How much do you end up spending on Botox and fillers per year

I am 45 and beginning to look like hell. I know the price of Botox per thing but don’t know how much it ends up costing per year. How much do you end up sending year in year out? I am a Londoner. Thanks.

OP posts:
lifesalongsong · 16/09/2020 07:33

@AuntieJoyce

Because she asked how much people spent. £0 is an answer

Maybe we should all answer the question in the subject line, rather than actually reading the thread before answering. In which case the answer to 90% of threads would be YES or NO

This is AIBUand the OP has asked a question why wouldn't posters reply with £0 and comment with their views.

If you want information only from people who've had it why wouldn't you use the Style and Beauty section?

Figgyroles · 16/09/2020 07:35

250 four times a year for 11s and eyelids. Just brightens my face a little. Love it. I do also spend on my children and give to charity. It is possible to be a little vain and care about the world around you.

People post in AIBU for traffic all the time. It’s quite obvious from the OP’s original post that she wants to know how much people who have Botox and fillers spend on their Botox and fillers.

arethereanyleftatall · 16/09/2020 07:51

£0 at the moment, but help me please ladies who know this stuff - my face is fine, except around my eyes - dark and bags underneath. What helps that?

AmIAWeed · 16/09/2020 07:53

Botox every 3 months £200 so that's £800 annually.
Cheek filler annually and last time I also had my lips done which was around £300.
Apparently lips should be every 6 months however I've had mine 10 months and only now thinking of a slight top up.
I also had filler on my nose to smooth the ridges out, that was £350 almost 2 years ago and not needed topping up.
I was told filler should last 1 year except areas that move lots like lips so I suspect my nose has probably all gone but it was more a trick of the mind. I hated how it looked, it was fixed and I loved it and now as. Liking myself more I've not noticed it return to normal? Who knows.

Additionally, I had really bad skin and had facials for a year to get my skin in great condition before Botox and fillers. It made an enormous difference and I realized I only really had 1 problem area which was a deep frown line once my skin glowed.
Botox with bad skin won't freshen you in the way you want so find a decent dermatologist, get your skin healthy then look at Botox if you still need it.

As far as I'm concerned if someone is fat they diet and or exercise, people go to hairdresser's to change their hair, they choose their clothes. To me, this is no different, it's about me and how I want to look.
@doadeer

For actual wrinkles. I’ve had deep forehead lines since I was a teen (thanks genetics!). They’ve always bothered me. I’m not interested in trying to look younger, just want to look like a less worn out version of myself.
@ItsAHardKn0ckLife1

Oh that's tough 😢 sorry I was just asking because I watched a BBC program on this the other week and lots of people were doing it as a preventative step but they didn't have a lot of evidence of this long term.

TryAnotherNickname · 16/09/2020 07:58

£250 annually. They tried to up sell fillers - 9point list or whatever they call it - THREE GRAND! annually! Needless to say etc etc. There are a lot of doctors now doing Botox as a side hustle from their / your home which is much cheaper than heading to Harley st and they’re better qualified than the dental assistant/ lady at the beauticians

mikkyr · 16/09/2020 07:59

I love how those who’ve never had have so much to say about HOW they think they will look if they have it done.
I have it done every 4to5 months. I live in SA so they price is irrelevant for this conversation.

The only person who knows I’ve had it is my husband and obviously the doctor who administers it. I love it and will keep doing it because it makes me look fresh and awake! Others only comment that my skin looks so much healthier and brighter.

People think you end up looking like a Barbie doll. But my doctors motto is ‘the beat injectible is undetectible!’ And it’s the truth. Obviously you can go overboard if you desire but the best results are really only for you to notice!

fishonabicycle · 16/09/2020 08:01

Nothing. Look after yourself, get fit and healthy, and be happy as you are x

AlternativePerspective · 16/09/2020 08:02

£0. People who have it done don’t look natural, they may look superficially better but everyone will know.

And once you start you can never stop because the difference is so marked once you’ve had 20 years or so and then your face starts to look its real age.

You should work on your self esteem rather than pump your face full of chemicals which will probably be proven to be harmful in a matter of years.

As for “people post here for traffic all the time,” and? I’m not usually one for saying people should absolutely post in the right topic, but if you want people to only tell you how wonderful it is and how much it costs then post in style and beauty. Otherwise it’s fair game for all comments.

yeOldeTrout · 16/09/2020 08:03

If you're 32 or 35 & spending £300/year... will you have to spend more when you're 52 or 55, so will the cost rise & rise over the years?

Laaalaaaa · 16/09/2020 08:04

Zero - I get it on the NHS

CherryPavlova · 16/09/2020 08:06

£0. The idea of filling my face with botulism, the ghastly plastic overdone look and the risks of complications make me think it’s too high a cost for trying to find eternal youth.

