I would have to be George Sampson.

George Michael (randomly we were at a BBQ together), Phil Collins (in an elevator in Sears Tower), Paul McCartney (we were members at the same sailing club), the Cradle of Filth guys, Brian May (I literally bumped into him and dropped all my bloody shopping), one of the producers of Star Wars (plus a handful of the cast)

My little brother (when he was a teenager) got pissed and rocked up at Gloria Hunniford’s house with a pizza and knocked on door asking if she wanted to share pizza and tinnies with his mates and him. She told them to clear off!!!

Geppili · 10/09/2020 20:08

Mrs Thatcher at a publisher's book launch of DF's book. She was very rude to me and concentrated on all the men. Her diamonds were dazzling!

P999 · 10/09/2020 20:10

Oh. Briefly met Boy George about 20 years ago. I was a waitress at the time. He was funny and friendly and lovely.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 10/09/2020 20:11

Probably Paul Tortelier but it was (obviously!) very long ago.

Also: Billy Graham.

DeadDoorpost · 10/09/2020 20:15

George Takei and Dawn French. George was with his husband whonwas also lovely and Dawn told me I looked absolutely gorgeous (I was 5 months pregnant at the time so it was massively encouraging lol)

Thisbastardcomputer · 10/09/2020 20:19

Eddie Jordan, waiting to check out of a hotel, I said, I know where I know you from now .... work, he nearly pissed himself.

PunishmentSnart · 10/09/2020 20:20

@Winniewonka

Not exactly met but I was behind Bill Nighy when he was buying clothes in a London shop.

Also I was once on the front row of the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. It's theatre in the round so your seats are literally on the stage with the actors. It was a Noel Coward play with Sam Heughan (pre Outlander) and Will Young. They might as well have been in my lounge, we were so close! Both men are extremely handsome in the flesh and taller than you think.

Same. The Vortex?

Both very beautiful - I am a die hard Will fan, he’s known to not be very pleasant and I’m sorry to say, this has been my experience of waiting by many a stage door when I was younger. I’ve been to more or less everything he’s been in and got something signed ONCE and managed to lose it when on a night out after the show Hmm

The one that made me most starstruck was not an actual meeting but a phone conversation: I once spoke long-distance on the phone with Tom Lehrer, asking him for permission to quote from one of his songs in something that I was writing. He granted the permission. As I've always been a huge fan, it made me feel a bit giddy actually talking to him.

The most improbable one is that when we were both very small children, I once played with Bill Browder. I thought that I might have imagined this, but it has been confirmed by a third party.

I've met quite a few over the years, which is surprising considering I have a pretty boring life, but my favourites would have to be Pele and Malcolm Marshall.

My uncle is a vicar, and he did Jude Law’s funeral. He had no idea who Jude Law was, but my cousins were pretty impressed to find him drinking tea in the rectory.

Cheeringmeup · 10/09/2020 21:27

Chuck Berry - I was awestruck and gibbering 😆

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 10/09/2020 21:28

@BikeRunSki Jude Law isn't dead? I assume there's a word missing. Unless your Uncle regularly has tea with the deceased Grin

DianasLasso · 10/09/2020 21:28

Are you confusing him with someone else? Jude Law is still alive!
