I would have to be George Sampson.

I've never met Colin Firth but I know he is a nice person because he has a stalker who he always stops and has a chat with when he sees her. To me, he is the most beautiful man in the world, and I woukd probably pass out cold if I ever met him.

hopperstranger · 12/09/2020 12:26

Met a few celebrities thru work.

Most famous was probably George Best.

DarkMintChocolate · 12/09/2020 12:36

Probably Sir John Mills (and Juliet, Hayley, Adrian). My husband was treasurer of a charity with many celebrities as patrons.

For me, the most exciting was sitting next to Andrew Sachs at a dinner; and he did Manuel for me! He and his wife were lovely!

Burt Kwok was another patron - he did a Cato type surprise leap. Very funny!

Lee Dixon - DS was in the same class as his son! I have no interest in football and wouldn’t know who he was otherwise. He was always very nice!

Somanysocks · 12/09/2020 12:47

Boy George, very tall and a lot nicer than you would expect.

And Paul Young came into my supermarket where I worked. Lovely man.

CleanQueen123 · 12/09/2020 12:59

@Othering she is absolutely lovely. It was actually a paid event I was at and just happened to be seated next to her and Emily for the evening.

She's incredibly dedicated and all about the horses. I got the impression she does the public stuff because that's what sponsors expect and that's how she pays for the horses, but she doesn't overly enjoy it.

Emily is also very dedicated but obviously enjoys the meeting the public and everything else that comes with having sponsorship deals.

Othering · 12/09/2020 13:04

You can keep Emily for me, after the whole crowd funding fiasco but I'm glad to hear that Mary was lovely. I have lots of horsey gossip but it's a bit too niche for here 😁

honeygirlz · 12/09/2020 13:28

@CleanQueen123

Only famous if you're horsey but I've had dinner with Mary and Emily King.

Those who've met Cillian Murphy, what's he like in real life???

I’ve not met him but on a recent thread (think it was the rude airplane passengers one), someone said Cillian and his son were sitting behind her (in Economy) and his son kicked her seat throughout the flight and Cillian didn’t stop him.

As a youngster working in a book shop I once served Jim Bowen of 'Bullseye' fame, at the time he was on the Northern comedian circuit. He was polite, as are most people.

Saw Vicky McClure coming out of a local supermarket with a laden trolley - she looked more 'polished' than your average human being has a right to be on an early morning. As did Sue Devaney - ex Corrie.

Sweetcheeks21 · 12/09/2020 13:54

@Sweetcheeks21

Pierce Brosnan and Michael J Fox. And David Beckham.
Pierce Brosnan lovely, very chatty. Michael J Fox equally lovely despite me starting a conversation then suddenly being so star struck I was lost for words. David Beckham (plus rest of United team) used to frequent a club I used to go to. All lovely, Phil Neville gave us a bottle of champagne and we talked about footy 😅
IntermittentParps · 12/09/2020 14:50

Sweetpea, I LOVE that story about Cher. I absolutely adore her.

Whatamesshasbreakfast, I can only think of Kate Moss but I may be well out of date Grin

KitMarlowesCodpieceOfthigh · 12/09/2020 14:59

@DianasLasso The Hallé?

KitMarlowesCodpieceOfthigh · 12/09/2020 15:01

Mark Elder touched me, once, on the arm, while making a joke. I nearly died. Very charismatic conductor.

KitMarlowesCodpieceOfthigh · 12/09/2020 15:03

And I met Emma Kirkby (soprano) backstage at the Sage, Gateshead in the interval of a concert. We were all looking for the loos in a gang. She was so lovely. She's a goddess.

Holothane · 12/09/2020 15:03

Peter Capaldi a true gent and gorgeous to hug, I still remember every second five years on, meeting him was fantastic before my health issues kicked in.

JustMeUnderATree · 12/09/2020 15:09

Michael Elphick from Boon as had friends whose dad had a friend who worked at the itv studios in Birmingham many years ago & we met him and his daughter. He was lovely.

For the Irish, we'd done a stint of Irish dancing at Brum's Irish Centre and Brendan Shine held my hand from the stage, not swoon but at 7/8 i wanted him to be my dad Grin.

PinkPanther27 · 12/09/2020 15:10

I’ve met loads, my most famous are probably Blue, Vernon Keating, Ray Davies, Matt Bellamy (Muse), Blur.

PinkPanther27 · 12/09/2020 15:13

Funniest- the guy DJ Talent who sang “Where’s my keys where’s my phone” on Britain’s Got Talent was staying at the same hotel as us 😂😂

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 12/09/2020 15:30

Just remembered David Easter once sent me flying in Altrincham whilst trying to escape some Brookside fans .

CleanQueen123 · 12/09/2020 15:56

@Othering I know what you mean! Someone asked me my opinion on crowdfunding their horse a while ago and I cited that as a "how not to do it" example Confused

CleanQueen123 · 12/09/2020 15:57

@honeygirlz oh no. I was hoping people would say he was lovely Sad
