look into again as I hit my 50’s - but highly unlikely due to finances and not really giving a shit what I look like now 🤣

CarHire101 · 16/09/2020 05:03

Always amazes me who people go to for this stuff... GP???? when there are facial plastic surgeons and Oculoplastic surgeons who dedicate their lives to aesthetics having spent 15+ years training, research and papers and simply understanding facial dynamics such as static asymmetry changes with age.

The thing is Botox A is great when you are Botox A naive and yes there are a number of formulations but if you start in your 30s once you’ve exhausted all that... also fillers fo have problems and can migrate!

CatSmith · 16/09/2020 05:21

Sorry but you couldn’t pay me enough to have botulism toxin injected into my face! So I’m another £0. It’s bad enough when you have to have regular injections, never mind paying for the privilege.

malificent7 · 16/09/2020 05:31

Im going to start soon...nothing wrong with wanting to look more fresh faced. Im not expecting it to shave years off me...just lookibg less haggard would be great!

Kinny14 · 16/09/2020 05:37

Nothing. Botox etc is not for me

IHateCoronavirus · 16/09/2020 05:45

Nothing yet. I was considering it for a while but my friends who have been doing it for a while, all seem to be developing wrinkles on the sides of their noses just underneath their eyes! That has pretty much persuaded me against it.
Obvious lip fillers are awful. But I say that with naturally full lips so maybe I don’t fully appreciate the desire.

Henrysmycat · 16/09/2020 06:10

I’m 45 too. Instead of going straight to Botox, I’d advise seeing a dermatologist. They might advice you to do other things instead of Botox and give you a more holistic approach. It’s worth it. Dr Anita Sturnham changed my friend’s skin. She still looks 45 but that healthy, glowing 45 that puts 25 year olds to shame.
I invest in skincare, diet, medical facials, peels, etc. And I’ve been wearing suncream, religiously, since I was 17. I have no wrinkles but I have aged and have seen my cheeks travelling south. I am seriously thinking of having threads but that’s another subject.
Some advised on Facegym protocols and machines. I might try before do anything invasive.
So I might not Botox but I recon I spend a good £150-200 (Occasionally more) a month on my skin including vitamins and supplements.

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 16/09/2020 06:20

@doadeer

For actual wrinkles. I’ve had deep forehead lines since I was a teen (thanks genetics!). They’ve always bothered me. I’m not interested in trying to look younger, just want to look like a less worn out version of myself.

UnaCorda · 16/09/2020 06:25

Because she asked how much people spent. £0 is an answer.

If she'd asked how much people spend on a family car and the answer was, "£0 because I don't drive," or if she'd asked how much people spend on nursery fees and people said "£0 because my children are at university," I think people would have been a bit Hmm.

(I've never had Botox, but am considering it.)

LadyH846 · 16/09/2020 06:31

£0. Not sure about botox but fillers look much worse than natural ageing. I don't know why anyone gets them, they're very noticeable and they scream "I'm insecure about my age"

TheoneandObi · 16/09/2020 06:32

Nothing. But I'm thinking of getting a fringe cut Grin
May I ask why people
In their thirties get it done? Honestly I didn't even consider wrinkles in my thirties. I must have had some I suppose because my face moved and functioned. But I don't think I once looked in a mirror and thought oh I can see wrinkles.
I'm 54 now and after a bad nights sleep I notice mine. But if the sleep is going well my face is my friend Smile

A lot of smug bastards Confused why bother posting judgemental shit, other than to feel superior to a stranger?

OP i would be a bit careful. A 32 year old friend had fillers in her already gorgeous face and somhow her eyes look smaller. I could tell instantly she had had something done, for the bad. She's just a bb cream &mascara girl normally so i was surprised.

Research well and get recommdations that you can physically look at!!

Not feeling superior, just trying to stop someone ruining their face. Those trout pouts are hideous.
AuntieJoyce · 16/09/2020 06:36

Because she asked how much people spent. £0 is an answer

Maybe we should all answer the question in the subject line, rather than actually reading the thread before answering. In which case the answer to 90% of threads would be YES or NO

PopsicleHustler · 16/09/2020 06:40

Am sure you don't look like hell. Am sure you're stunning and gorgeous. As we get older things don't stay the way they are.

I would never consider any form of botox and so on but its your choice.

HalfTermHalfTerm · 16/09/2020 06:42

It’s only helpful to answer ‘0’ to a question like this if it’s some sort of survey, not if someone actually wants to know the cost of something!

“My child is really interested in riding lessons. I’ve not idea how expensive they are though, roughly how much do people pay per month for a weekly lesson?”

“Nothing. My child is allergic to horses.”

It’s not helpful or relevant!

LunaNorth · 16/09/2020 06:52

About 750 quid a year.

It’s fucking fantastic. I don’t look like a Barbie doll, I’m not chasing youth, nor do I worry about my hands ‘giving me away’ - I’ll happily tell anyone my age.

It sorta out my droopy left eyelid (thank you, mother, for that genetic gem), makes me able to smile without my eyes totally disappearing, and actually, makes me look like me before the ravages of divorce, bereavement, work stress and other general shittiness sucked up my joy.

Some judgemental buggers on here. We all do what makes us feel better. Some turn to gin, some to fags, some to Botox.

Keaveny · 16/09/2020 06:53

But it is kind of survey. Surely it’s interesting to know what proportion of MNers are doing botox

HasaDigaEebowai · 16/09/2020 06:56

£120 on baby botox twice a year so £240 in total. I'm almost 47
