To call my baby this

So we decided this name in September 2017. We had been trying for a baby for a while and knew this would be our girl name when we eventually fell pregnant.

Anyway, we have since found out we are having a baby girl and I am due very soon.

We decided to call her Cove.

But now I'm worrying that it's too close to Covid, especially since she will be born during the pandemic.

I'm not too worried about people liking the name personally, but more worried about whether she'll be teased in future because of its association with Covid? Am I over thinking?

The thing is what ever you name a child people will always have opinions . When I had dc called him Harrison everyone always said oh is that after Harrison Ford well no it wasn’t but that’s what they thought ! Does it matter you know you like the name and why 😊

Why don’t you go the whole hog and call her Corona?

It’s an awful “name”, (well it’s not even a name) at the best of times but it’s too close to the corona/Covid thing for sure!

On the one hand, you should choose a name you like. On the other, and I'm being honest since you asked, if I heard of a child called Cove born in 2020 or during the pandemic, I'd think the parents were trying and failing to be funny and that it was a bad call.

It's not my taste but it's a perfectly fine name in any other circumstances, but all I can see is Cove/Covid, as Dave/David. Juniper is a lovely name, and a similar vibe!

It's a shame because it's a lovely name in its own right!
What put me off was the spelling as I knew it would be mis-pronounced. It was a string contender, it really is a beautiful name in its own right.
FWIW I really love Cove but just not at the minute.

My first thought was not of covid, but of the coast! I was imagining waves and cliffs.

I know most, if not all, will think I'm a terrible mum for having made this decision, but we met our princess not even 24hrs ago and as soon as I saw her, I knew it was the right thing to do.

I love her name and I love her.

I quite like it too. But apparently it is more commonly a boy's name. If the covid bit sticks, perhaps call her Coco as a nickname.
