How much do you end up spending on Botox and fillers per year

I am 45 and beginning to look like hell. I know the price of Botox per thing but don’t know how much it ends up costing per year. How much do you end up sending year in year out? I am a Londoner. Thanks.

Giving in to the expectations that you, as a woman have to look younger than you are, is IMHO buying into & perpetuating that sexism.

The misunderstanding here is that every woman who gets Botox does it because they feel they "have" to look younger.

I think it's pretty sexist to assume all women who get Botox think and feel the same way and therefore make the same decisions.

ShebaShimmyShake · 16/09/2020 14:49

I don't get Botox to look younger. It doesn't make me look younger. I still look my age, I just no longer look like a serial killer of my age.

Slow handclaps to posters who totally know when someone's had it because they tell you...

What a load of tosh. Seriously grasping at straws there 🙄

Nikhedonia · 16/09/2020 14:54

The pretend interest in the mental well-being of women who get Botox is laughable.

The negative posters on this thread don't give a shit about the mental well-being of people or they wouldn't use such divisive descriptions (performing seal, clown etc).

Anyone who is so ignorant that they cannot believe some results are natural is because all they can imagine is the typical Katie Price, Chloe Ferry, Charlotte Crosby look.

I'm sure they also cannot imagine a natural looking breast augmentation and assume everyone walks out looking like they've had two footballs shoved in their bra.

Coconut2010 · 16/09/2020 14:59

£0
In my 40s and never been tempted. It’s down to personal taste, I don’t like the Botox look but accept that some might like it.
I am also lucky to have inherited good genes from my parents so look pretty young for my age.

From the woman who says she dyes her grey hair due to its boring colour these days, not to keep herself looking young.

Don't be ridiculous & you can see it, whether you like that fact or not, it is obvious. It may be a more natural & better done version of it, but it's still obvious

& as above I do not say this out loud as I wouldn't want to hurt friends who swear by it. It is their choice. I don't have to like it though & I'm entitled to my opinion, just as you are. If they asked me, I'd be honest though, but kindly so. People are so set into the idea it improves them though, that they don't ask, me or anyone else, but to me that's buying into the hype & expectations

Nikhedonia · 16/09/2020 15:03

All these amazing facial aesthetic experts on this thread. I'm truly in awe.

Confused I think you need to re read my post, I don't dye my hair because it's grey, I'd love it to be silvery grey, but I barely have any & non that is visible even with my current un dyed lockdown hair🤷‍♀️

pineapplepalmtree · 16/09/2020 15:04

34 and spend 145 x 4 times a year on botox.
will add fillers in a few years I think as my parter has just had it done and its knocked years off her Shock

Eastereggfan · 16/09/2020 15:08

39, £220 x 3 a year for botox. Absolutely love it. I started it after my DM passed away when I'd spent 2 years in a state of worry, tears, anxiety due to her illness. It showed in my face.

AuntieJoyce · 16/09/2020 15:13

@SingingInTheShithouse my point being that your reasons for dyeing your hair are different to other people’s

But everyone getting botox does it out of desperation

Contradictory

LaurieFairyCake · 16/09/2020 15:16

I get Botox above my brow so I can see out my eye, the natural drooping with age makes me more tired as it's an effort lifting the lid all day

No one could tell. It's not particularly vain to be able to see.Confused

If they continue to droop and lose volume I would have them surgically done - I'd quite like to be able to see for a while HmmGrin

LadyH846 · 16/09/2020 15:18

@Illdealwithitinaminute

I do wonder of a couple of the more nasty comments on here are sour grapes because secretly they would like it but can't afford it hmm

I can afford it, and wouldn't be against plastic surgery, but I wouldn't want Botox or fillers, there's a programme on Netflix with some cosmetic surgeons/dermatologist who do this type of work as well as some really great stuff helping scars, but they personally look terrible! I just don't want to look odd. My cousin has had something done, she went all shiny like a waxwork, she was only in her thirties and was extremely pretty.

Poor Ivana Trump was on TV yesterday with a face full of fillers. It just looks odd to have smooth bits when other bits are wrinkly.

I've seen excellent eyebag surgery done and that really was undetectable. Teeth fixed really makes a big difference- and you would probably notice! All face lifts/botox/fillers give a weird look to me. I don't want that look, even though I can afford it.

Of course, it may be that everyone has that amazing undetectable results that just make them look well, but I do find a lot of people on TV (who presumably do all go to the same doctors) look odd, and the surgeons/those into this look the worst of all.

I feel the same. I can afford fillers and botox but I agree it makes people look hard faced and strange.

On the other hand I would have cosmetic dentistry if I needed it. People usually come out of that looking better.

What’s the point of you even commenting here?

Not at all contradictory Auntie you just haven't understood what I've meant.

Adornment if any sort. To be the best version of yourself at the age you are is fine by me, but I don't personally think it looks nice or is invisible at all & it saddens me that women, & occasional men too feel they can't just be their own age. I worked bloody hard for my wrinkles & I've many friends, as I'm sure we all have, who haven't had the privilege of growing old & I don't see it as making me less than I was, quite the opposite

Thatbliddywoman · 16/09/2020 15:27

About £390. Botox 3 times a yearish. I'm 38.

But you seem to be ignoring all the people saying they get it for other reasons rather than to look younger.

I don't care if people know how old I am. I'm not arsed about getting older, I just want my face not to be scowling all the time even when I'm happy.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 16/09/2020 15:34

I think @Henrysmycat has given the best advice start by going to a dermatologist. My dermatologist offers Botox but hadn’t suggested it to me yet, because I’m luck not to have any deep lines (yet)! Facials work best for me atm as I still get the odd spot and some mild rosacea on my chin.

So It totally depends what you’re trying to achieve. Tbh, I’ve seen some shocking fillers and that’s put me off, but I’m sure some are well done- the ones we don’t notice!

Not ignoring it Snoring, based on people I know, who I'm sure would argue that too, I'm just not buying it🤷‍♀️

It's pointless, SnoringFerret. They know better than we do how it looks, why we did it and what it says about our mental health not to mention our morals as people, even though we have experience of it and they haven't. Personally I think this attitude is usually borne of wanting to get it done but not doing it because of the imagined moral value to it. There is no moral value to it, but you can't convince them.

Like I said, I'm actually quite pleased that these silly misconceptions exist because they make it even less likely that anyone will spot mine.

lazylinguist · 16/09/2020 15:39

Tbh I think it's quite odd that it's considered judgemental to think it's a bad idea to have toxins injected into your face.

I agree that it is a judgement to call people vain and shallow for caring about their looks, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't lament the fact that society makes women feel that looking their age is undesirable.

Snoringferret · 16/09/2020 15:39

Ahhh so you're not ignoring it you're just projecting your already held beliefs onto whatever it is someone says and dismissing anything that doesn't back them up.

Crack on then.
