To ask what stupid things you cry at

I’d say that when it comes to “real stuff” I’m quite stoic. I don’t cry over arguments, terrible days, someone shouting at me etc.

However so far this week I have sobbed over

  • a video on Facebook of a dog doing hydrotherapy
  • a man on who wants to bring a millionaire (I thought he was so nice)
  • listening to song
So Aibu to ask - what’s the stupid things that make you cry.

Dogs trust ads. Especially the one with the balloon dogs that found their forever homes but one got stuck in a tree

BeBraveAndBeKind · 10/09/2020 22:07

I have to stop myself crying any time I see someone else crying. I always cry at the end of Bolt and have cried at credit card adverts (much to my sisters' amusement).

Dementedswan · 10/09/2020 22:09

That song in mamma Mia 1 and 2. Slipping through my fingers had me sobbing 🙄🤣

Timinfuckingruislip · 10/09/2020 22:11

@Dementedswan oh I cry at hearing defying gravity - which is weird as I didn’t even enjoy wicked when I saw it in the theatre

I am not a sporty person at all, no interest, hated them at school etc.

Any sort of ad that shows a sporting team overcoming adversity has me sobbing.

Bunnybigears · 10/09/2020 22:14

I cry whenever anyone elderly gets upset, I cant stand to see elderly men or women upset. The Age Concern ads where they explain how lonely they are or 24hrs in A&E when they think their wife/husband might die.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 10/09/2020 22:15

Opening scene of finding nemo!

Timinfuckingruislip · 10/09/2020 22:17

@Bunnybigearsoh gosh yes! Don’t ever watch that emergency services show...
Elderly men who’s wives have died really really do get to me.

Every sodding thing. Examples include:
People being happy/sad/kind/mean.
Group singing. People holding up lighters or torches en masse like at a gig.
Children in school concerts.
I cry at most films, even if not actual weepy ones.
Anything. It is the thing I hate most about myself.

Purplekitchen · 10/09/2020 22:20

Seeing cars making way for ambulances to get through always makes me emotional.

DramaLlama12 · 10/09/2020 22:21

Undercover Boss
Yep I know
Been off work with Covid symptoms/ Not Covid and during the tail end of lockdown I discovered this
At the end when he /she gifts them cars , houses , tuition fees I shed actual tears ffs

Timinfuckingruislip · 10/09/2020 22:22

@Crylittlesister well your username does explain it Grin. But the group singing thing is on a other level

It makes me want to sort of cry, crying, hide and join in all at the same time.

One Born Every Minute.
Even if I try to not cry, still cry.

Dementedswan · 10/09/2020 22:23

Also, my oldest child is in his last year of primary... watching him walk down the street to school with his friends brings a lump to my throat. I'm proud of him, but at the same time I miss walking him to school, his small hot hand in mine pointing out things on our walk.

I might insist walking him to school on his last day at primary. Hes grown up so quick, I feel like I've blinked and missed all the lasts .

Lsquiggles · 10/09/2020 22:24

Wouldn't really call it stupid but I always cry when colour blind people get though glasses that help them see colours for the first time, gets me every time! I can't imagine how amazing it must be!

DramaLlama12 · 10/09/2020 22:24

Oh and every single thing my children have participated in at school .
In the end ( large gap between children ) I wore sunglasses indoors or claimed ' hay fever ' for something she read one sentence for ..she was more embarrassed than me , sobbing because she had learned something Victorian
I swear I'm menopausal

frankie001 · 10/09/2020 22:27

Watched a programme about Colchester zoo last night and sobbed when it reopened after lockdown.

tearinyourhand · 10/09/2020 22:29

I went to the cinema a couple of years ago near Christmas time and there was an ad for something, I can't even remember what, and this little girl was watching the sound of music every Christmas with her mum and then at the end she was an adult and had gone travelling, and I blubbed like a baby.

44PumpLane · 10/09/2020 22:29

crylittlesister this is me too.... Literally everything!

I actually find it can be a hindrance, for example I'll be trying to tell my husband about a news story or semi uplifting story I've seen or read and my voice cracks, I sound like I'm about to start sobbing (and if I did continue to speak normally i wpipd literally start to cry) so I have to stop, breathe, carry on for half a sentence etc

I don't know what it is but every fucking thing makes me emotional and my sensible brain hates it!

Also the thing I hate most about myself.

SpacePug · 10/09/2020 22:42

Oh god I'm pregnant but even when I'm not I cry at stupid stuff. Today the song 'rockabye' by Sean Paul and Anne Marie came on I sang along and cried my eyes out 😳. I also cried at one born every minute, a sad news story about a little girl who passed away waiting for a transplant, I cry at allsorts.

GreenPlum · 10/09/2020 22:47

All the usual stuff on telly - but I peaked yesterday when DS showed me the episode of Doctor Who that had Vincent Van Gogh in it. He was lying down holding hands with the doctor looking at the stars as he got his inspiration for The Starry Night painting. I burst into tears FFS!

A musical encore always gets me going 🙄

riotlady · 10/09/2020 22:52

Those stupid Mccain oven chip adverts about families!

Timinfuckingruislip · 10/09/2020 22:53

@SpacePug that song makes me cry too!
“Your life ain’t gonna be nothing like my life
Your gonna habe a good life”

Makes me well up every time!
