Whether you agree with them or not... do you?

OP posts:
Indecisivelurcher · 11/09/2020 22:06

I totally feel like a dick. I can't seem to understand anyone and they can't hear me. I'm not known for being quiet! My glasses steam up instantaneously.

Dominicgoings · 11/09/2020 22:06

@BF2748

I hope all of you lot who are moaning about those with medical exemption being dicks aren’t the ones who make it a misery for us who are actually medically exempt. You won’t always over hear a conversation so don’t presume everyone is faking it, ive had people confront me for my lack of mask and by the end of it I’ve made sure they’ve felt like a dick for being so rude, obnoxious and invasive. So interesting on here and social media how it’s always about be kind, it’s utter bollocks. Those without masks who are genuine have had a hard time and having to deal with social implications for standing out. So am I a dick for following guidance from my medical professional of what is best for me? Honestly you should be ashamed of yourselves.
The people who should be ashamed of themselves are those who claim to be medically exempt when they’re not. Or those who spout the crack pot theories about government ‘control’.
BF2748 · 11/09/2020 22:08

@domincgoings yes but it’s not clear is it who is actually exempt and not, so people like me get the crap and judgement for being genuine. You wouldn’t like to be spoken to like crap or given dirty looks for not doing anything wrong, because people are presuming I look like I’m faking. It’s bullshit and no excuse for it. Unless someone is overheard that they’re faking it people should presume that those they see are exempt.

fullofhope100 · 11/09/2020 22:09

@mommybear1

Not at all but I think the twats who wear them under their noses look like dicks 🤷🏻‍♀️
This for sure!
MrsZola · 11/09/2020 22:10

No. I've worn one from the beginning due to DH shielding. I honestly don't care what anyone else thinks - I won't die from that.
What worries me is how few people are using hand sanitiser when entering shops and shops (ASDA, I'm looking at you!) who don't give a shit about it anymore.

Userzzz · 11/09/2020 22:11

Yes! I hate it.

How on earth can you tell that someone is giving you a ‘dirty look’ if they’re wearing a mask?

Do you wear a visor? That would stop any judgemental comments if you don’t have the confidence to address them face on?

Griselda1 · 11/09/2020 22:13

A very spotty dick because my skin doesn't seem to like them

CaptainMyCaptain · 11/09/2020 22:13

No. The people refusing for no good reason are the dicks.

Megan2018 · 11/09/2020 22:13

I don’t mind wearing one but wish I could find some that actually fit. They are all miles too big (have a small head and ears and they all slip over my eyes! Drives me crackers. Children's are too small, small adults too big.

1Morewineplease · 11/09/2020 22:15

No.
I like wearing a mask. It protects me to a certain extent and I wish more people felt that way too, as it would provide further protection for me.

Nope. Why would I? I feel like I'm doing something sensible and caring towards the rest of the community, and I'm grateful that most of them are doing likewise.

What an odd post, OP? Do you feel like a dick? If so, why?

thecognoscenti · 11/09/2020 22:19

I love them. I'm very ugly and they hide most of that which is great. Plus I feel mysterious

indemMUND · 11/09/2020 22:21

No, I'm a pretty anxious person and worry about not being able to maintain a neutral facial expression in public. I get stared at a lot due to the amount of eye make up I wear. The mask actually helps, especially in supermarkets or on the school run (we've been asked to wear them on site).

Dominicgoings · 11/09/2020 22:21

I feel mysterious until all the damn things are in the wash basket and the only clean one is a kids Paw Patrol one 😎 Now THAT caught peoples attention in Asda 😂
JamSarnie · 11/09/2020 22:25

I do find it sad that many on here love them because they can hide their 'ugly' ( words used by posters ) part of their face.

I am no oil painting and don't tend to wear make up. But I won't wear a mask to hide myself away from others and think it's a shame that a lot of people think so poorly of themselves.

GarlicSoup · 11/09/2020 22:25

No, but anyone who doesn’t wear one without a valid reason is definitely ‘an absolute dick’. HTH

foxtiger · 11/09/2020 22:33

It's become second nature to me now when I'm in a town centre. I've almost forgotten to take it off before eating or drinking more than once. I think wearing disposable ones and just littering with them is pretty dickish though.

Nicolastuffedone · 11/09/2020 22:35

No.....

BogRollBOGOF · 11/09/2020 22:36

I feel clumsy
Then I feel hot
Then I pant
Then I panic
Then I strip any superflous layers of clothes
Then I'm gasping and the fucking thing comes off my face.
45 seconds was all took last time to trigger.

I am not a dick.

I can't lip read people in them, and talking is hard to hear and do. I can't look mask wearers in the face and when I'm in a masky place I look down away from face level. They make social distancing harder because there is too much to process to cope with gauging space.

I can not wait for the bastard grimy things to be consigned to history.

thisisnotus · 11/09/2020 22:36

@bumble79

Nope. When I first started wearing one I did and dreaded it and now I'm like whatevs. People who don't wear them (obviously not those who are exempt) look like dicks imo.
How on earth can you tell who is medically exempt and who's just a dick 🤔
ChristmasinJune · 11/09/2020 22:37

Well no because the people who have their noses hanging over the top of masks will always look sillier than me Grin

I do often feel like I'm about to rob a shop as I sit outside it pulling my mask on!!

BF2748 · 11/09/2020 22:41

@Dominicgoings emotion is shown through eye and when people stare at me long enough I can tell if it’s a pleasant look or not. I have no problem addressing people at all and have done plenty of time’s.

indemMUND · 11/09/2020 22:41

@ChristmasinJune I get that! When I stop walking to put mine on before entering the school I have a millisecond where I'm like "Ooh, let's fuck shit up" Grin
