Priti Patel has just confirmed that tests are available for everyone. Good news. Effectively people have been lying that they are unable to get tests. Is no one scrutinising the kids of this government. Nhs staff shortages already due to lack of testing. School kids and parents anxious as well.

Fuck her. I've been trying for 2 days to get a test for my dc so I can go back to work. No tests available anywhere, literally nothing. But if you're well off and connected like her then I'm sure accessing tests is no problem whatsoever....

This is infuriating! Its the blatant lying that is unacceptable, they did the exact same thing in March, April and May with care homes. I wish they would just admit there is a problem-instead of gaslighting the nation.

She is the worst. The absolute worst. why do none of these MP's have the bollocks to hold their hands up and say the truth on this? Its a complete and utter shit show. I am pro schools going back but what a shambles to not have the required amount of tests available when there'll surely be an uptick with all the students going back and mixing together?

Thank goodness for that. I probably imagined the 100 mile round trip I ended up doing to get ds tested as well. (Still waiting for results)

They are a total disgrace these people. In the spring I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt but this latest test fiasco demonstrates how incompetent they are.

And the final insult is that after weeks of pushing people to get tests to get everyone back to work and school they are now accusing us of “frivolous” use of tests because we want the right to be allowed back into our workplaces

There was a thread on this last night with people queuing up to attack one another for using the tests for “sniffles”. It doesn’t take long for people to start blaming one another

I really really wish the government would admit there is a problem and tell us what they plan to do to address it. Instead of the repeated lies and denials - it’s been the same all the way through and I’ve lost any respect I ever had for everyone involved.

We have been trying constantly for 48 hours. We are two NHS nurses and can’t work. We haven’t even been able to get one through work, which is usually available on the same day. We are not even unwell- our child has a bit of a cough which is most likely ‘back to school virus’ linked with a cold. But school have told us not to send children who are unwell in any way. We are not allowed to return to work without a negative test.

I was glad to see this is being reported - it is an absolute mess. There should be serious analysis of who these contracts have been awarded to, and why.

I'm a teacher and spent all day yesterday trying to get a test! It's ridiculous! I'm sure I just have a cold. But can't return until a test shows negative! Meanwhile my class are being babysat by TA
Not sure what else to do!

Took hours and hours to get a test. It's taking even longer to get a result. Just look at all the threads of people still waiting 4+ days for results. And these are people who went to drive through / mobile sites, so not being held up in the postal system.

The whole system is an abject failure. No wonder cases are rising.

I think we are being lazy as Priti and Raab have said earlier. We don't want to travel 500 miles to get tested. We need an excuse not to go to work.

Well maybe she need to tell the website that! Nothing available, and 6 kids at home until I can get a test to prove that the very slight temperature is part of dds cold.

bullshit. my daughter has literally just returned from the hospital with a temperature of over 38 and a cough- two of the main symptoms. getting her a test wasnt even mentioned. whole thing is bullshit
