@WuthPP

OK now look here - all these people who have met Colin Firth and no one will say what he is like?

I'm gonna have a tantrum.......................

WuthPP I have already asked nicely, twice
lljkk · 10/09/2020 17:24

No one who was famous when I met them.
A childhood friend played for NFL briefly, so must have been on national TV.
DS went to school with someone who has played for England (women's football) so we see her on telly sometimes.

My brief brushes with public speaking have taught me I don't want to meet famous people. I don't even want to be centre of attention by association.

HowFastIsTooFast · 10/09/2020 17:27

Cor Henry Cavill gets around a bit doesn't he?

I've met him too, and had dinner with Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (during his Tudors days when he was quite famous)

Served coffee to a very lovely David Jason when I was about 17

Had a brief chat with Martin Kemp at an event a couple of years ago. I told him how much my Mum adores him, in hindsight that might not have been the most flattering thing for me to say Grin

SpottedOnMN · 10/09/2020 17:27

Frank Turner. Lovely man.

HowFastIsTooFast · 10/09/2020 17:28

Oooh and Greg James from Radio One. He's very very tall and handsome. I'd recently been readings his Wife's book and basically just babbled into his face about how great she is.

@PuttyPat

Oh and I had a friend who was good friends with Tom Hardy's ex wife so she met him quite a few times at their kids parties and stuff. Didn't meet him myself though 💔
One of my close friends has 'met' Tom Hardy in the way I have dreamt of meeting Tom Hardy, IYKWIM.

After years of being coy about it she once had a few too many wines and spilled ALL the beans Wink

That's a thread about tenuous links
AngelNova · 10/09/2020 17:53

@threecatsandcounting

I've met a lot

Tom Hanks, Cyndi Lauper, Terry Gilliam, Sebastian Stan, Christoph Waltz

Too many to name really - some were absolutely lovely, some were horrendous!

Sebastian Stan? Oh I love this man so much!
Talia99 · 10/09/2020 17:53

Saw Pierce Brosnan at the theatre (a musical in the West End - he was with his wife and then young kids and I happened to be standing in the right place to see them slipping out a staff door and getting into a blacked out car afterwards)

Actually met Jilly Cooper - went to her house with someone (fairly junior) she worked with and we were invited in.

Where do you ladies meet all these famous folks????? The Pope? Bill Clinton?

No idea about the Pope, but lots of Americans, including me, have met Bill Clinton. It's not that hard to meet a politician, especially one like Bill Clinton, who loves to meet and greet, when they are running for office. I met him for the first time when he was governor of Arkansas. I've also met Hillary several times. Both were engaging and charming, especially Bill, but that's not surprising. Politicians are seldom grumpy on the campaign trail.

Ingridla · 10/09/2020 18:17
