To just binge-watch Greys Anatomy on repeat?

Obvs not BU Grin

I’m not really a film/tv fan, truth be told. I have quite specific things that I like, and they tend to be easy watching fluff if I’m honest. I don’t really like to watch stuff I have to engage with too closely. I have a heavy job and two kids and I’m always knackered and stressed. I just prefer to zone out with some mindless shit to be honest.

Greys is my default. It’s comforting and distracts me from stress etc. I dunno. I watch it most nights just now (going through a bit of a hard time) and it’s driving DH mental 🤷🏻‍♀️

I also like This Is Us and watch that sometimes but not to the same extent.

Is this really unusual? Does anyone else do this?

DH and I are currently binge watching Grey's from the start, just got to series 9. We've never seen it before but YANBU!

SmileEachDay · 12/09/2020 19:20

Yes.

I’m currently rewatching Silent Witness. Grey’s was another favourite. Also House.

JadesRollerDisco · 12/09/2020 19:24

I have a list of favourite series. I always have one I'm watching. I wAtch other series normally (like an episode or two a week until the series ends and no rewatching), but if I really love a series it gets added to the rewatch pile.

I have watched every episode of Greys Anatomy at least Twice. It's like a comfort blanket

Cheesess · 12/09/2020 19:24

I’ve watched it many times. It got me through some really hard times as well when I was struggling with my mental health as a directionless 19 year old and didn’t leave my room for a month.
Ten years later I’m a scientist now!

WombatStewForTea · 12/09/2020 19:31

I have the same thing with Gilmore Girls. It's my go to when I need something easy to watch.

Used to love Grey's anatomy but stopped watching around season 9. Need to catch up

bluebluezoo · 12/09/2020 19:35

Yabu.

Binge watch ER instead on E4. Greys is shite in comparison.

Clementine8 · 12/09/2020 19:37

Snap, i’ve got so much on at the moment and need something i can relax with that doesn’t need focus.
Plus all the drama in their lives makes mine look so simple.

bluebluezoo · 12/09/2020 19:38

Other medical dramas worth a binge watch-

St Elsewhere- lots of soon to be megastar actors, and fascinating to watch how medicine and society has moved on.

Chicago Hope- slightly more realistic, funnier version of ER.

cookiemon666 · 12/09/2020 19:39

I too binge watch Greys and have just recently rewatched ER.

Crylittlesister · 12/09/2020 19:39

Currently doing that exact thing myself. Last couple of series have been so crap, but going back to S1 and rewatching is a huge pleasure for me.

ER4321 · 12/09/2020 19:40

I second ER! I've binge watched Grey's twice and currently loving ER. I remeber my mum having it on when I was younger but it old enough to be interested. Fully addicted now!

CatPeach · 12/09/2020 19:41

Absolutely not. I’ve seen Greys all the way through so many times. I’m on season 5 again at the moment. Its superb. Also drives my DH mad. But like you say, its easy to watch and comforting. It’s special.

Gwynfluff · 12/09/2020 19:43

Was just coming to post. Gave up about 6 seasons in as it never matched ER for me. Only long time series I watched to the bitter end in the days you waited from year to year. (Though actually you can get to that point once fully immersed in Netflix). I watched the first season as a uni student and the last season played when my first kid was newborn.

HamRadio · 12/09/2020 19:43

Where can you watch ER? Is it on 4OD?

I started greys but didn't get hooked... since I had ds late last year I've binged this is us, house, 9-1-1, 911 lone star, station 19, the night shift, Brooklyn 99 and Gilmore girls (for the 3rd time)

I do love a medical drama, gutted greys didn't cut it. Have you seen saving hope OP?

DollyMixtureLulus · 12/09/2020 19:45

I do that too, but I always stop before George dies 🥺

I used to rewatch Gilmore Girls constantly, especially when I was going through tough times. I guess it's such a tame show that it's comforting.

Recently, I was enjoying a re-rewatch of One Tree Hill and Amazon Prime took it down! I feel like my pre-bed comfort blanket is gone.

HamRadio · 12/09/2020 19:48

Dolly what?! But that’s so early on! There is soooo much good stuff after that!

OP posts:
ReallyLoveWine · 12/09/2020 19:48

I love Greys! Where are you watching it? Doesn’t seem to be on Sky anymore 🙁

HamRadio · 12/09/2020 19:49

No I haven’t seen Saving Hope I’ll look that up.

OP posts:
HamRadio · 12/09/2020 19:50

It’s on virgin media on demand.

I used to be a Casualty/Holly City addict and Greys totally ruined it for me Grin it’s just so boring in comparison.

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 12/09/2020 19:51

Never seen it but i've done the same with The Big Bang Theory. I think I watched the whole lot 5 times during a very stressful period. Just in the evenings not 24 hours a day!

I'm working my way through Friends for the second time now.

Chickenwing · 12/09/2020 19:52

I have watched friends when in bed at night every night for the last 15 years (not kidding) it helps me sleep and makes me feel safe. I still laugh at it.

rubbish

Greys is much better than ER

MsJaneAusten · 12/09/2020 19:55

I’m on my fourth round of Grey’s. I call them my ‘friends’. I think at times like this it’s reassurance.
