Summarise in maximum 3 words the performance of the current UK government

Summarise in maximum 3 words the performance of the current UK government

Why is your post so wordy then?

you were all over those threads cutting & pasting in support of Cummings, only to say you weren't particularly a fan of him!

I'm not a great fan but I don't mind pointing out disingenuous misquotes and incorrect facts - I have pointed out the occasional misquote attributed to Donald Trump as well - he says enough nonsense without the media making stuff up.

@GetOffYourHighHorse - the link you missed.

'There was significantly more testing capacity available than was used right back in March but PHE declined to use it. Mike Nurse was offering testing in his labs and so were many others.'

Yes this is true, finally something relevant! PHE didn't get their arses in gear fast enough. Thankfully Hancock is getting shot of them and there'll be a new organisation in place. PHE were so out of their depth.

There’s been plenty that’s relevant but it’s inconvenient because it refutes your argument.
GetOffYourHighHorse · 09/09/2020 13:09

'posted a link days ago showing that care homes were pressured to take untested discharges.'

Oh for goodness sake, I haven't ever suggested they weren't discharged without a test. The point is the care homes should have isolated them, as they would ŕoutinely a patient with norovirus or mrsa.

This surely proves private run care homes, charging a small fortune and paying their staff peanuts need a complete managerial overhaul.

thecatsatonthewall · 09/09/2020 13:11

PHE is an arm of the govt, it does not operate in a vacuum, unlike the space between Hancocks ears.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 09/09/2020 13:15

'PHE is an arm of the govt, it does not operate in a vacuum, unlike the space between Hancocks ears.'

Hahaha! all the lolz.

Yes of course, however some organisations sadly only show their ineptitude in a crisis. They were great at chicken pox monitoring.

Clavinova · 09/09/2020 13:20

Clavinova I haven’t seen one single post of yours that attempts to defend this (or, you know, admit that you were misled by government in December/January re Brexit): government intend to break the law, specifically so they don’t have to honour an agreement that they negotiated, voted on, signed, ratified, boasted about, won election on, but are now saying is rubbish and needs to be scrapped.

The accusation is that the EU haven't acted in good faith during the negotiations - I'm going with that.

As for violating international law obligations;

“You must live in a left-wing echo chamber - even Survation has Boris Johnson ahead of Keir Starmer as best Prime Minister 41% to 36%”

This baffles me- I know plenty of right wingers and very few of them have much to say in Boris’s favour!

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 09/09/2020 13:24

You still haven’t answered the question, the WA can only either be a brilliant oven ready deal to get Brexit done, or it’s a a load of shit that puts the internal market at risk, it can’t be both. Can you admit you were misled about the WA in December?

jasjas1973 · 09/09/2020 13:30

Johnson told us all what a great deal the WA was, Oven Ready, all sorted, "Get Brexit done!"

Now its a bad deal and needs changing as the problems identified were "unforeseen" in other words, just like IDS, he didn't read the small print... i mean who does???? just like taking out travel insurance for week.

We now have a PM that tells us that leaving the EU without a FTA is a "good thing" so presumably getting a deal would be a "bad thing"?

So, that begs the question why on earth are they still negotiating????

ChavvySexPond · 09/09/2020 13:36

Shit Test and Trace = No Normal Life.

How much longer will we put up with this chaos?

Howslifenow · 09/09/2020 13:41

Shitshambles. I'm having that word.
Clavinova · 09/09/2020 13:47

Can you admit you were misled about the WA in December?

I can't say I was misled because we did leave the EU - I was also aware that 'no deal' was still a possibility.

If it makes you feel any better;
"Environment secretary George Eustice has denied that Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal was not ‘oven ready’, saying that they are attempting to tie up ‘loose ends’ surrounding the agreement."

"Appearing on the Today programme, Eustice explained: “The deal was always very clear, it had the Northern Ireland protocol, it set out the arrangements that would prevent the need for any checks along the Northern Ireland border but there were also one or two finer points of detail that still had to be resolved”.

“The prime minister has been clear, we’re not after anything exceptional or special really.”

“We understand the EU’s position on these things but we do think an agreement along the lines of the agreement the EU has with Canada, a fairly standard but quite ambitious free trade agreement, is something worth doing and we stand ready to do that."

"You will have noticed the European Union have been reluctant to engage on that basis and appear to be somewhat in denial about the fact that we do genuinely want to be an independent country so those negotiations have not been easy."

My first post to the thread was 3 words "^All of the above"

I note neither you or @GetOffYourHighHorse have given 3 (supportive) summaritive words on the Government's performance unlike so many other posters who were able to find 3 words to sum it up

I'm not a great fan but I don't mind pointing out disingenuous misquotes and incorrect facts
Would that be on behalf of the Conservative party?

Mumratheevergiving · 09/09/2020 13:59

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 09/09/2020 14:14

No it doesn’t make me feel any better I’m afraid, I don’t like politicians lying to the public. It’s actually laughable that you still can’t admit that Boris lied about his deal. Like I said, you and others like you who support a political party like a football club are the root cause of everything that is wrong with this country right now. The government have got you right where they want you in that they could do literally anything - tank economy, thousands dead, effectively cut off NI from rUK, breach international law, break up Union - and you still won’t criticise them because you’re a Tory and of course being a Tory means that you have to blindly support all their decisions without any critical thinking whatsoever. All because of this stupid, manufactured left v right culture war that we seem to have adopted since the referendum.

jasjas1973 · 09/09/2020 14:18

...but leaving without a deal is a "good thing" but we also want a deal.....

UK wants to be able to trade freely inside the SM, without any cost or restriction and able to side step the SM's rules - seems fair enough to me.

That was a few days ago - my first post followed on from your longer post this morning. You led me astray!!

unlike so many other posters who were able to find 3 words to sum it up

Looking through the thread the majority of posts appear to be longer than 3 words. However;

Managing difficult circumstances.

TheABC · 09/09/2020 14:20

Out of interest, @Clavinova, is there anything you would consider unacceptable by the Government? Do you have a line in the sand?

We have already established you don't mind corruption, lies, illegal actions or incompetence.

Clavinova · 09/09/2020 14:34

Do you have a line in the sand?

Yes, I was crestfallen that Labour's promise of £6,700 for every household didn't hold true - my one consolation if they had won the general election in December;
