The Princess Royal formally opened the maternity ward two days after I gave birth to my son and came to talk to all of us while she was there.
She was lovely and had really thoughtful different questions for us all.
By that time even my mum hadn’t visited so my sons first visitor was a Princess 😊

Blueskysunsout · 11/09/2020 19:03

Vernon Kay. He was a sour faced arse.

I served Joanna Lumley in my mum’s shop, unfortunately I was about 15 (in the 80s!) and had no clue who she was!

takethegirloutofwales · 11/09/2020 19:15

Prince Charles, William Hague, Patrick Stewart, Peter Andre, Gwyneth Paltrow, J-Lo, Charlotte Church...Ultimate is Timmy Mallett though to be fair! (I was a radio journo - these weren’t all chance meetings). Is that cheating???

Hadsuchahardday · 11/09/2020 19:16

George Michael 1993 outside his house in Hampstead and (finally) Andrew Ridgeley at his book signing in 2018.

I got pissed with her and Audrey off Corrie once. We were all on a chat show in Belfast (The Kelly Show, don't know if it's still going, this was the early 90s). We got started in the green room after the show and carried on at our hotel. We were STEAMING. She kept ordering champagne and calling me 'dear' with a very posh accent. Audrey was brilliant - really giggly and fun. We had a little pissed dance and everything. Her OH was there, he was on the chat show too - he played Alan Bradley in Corrie. Very charming, quiet and handsome and he clearly adored her!

Love this thread, OP! Thanks for starting it
My mum met Cher in Atlantic City ,NJ.
Cher was staying at a house on the boardwalk
She and my auntie were going down the street to the boardwalk. They saw a few teenage girls huddled together on the sidewalk ...they asked what was happening...the girls said that Cher was staying in this house and it was time for her to go to rehearsals...about that time, out she pops from the front door...everybody suddenly gets the giggles and they were too timid to approach her. She walked towards them and very kindly told them to come on over for a chat. Of course, mum and auntie joined the group. She did not have on a stitch of makeup on, her hair was tied up in a scarf, and she had on jogging pants...but she was amazingly beautiful because she is such a genuine person..she took time to sign an autograph for each girl, posed for photos, and asked each one a personal question...I think she would have stayed there for hours if it weren't for her assistant who kept prodding her to hurry up or she was going to miss her rehearsal. She is such a kind person .

Mine's not so glamorous .. I had a uni class with President of the US Jimmy Carter's nieceGrin.

Oh one more...I was on a gameshow and got to meet , Alex Trebek from Jeopardy....I lead a very exciting life...
I live an hour outside of Hollywood, California so I have gone there looking for stars.... never seen a one...once my sister was visiting and wanted to go star searching..we didn't see a single famous person...it got so bad that if we'd see someone walking down the street who even remotely looked like a star, ..we'd excitedly say, "Oh, look...its Marilyn Monroe!" ( she'd been dead for 20 years) " Hey! I think that's John Travolta!"
We had more fun doing it our way Grin

NHS and Charity work plus a DC who was in several west end shows so met quite a few people considered famous. I am always therefore impressed with those that make an effort for those who live with a disability or famous actors who watch a show and come and thank the cast. Princess Diana really did come across well as did Elton John. Some didn't but it may have been lack of experience. My children are more impressed I met Tom Holland (Spiderman)
I once had to speak at a charity event with my talk sandwiched between princess Sophie of Wessex and Michael Portilo ....I was glad I had some good slides
