@IntermittentParps
I'm so glad I told it then...Mum took a photo that she cherishes

On another note, my DH actually peeped in on John Travolta! DH is kind of clueless..as in like the characters Chevy Chase portrays in films.
He was visiting NYC...decided to go for a walk early one morning. He's walking along and sees one of those old family station wagon cars that people in America had in the 60s and 70s to haul around their large families. He couldn't quite pencil out why is was sitting there in the middle of a plaza and it was all banged up with mud covering the windows ... So he walks up to the driver's side window, wipes away a bit of the mud ( he's a bit of a Curious George), puts his hands up to his eyes like you do and peeps in.....only to find John Travolta with a big grin on his face looking back at him.
A security guard runs over, tells DH to beat it because he has just walked into the movie set for the film, "Michael " !! John did roll down the window and say a proper hello...he wasn't even a bit angry with DH for causing the set to be ruined. Great film if you like John Travolta and comedy. Btw, John Travolta is super nice AND was born in the same hospital as meGrin

Just thought of something...does anyone even know who the great Tony Hawk is? He's World famous but you would never know it. He comes from an extremely salt of the earth kind of family.
I also met Shawn White and his mom before he was famous. He was an phenomenal athlete even at about 10 years old. He is very down to earth and nice.

I'm enjoying reading these with attached stories since silly o clock when I can't sleep, so adding a few more of my own with stories...

Dame Vera Lynn - I didn't recognise her when I picked up a glove dropped by an elderly lady to give back to her in what turned out to be her home town. She was so lovely, down to earth & so grateful & we stopped & chatted fir about 15 minutes, she wanted to know about my shopping trolly & lipstick & went off to get herself a MAC lipstick after I told her😂. Still didn't realise who she was until later, even though she introduced herself as Vera it didn't click, but I did think she was strangely very familiar, but I just thought I might have seen her before.

Kylie Minogue. Came into my shop & bought from me a few times, tiny, always very friendly, funny & swore like a trooper which was a bit of a shock & even more funny at the time as she was still goody 2 shoes on TV

Danny Minogue, again via work but years later when she was at the height of her fame. I was working with her on a project she was basically just the face for. Don't think I've ever worked or met with a more obnoxious cow & I've known a lot. My job was to keep her in check on the project too, so that was a fun job, not. I was ready to strangle her before the few days were up. Gobsmacking difference between her & her much more famous & truly lovely sister.

Idris Elba, met via his then girlfriend who worked in the same industry & knew friends & I went out drinking with them several times. It was pre him hitting the big time, but he was acting & known, just not to me, so I miss heard his name as Chris & spent the night calling him that instead the first night. He didn't correct me Blush& was a really lovely genuine, funny guy, very ordinary looking, with a bit of a paunch though.

Michael Gove, met at a school when he was Ed secretary. He was attempting to be charming, but he made my skin crawl in a way that I've experienced only one before & that person was put away for child murder & multiple rape. I literally felt nauseous when he shook my hand.

SingingInTheShithouse · 13/09/2020 07:40

& I really want to know the story to meeting Geoff Goldblum, I never do star struck & weak at the knees, but I might for him 😆

Was he nice ?

LadyEggs · 13/09/2020 08:33

Jaws

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 13/09/2020 09:22

@SingingInTheShithouse I directed jeff Goldblum reading his first (and only) audiobook. He was amazing, brilliant performer who too directing from a nobody and then invited me and my family to hang out with his family in his pool, has become a peripheral friend. A true gentleman

SingingInTheShithouse · 13/09/2020 09:33

Ijumped. Thank you, I hoped he would be a nice guy as he comes across as one, but he's an actor, so who knows, great to know he actually is Smile
