I’ve posted about this before but now the roof is on it’s really starting to annoy me. It’s going to be a fucking wood workshop along with all the noise & dust that goes with it 😡

Ie informed the council - who are hot to look into the planning permission aspect.

In the meantime has anyone any ideas how we can cover this up so it’s not a complete eyesore?

Ideally nothing planted as we got rid of grass & plants last year to give us a low maintenance garden. The sun is overhead most of the day so I don’t think it will block our light.

And the trampoline didn’t used to be there - it was there temporarily but we’ve left it there because I want to annoy them - I know I’m being petty 😜

I think that goes against building standards because it comes above your fence?

Otherwise....bigger fence, spikes on top, LED solar disco lights, get some palm trees planted to tower over your even bigger fence etc

oakleaffy · 10/09/2020 18:55

@Velvetlover65

I looked at the photo before reading, didnt even notice the roof. I thought the post was going to about having no sides on the trampoline. Then i read and had to look again, i dont see the problem
Take a look at OP's second pic...It looks innocuous in her opening pic, as it hasn't a roof... Look at it from her upstairs window...Looks ...well... Jerry built 😂
EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 10/09/2020 18:56

I thought the whinge was about the trampoline

DalzielandPaxo · 10/09/2020 18:58

FFS. I’m sure your kids leaping up and down peering at them and squealing annoys the shit out of your neighbours, too.

And get a grip, noise and dust associated with a woodwork hobbyist?! 😆 at least they’re not making meth.

Get a hobby.

Maybe woodwork.

Cockadoodledooo · 10/09/2020 19:04

Would that have put you off buying/renting your home if it was there before you moved in?

oakleaffy · 10/09/2020 19:05

Trampolines are ghastly..They should be kept for huge gardens, not suburbia where they make horrendous noise and impact on privacy

They sound like very heavy couples having sex on a noisy bed.

WHUMP..squawlk WHUMP squeak WHUMP squeek WHUMP

Plus the bobbing heads and flailing limbs...

If you have a large field they are ok, but not towering over neighbours fences and walls.

Cockadoodledooo · 10/09/2020 19:06

@DalzielandPaxo 🤣 @*maybe woodwork!

oakleaffy · 10/09/2020 19:12

This is the noise OP may have to tolerate. ...Sounds like a planer/thicknesser.

Definitely

I really couldn't see anything wrong about the picture. Looks like a normal back garden to me!

LST · 10/09/2020 19:24

@catwaving good on you for realising what a dick you sounded

gingganggooleywotsit · 10/09/2020 19:29

I wouldn't like it. Think you'll have to make your fence higher with trellis and fake ivy if you don't want to plant anything.

Tessabelle1 · 10/09/2020 19:32

My Dad has a woodwork shed, there is no dust as most machines now have vacuum extraction on them. As for the sliver of roof of a very nice looking shed, you're been VU to be irritated so much by it.

millymoo1202 · 10/09/2020 19:33

My neighbours garage is in exact same position and so is our trampoline, he used to moan about occasional ball coming over fence, I caught DS and friend standing on roof and jumping on our trampoline, he’d have had heart failure! Honestly I don’t see the problem but I’d be monitoring the noise as that’s the problem

BronwenFrideswide · 10/09/2020 19:40

The poster(s) describing that monstrosity as a nice looking shed or innocuous need an urgent appointment with an optician.

Feelinggoodtuesday · 10/09/2020 19:43

Ha, the neighbourly game of cat and mouse. No ideas OP. You have a trampoline, which is the devil’s work as far as I’m concerned. So a shed is fair game! Hopefully they’ll soon get bored with wood working and it will be just an eyesore instead of dust/noise/eye irritant.

Mydarlingsleepthief · 10/09/2020 19:45

What’s the problem?

DagenhamRoundhouse · 10/09/2020 19:47

There's no legal limit on how tall bamboo can grow.

BringBiscuits · 10/09/2020 19:48

Sorry I don’t see what is so bad about it. It’s only a little taller than your fence and doesn’t block view or light. YABU

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 10/09/2020 19:52

If you think that’s bad you should see the garage that the house behind us built. His property sort of backs on to ours and he built a double garage with room above. It absolutely towers over our garden, it’s like a small bungalow behind the fence. All I can see out of every window downstairs is red tiled roof, where there used to be trees and sky. Fucking awful and I hate it.

claireyjs · 10/09/2020 19:53

Are you for real?🤣🤣🤣 Get a life, its a shed 🤦‍♀️

winniestone37 · 10/09/2020 19:58

Erm you’re annoyed because your neighbour put up a shed?! Is this a joke?!!!

winniestone37 · 10/09/2020 20:04

Crying with laughter at this thread- I can see it’s a workshop now and it’s kind of ugly but well that’s life. I don’t think you have any particular rights unless it’s a business to object. Trampolines anywhere in a garden give a view into other people’s spaces and make a noise. I’m sick of the neighbours kids looking over. As for their conservatory being full of crap so essentially their feelings don’t matter, that doesn’t make you look good. You silly and entitled.

SugarNyx · 10/09/2020 20:04

I’d pissed off about the trampoline looking over my garden tbh

MyWitzEnd · 10/09/2020 20:31