AmIAWeed · 16/09/2020 08:13

@yeOldeTrout there's no reason anyone should need it more as they get older so I don't anticipate costs going up unless I add more areas like crows lines. Currently I get forehead and deep eyebrow crease

FaffingForEngland · 16/09/2020 08:14

@UnaCorda

Because she asked how much people spent. £0 is an answer.

If she'd asked how much people spend on a family car and the answer was, "£0 because I don't drive," or if she'd asked how much people spend on nursery fees and people said "£0 because my children are at university," I think people would have been a bit Hmm.

(I've never had Botox, but am considering it.)

Those are nonsensical comparisons as they are examples where someone isn't in a position to make the choices you are referring to.

I am a woman who could spend money on Botox and fillers if I chose to. Hence the response.

Potterpotterpotter · 16/09/2020 08:17

I'm sure yours don't. I'm sure lots of other people's kids miss out because their parents choose to spend family money on beauty treatments

This can be said for a multitude of things... drink, fags, drugs, tattoos, clothing...

Livelovebehappy · 16/09/2020 08:19

£800 this year so far on fillers and Botox (had top up last week). I know people say grow old gracefully, embrace your wrinkles and jowls etc etc, but it absolutely boosts my confidence. I still wonder when I look in the mirror whether it has made a difference, but having recently met up with friends who I haven’t seen for a while, they instant remarked on how good my face looked, so maybe it’s something which is subtle. I work and feel that as long as I can afford it, that it affects no one else, and it’s my earned money which I can spend how I please.

yeOldeTrout · 16/09/2020 08:20

Do people who get this treatment done 2-3x a year...

Are you in a job that requires effective personal relationships or persuasion or leadership, so "looking the part" is very helpful?

Or is it more that you find the treatment makes you feel more confident in (not work) personal social occasions?

Or is it more "being settled with myself when I look in the mirror" thing. Or not getting negative comments or yes getting positive comments about your appearance...

Or indeed any combo of the above.

I just wondered where/when in your life you are especially glad you had the treatment.

My dad would be delighted if I got Botox. He can't stop commenting on my wrinkles or any part of my facial skin. This makes me want to avoid him, is chief thing he achieves.

LunaNorth · 16/09/2020 08:22

I’d rather ‘fill my face with botulism’ (actually have a tiny bit of a safe level of the toxin injected into three key areas’) than be as judgemental as some of the people on here.

That’s what’s truly toxic.

Potterpotterpotter · 16/09/2020 08:23

OP didn’t ask what anyone thought of Botox though so your comment is irreverent. No one cares if you like it or not. She wasn’t asking for opinions on if she should or should not get it.

She’s not asking if she should work on her self esteem Hmm people can have Botox and have good self esteem.

She’s asking for pricing advice and posting here because more people visit AIBU.

ShebaShimmyShake · 16/09/2020 08:25

£140 once a year or so. Nothing wrong with choosing not to do it but if you're thinking about it, OP, listen to the experiences of people who have done it, rather than the assumptions of people who haven't.

LouisBalfour · 16/09/2020 08:25

My dentist charges £300 and I have it every 9 months or so.

Illdealwithitinaminute · 16/09/2020 08:27

I do wonder of a couple of the more nasty comments on here are sour grapes because secretly they would like it but can't afford it hmm

I can afford it, and wouldn't be against plastic surgery, but I wouldn't want Botox or fillers, there's a programme on Netflix with some cosmetic surgeons/dermatologist who do this type of work as well as some really great stuff helping scars, but they personally look terrible! I just don't want to look odd. My cousin has had something done, she went all shiny like a waxwork, she was only in her thirties and was extremely pretty.

Poor Ivana Trump was on TV yesterday with a face full of fillers. It just looks odd to have smooth bits when other bits are wrinkly.

I've seen excellent eyebag surgery done and that really was undetectable. Teeth fixed really makes a big difference- and you would probably notice! All face lifts/botox/fillers give a weird look to me. I don't want that look, even though I can afford it.

Of course, it may be that everyone has that amazing undetectable results that just make them look well, but I do find a lot of people on TV (who presumably do all go to the same doctors) look odd, and the surgeons/those into this look the worst of all.

LoveFromDeauville · 16/09/2020 08:30

I paid £250 two weeks ago. Prior to that it had been a year since I had it done. With lockdown I didn’t really feel the need. I like what my doctor does. I just look a bit fresher.

Livelovebehappy · 16/09/2020 08:31

It’s weird how this topic always provokes a lot of negativity. Surely something like this is down to personal choice? Does it really matter if some people who you might or might not know has a procedure which quite often makes them feel better about themselves? I don’t try to be someone I’m not - if people ask me if I’ve had word done, I would absolutely confirm I have. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. Why do people wear make up, have their hair coloured, nails done, fake tan? To make them feel better about themselves, promoting self confidence.
