Just a bit of fun. I always end up buying similar food items in my weekly shop. Occasionally I’ll try something new and it’s really nice and I’ll continue to buy it. For example last week I bought some balsamic chutney from Morrison’s- it was so good I’ve added it to most sandwich fillings yum 😋

Have you bought anything new recently which you’ve been really impressed with?

Tesco chilli beetroot, amazing! And healthy.

rslsys · 10/09/2020 21:03

Aldi Digestives - much less sweet and cloying than McVities.
Aldi Benefit cereal - just like Special K before Kelloggs 'improved it'.
Aldi Hoops - much nicer than Cheerios

nanbread · 10/09/2020 21:03

Ooh I've got another one. Sainsbury's frozen dark sweet cherries. Nothing like fresh cherries but they're delicious with yoghurt and granola.

I tried asda frozen cherries and they were foul.

luggageandbags · 10/09/2020 21:04

Aivar, have bought it from Waitrose and Sainsburys.

It’s roast red pepper thick sauce, my kids and I eat it with pretty much anything, but best on the side of lemony roast chicken or sausages.

Ginjanotaninja · 10/09/2020 21:05

May I suggest the spiced coconut corn triangles from M+S. They are amazing.

reader12 · 10/09/2020 21:08

Innocent hazelnut milk. The only dairy alternative milk I’ve ever liked, so yummy with granola, or or as a cold drink on a hot day, and it keeps for ages after opening. I much prefer it to normal milk now.

Waitrose Al Limon sardines, really nice with a salad for lunch, and the only sardines I’ve ever actually enjoyed eating. And Waitrose frozen breaded chicken chunks - too good to only give kids! Those are the two things that made me want to opened an account with Waitrose after the split from Ocado.

Oh and the huge Cadbury’s peanut salted caramel bar - so good!

reader12 · 10/09/2020 21:09

Oh and Costco dried cranberries, so good in chocolate brownies!

Mrsdoubtfireswig · 10/09/2020 21:09

Lots of lovely things on here

Mine are Aldi’s skin on fries - delicious. Also Aldi’s lentil and hummus crisps and dc love the the veg stick packs aswell

Jigglypuffly · 10/09/2020 21:14

@ScabbyHorse great taste 😁

Lifeisabeach09 · 10/09/2020 21:16

Winiary brand Mayo

^^Yes, all my Polish friends swear by this brand.

Co-op Chardonnay Vinegar and Sea Salt crisps. Pricey at 1.70 for a large bag but are the best S&V crisps ever!!!! (As recommended on this site many moons ago.)

Pinkmagic1 · 10/09/2020 21:18

Lidl black cherry conserve.

Serenity45 · 10/09/2020 21:19

Crucials sauces (huge and usually £1 in Morrisons, probably other stores too) garlic mayo great but the yoghurt mint one is AMAZING with lamb in a pitta. Husband is obsessed with a drink called Peanut Hottie which is basically a powdered mix to make s hot peanut drink. Also comes in chocolate flavour shame the thought of liquid peanut makes me want to hurl

Great suggestions from PPs I'm doing a list!

Jeaniealogy · 10/09/2020 21:22

Aldi chocolate rice cakes... love them
Aldi chocolate at 30p a bar...amazingly goid for ganache, cakes, desserts or just eating out of the wrapper
Aldi own brand Gin - better than most big brands and I've tried a few

Serenity45 · 10/09/2020 21:23

Forgot Morrison's fig and date grain bio yoghurt. I hate runny yoghurt and this one is SO thick and gloopy and grainy.

Shoprite's New York yellow cheddar. It's mild with just the right tang. It makes a heavenly mac and cheese

No way can American cheddar be anything like the real thing or anything like as good - America and cheese do not belong in the same sentence (they're almost as bad at cheese as they are at chocolate) never mind Cheddar

@Grapesoda7 Thu 10-Sep-20 16:59:43
I love grape flavour, especially all the grape American candy.

I really love grape flavour too - especially in the form of red wine.

It's not a different thing, but a quality thing - Lidl fresh whole chicken is gorgeous. Far better than anything I have had from elsewhere

Therunecaster · 10/09/2020 21:41

@Honeyhoneyy

The absolute best thing I’ve found in recent years is the Danish pastries, pain au chocolates & croissants in the frozen aisle. Pop them in the oven for 20 minutes for a little breakfast/brunch treat. They smell amazing as they cook and taste delicious 😋
Oh me too!
midnightstar66 · 10/09/2020 21:46

Aldi fiery chilli mini oatcakes. Lovely with a mature cheddar and any one of the lovely sounding chutneys or glazes mentioned!

Kasparovski · 10/09/2020 21:48

Sriracha sauce!

PamDenick · 10/09/2020 21:49

Great thread. Thanks.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 10/09/2020 21:57

ToTickleAMockingbird, mine was from Sainsbury's. The brand is Odysea.

VaggieMight · 10/09/2020 22:03

Possibly not within the trend of the thread but anything frozen. Chopped onion, garlic chillis, ginger etc. I like to cook from scratch but I'm a a lazy cook. The chopped onions also helps with teary eyes.

Washinglinewench29 · 10/09/2020 22:11

Cheese muffins from Morrisons 45p absolutely amazing toasted with 'norpak' probably outing as i have literally raved about these all week IRL

CompleteBarstool · 10/09/2020 22:11
@CompleteBarstool

I always look at those Alpro desserts but have yet to buy any. Have you tried the caramel?
oooooh I've never seen caramel ones.

If they're as lovely as the chocolate ones they'll be delicious

FrankiesKnuckle · 10/09/2020 22:13

Frozen combined garlic and ginger cubes in the Asian freezer foods section are a winner. Second buying spices again from world foods/Asian food aisles.
Tesco meatballs with carrot and onion are a hit with my DC too.
In fact, I've pretty much converted back to Tesco these days from Aldi, and price wise there's not much difference apart from coming out with items you never knew you wanted from the aisle of wonder.

Alwaysinpain · 10/09/2020 22:14

@Bloomburger

Yes I do bags of mini cinnamon rolls which are lovely. You have to eat the whole bag though.

Sainsbury's do snyders jalapeño pretzel pieces which are lovely hot and spicy broken bits of baked pretzels they're really low calorie for a snack too compared to crisps and nuts.

Which supermarket has the mini cinnamon rolls please?
