Just a bit of fun. I always end up buying similar food items in my weekly shop. Occasionally I’ll try something new and it’s really nice and I’ll continue to buy it. For example last week I bought some balsamic chutney from Morrison’s- it was so good I’ve added it to most sandwich fillings yum 😋

Have you bought anything new recently which you’ve been really impressed with?

VitreousHumour · 10/09/2020 19:18

I am so thrilled With this thread - finally can share my reco for Winiary brand Mayo. It’s polish. It tastes better than my homemade somehow. Tesco and sainsbos have I think. Also v cheap.

scrappydappydoo · 10/09/2020 19:40

Mrs Balls chutney

CompleteBarstool · 10/09/2020 19:50

Alpro chocolate desserts - they're in pots in packs of 4 (like yoghurts) but are not in the chilled section. So chocolatey..mmmmm.

In Lidl they're by the tinned pineapple, custard, baking stuff etc

LadyGAgain · 10/09/2020 20:05

Salmon Philadelphia is incredible.

CathTurnbull · 10/09/2020 20:09

@CompleteBarstool

I always look at those Alpro desserts but have yet to buy any. Have you tried the caramel?

Chameleon2003 · 10/09/2020 20:29

Kallo lentil cakes - like a rice cake but more flavour. I can't stop eating them spread thickly with Flora Buttery.
Have only seen them in Waitrose so have to go specially.

Eminybob · 10/09/2020 20:30

Pepperdew sweet piquante peppers.
I needed some for a recipe and now have them in all the time. Have them with everything from tray bakes to salads to wraps.

FenellaVelour · 10/09/2020 20:31

Tesco frozen Portuguese tarts. Bloody lovely.

Bbang · 10/09/2020 20:33

Jigglypuffly · 10/09/2020 20:39

Co-op irresistible sea salt and chardonnay vinegar crisps. Also known as magic crisps. Soooooooo moreish it's dangerous.

ScabbyHorse · 10/09/2020 20:45

I love co op sea salt and chardonnay vinegar crisps, very strong just how I like them!

Sainsbury's do a good cheap bottle of mulled wine

I like Lidl marinated herring fillets in cream sauce. Good with brown buttered bread or some cold boiled potatoes.

And I like Aldi mini minty chocolate ice creams less than 100 calories each.

Asda: fresh whole duck £6-7
,
Stockans oatcakes from Orkney for 60p,

Sparking water with lime juice (39pish )from the baking aisle so refreshing

Buy growing herbs (60ish p) and plant them, cheaper than buying a plant, and fresh,
Nairns: fruit and seed oatcakes, rosemary flatbread and chocolate oatcake/biscuits.

Asda sell 500g cooking bacon for 75p, it's not watery rubbish either, but juicy, meaty cuts,

Flatbreads/pitta they are so delicious,

Castello creamy blue soft cheese, very delicious

Mornflake oatbran, lower in carbs than porridge,

Flavahans porridge oats

Kallo corn cakes (remind me of sunblest corn flakes),
Kallo wholegrain rice puff breakfast cereal,

Tarrentella organic passata,

Tetley earl grey tea bags, better than twinnings

Asda frozen basa fillets, delicious poached,

Frozen veg can be cheaper than fresh

Albert Bassett frozen chips are incredible,

Asda in the gluten free frozen section sell mozzarella sticks and they are beautiful,

Mackerel fillets in sun-dried tomato sauce

Rice noodles from Asda,

Lindt 65% milk chocolate 80g bar, it's creamy and smooth but low in sugar,

Kenco decaf coffe imo is the best,

Genius crisp breads,

English lakes ice cream,

Asda sell Macedonian tahini, it's soo good,

Morrisons sell Duck eggs

ScabbyHorse · 10/09/2020 20:47

Didn't see your post @Jigglypuffly promise!!!

dementedma · 10/09/2020 20:48

Can’t find tahini in any of the supermarkets round here

Peegreenlie12 · 10/09/2020 20:48

Aldi organico wine £4.99 is incredible value

Totickleamockingbird · 10/09/2020 20:48

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams

Oh and pomegranate syrup from the world foods aisle. Fab over salads, especially with feta, it tastes almost balsamic-y, but you can also dilute it with sparkling water and it makes a very nice sweet/sour drink.
Which supermarket? Smile
ToastyCrumpet · 10/09/2020 20:53

M&S have dark chocolate and ginger florentines and I can’t even . . .

Osquito · 10/09/2020 20:54

(Busy writing a shopping list)

Forgot to say Aldi’s specially selected flatbreads are THE BEST. Have bought from M&S, Tesco Finest etc. and nothing compares... they’re cheap, thick, soft and last well, so a great cupboard staple.

Doggybiccys · 10/09/2020 20:56

Schwartz Garlic pepper - totally addicted. I put it on everything !

VinylDetective · 10/09/2020 20:57

M&S do the best ever yogurt. The Greek in the big tub is amazing, so is the apple crumble one. Needless to say, they’re both frequently sold out.
