To ask what stupid things you cry at

I’d say that when it comes to “real stuff” I’m quite stoic. I don’t cry over arguments, terrible days, someone shouting at me etc.

However so far this week I have sobbed over

  • a video on Facebook of a dog doing hydrotherapy
  • a man on who wants to bring a millionaire (I thought he was so nice)
  • listening to song
So Aibu to ask - what’s the stupid things that make you cry.

Brass bands especially at Christmas
Guide dogs
When I m Angry - I hate this one as it undermines my position. The wavering voice and hysterical sound. I loathe it

garlictwist · 11/09/2020 05:02

I always cry at Don't Tell the Bride. I hate weddings in real life, am not married myself and think the people are on it are generally idiots. But for some reason when she the bride jet skis down the aisle I get a bit of a tear.

Bluesheep8 · 11/09/2020 07:09

Brass bands
Anything that has been run over

FudgeBrownie2019 · 11/09/2020 07:38

The first ten minutes of UP. Every single time.

The Good Dinosaur when they draw the circles of their families.

Avengers Endgame when they're getting absolutely dicked by Thanos and Dr Strange's circles appear.

How to Train Your Dragon when Toothless and Hiccup do that dance with the stick and the music builds then Hiccup puts out his hand and Toothless puts his head to it.

Steel Magnolias when they're at the wake and M'Lynn loses it. Before becoming a parent it never ruined me, now I'm a Mother It breaks me even thinking about it.

Whenever I hear Abide With Me - it was my Grandad's song and is just beautiful.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 11/09/2020 07:39

And the moment in Brassed Off when they play concerto d'orangejuice!

FudgeBrownie2019 · 11/09/2020 07:40

Oh and the part in The Truman Show where Father Kolbe's Preaching plays as he sails. Beautiful music makes me cry.

LioneIRichTea · 11/09/2020 07:40

I cry whenever anyone elderly gets upset, I cant stand to see elderly men or women upset. The Age Concern ads where they explain how lonely they are or 24hrs in A&E when they think their wife/husband might die.

Yes! There was a 24 hours in A&E I saw before lockdown and watching the old couple on there, I was a mess Sad

Anytime my sons teacher (y1) I get really emosh. Very weird!!!!

JadesRollerDisco · 11/09/2020 16:28

Dogs make me cry. My children when they are nice to each other. Every month when my bills come out and nothing bounces I almost cry with relief too, even though I haven't bounced a payment for a couple of years now. I weeped when I got my child's school report.

JadesRollerDisco · 11/09/2020 16:29

Wept *

HoneyWheeler · 11/09/2020 16:30

Oh god the bloody Frozen 2 soundtrack! Yet to make it through the whole thing without bawling, it's pathetic!!

JadesRollerDisco · 11/09/2020 16:30

Whenever I get my hair cut I cry afterwards. Doesn't matter whether I love it or hate it. Likewise the dentist, I cry if I need work done (fear, self loathing) and if I don't (joy, relief).

Timinfuckingruislip · 11/09/2020 16:30

@Furries I could t watch lassie etc either! But Marley and Me is on another level - it’s like -5 minutes of crying.

Do take a look at the Netflix series “Dogs” episodes two and three will make you cry (but in a very good way).

Oh thank god for that!! I thought it was just me that cries at DTTB. I've just watched it on Netflix and pretty much sobbed all the way through it. Especially the last one when she wouldn't marry him, he looked so dejected 😔 and I always think if you're going to go off on one over a dress or venue why agree to go on the program in the first place
TroysMammy · 11/09/2020 20:13

The film Greyfriars Bobby and he doesn't even die.
I read an article recently on a dog being awarded the Dickens medal and started blubbing.
I'm not even a dog person. I love cats and I've got a cat.

slipperywhensparticus · 11/09/2020 20:19

There are little you tube videos of dogs being rescued and one today was an abused dog who didn't know how to dog she was sitting in the pouring rain looking in their house feeling like she couldn't go in they had to carry her places she was that bad they introduced her to there own dog and she ended up playing and bouncing around proper dog style even learned to walk on a lead

I cry at those a lot

I have three cats I still watch the dog videos

I watched a cat video the other day a cat literally followed some people home and moved in

TroysMammy · 11/09/2020 20:29

I bought a Greyfriars Bobby dvd. It's still in its cellophane wrapper because I know what will happen. Years ago I took the book to read when I went on holiday to Rhodes. I read the last few chapters in the toilet howling and sobbing (he dies of old age in that).

zara020 · 11/09/2020 20:44

@Purplekitchen

Seeing cars making way for ambulances to get through always makes me emotional.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. This gets me every time . I get the Hmm look from anyone with me at the time
Southernsoftie76 · 11/09/2020 20:48

Embarrassingly any 80’s love song Grin

Southernsoftie76 · 11/09/2020 20:50

Especially Chris De Burgh’s In A Country Churchyard, shocking song but the words get me bawling.

Toobe · 11/09/2020 20:52

Toy Story 3

Hearing military marching bands. I think of all the young men who have bravely marched to war and been sacrificed.

SingleHandSue · 11/09/2020 20:52

@Crylittlesister

Every sodding thing. Examples include: People being happy/sad/kind/mean. Group singing. People holding up lighters or torches en masse like at a gig. Children in school concerts. I cry at most films, even if not actual weepy ones. Anything. It is the thing I hate most about myself.
Hi there, I believe we must be related.
