Summarise in maximum 3 words the performance of the current UK government

OP posts:
jasjas1973 · 09/09/2020 12:21

....latest Opinium poll has Lab and Con on 40% each .... (2-4th Sept)

How you can defend an idiot like Hancock is beyond belief, though doubtless if he was sacked by Johnson, you'd be on here telling us all what a far sighted and intelligent decision by Bojo.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 09/09/2020 12:22

'Care homes do not have the facilities, PPE or staff to isolate large numbers of severely ill patients, the Govt knew this (or should of)'

Of course they don't. The patients discharged home or to a care home were clinically ready for discharge, not 'severely ill'. They didn't transfer ICU patients en masse y'know.

In the absence of testing capacity all the care homes had to do was implement the most basic of infection prevention and control practise by isolating disharged patients and handwashing but some clearly failed. The rich care home owners should have had a stock of ppe to cope with outbreaks of anything, norovirus is common in care homes.

Some care homes infection control seems poor to say the least. I hope they are held accountable.

Clavinova · 09/09/2020 12:25

Who was the other poster who was also a right wing plant

You must live in a left-wing echo chamber - even Survation has Boris Johnson ahead of Keir Starmer as best Prime Minister 41% to 36%;

SallySeven · 09/09/2020 12:27

There are genuine right wingers in the world.

I can't watch Johnson without cringing bit I have to accept that people with different background to me think he's normal/ fine/ upbeat kind of guy. The surveys day so.

What does your post have to do with asking who the plant was?
Not a bottish copy and paste irrelevant to the question asked at all at all.

@GetOffYourHighHorse

'Taking “inspiration” from Fat Boris’ “pyramid of piffle”

I had a hand wringer earlier disapproving of my Brylcream Keith comment but I bet 'Fat Boris' won't be frowned upon.

Of course not. Is Boris fat? It’s merely stating a fact.
Port1aCastis · 09/09/2020 12:30

Ah yes Claig is the poster who I was thinking of, definitely a tory plant that one was, but she did amuse me at times because her devotion was quite ott and she never seemed to sleep or she'd developed an algorithm to detect an anti tory post and then she'd jump on very quickly even at 4am. Grin
She was the propaganda princess Smile

TheSeedsOfADream · 09/09/2020 12:30

@Port1aCastis do you know though, Claig really admired Tony Benn. MN was intellectually stimulating back in the day when despite being polar opposites politically you could actually engage in intelligent discussion.
Then came the bots and plants. Confused

Port1aCastis · 09/09/2020 12:31

I love that phrase Pyramid of Piffle brilliant description

GetOffYourHighHorse · 09/09/2020 12:33

'How you can defend an idiot like Hancock is beyond belief, though doubtless if he was sacked by Johnson, you'd be on here telling us all what a far sighted and intelligent decision by Bojo.'

The planning for the surge worked. NHS nightingale hospitals on standby, millions spent in critical care. I've family and friends in the nhs and nothing was refused.

What has he done that in your opinion that makes him an 'idiot'. Thank god Ashworth isn't in charge of the nhs all he manages are silly put downs as if he's trying to show off to Sir Keith. I feel a bit embarrassed for him watching him in the Commons.

thecatsatonthewall · 09/09/2020 12:33

@GetOffYourHighHorse The NHS discharged elderly patients back into nursing homes before checking the home had the staff, facilities and PPE to cater for them. Advice by PHE was that CV posed little or no risk to patients or staff.

This has been explained to you before.

So my DD was working in social care via an agency, in March and April, they had one mask per shift (4 hours) and could only change it if they worked with a known CV patient.
I gave her gloves from my work & hand sanitizer (i ordered in a batch in January) as they had none, the company i used would post up a batch of sanitizer and within 12mins it would all be sold, no chance to get any.

I think you live in an alternative universe.

Oh do give over. A worldwide shortage of PPE and care home owners were negligent because they didn’t have massive stockpiles? Even the NHS didn’t have enough. Stop banging that drum, please. You’re convincing no one and making yourself look ridiculous.

I'm not a handwringer, and yes, I find 'Fat Boris' equally pathetic. It's a cheap shot.
jasjas1973 · 09/09/2020 12:40

What has he done that in your opinion that makes him an 'idiot'

.....a health secretary that boasts he is changing the law to allow Nurses and Pharmacists to give out vaccinations when they have been able too since 1996, is an idiot.

Almost every parent on here has had their childrens vaccinations done by a nurse.

Clavinova · 09/09/2020 12:41

What does your post have to do with asking who the plant was?

Why does everyone with right-wing views have to be a plant if they dare to post on mumsnet? I don't think I am particularly right-wing myself (I'm not keen on Trump at all) but; "she adored trump and farage" doesn't mean the other poster was a plant.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 09/09/2020 12:41

'A worldwide shortage of PPE and care home owners were negligent because they didn’t have massive stockpiles? Even the NHS didn’t have enough. Stop banging that drum, please. You’re convincing no one and making yourself look ridiculous.'

What should they have done? Kept those ready for discharge in hospital from March until June when testing capacity could cope. Great idea! Confused

Hospital was a higher risk area . All nursing homes had to do was use infection control measures. How did some manage it and some didn't?!

peachescariad · 09/09/2020 12:42

At least not Labour

Clavinova · 09/09/2020 12:46

...a health secretary that boasts he is changing the law to allow Nurses and Pharmacists to give out vaccinations when they have been able too since 1996, is an idiot.

The quote being used isn't clear what he meant. I've not come across one single post that acknowledges this;

"Expand the workforce legally allowed to administer vaccines under NHS and local authority occupational health schemes, so that additional healthcare professionals in the occupational health workforce will be able to administer vaccines. Vaccinations for health and care workers are often administered through occupational health schemes, but only nurses are authorised to administer prescription-only medicines under written instruction of a doctor. The proposals would expand the workforce that can administer COVID-19 and flu vaccinations under an NHS or local authority occupational health scheme so that it also includes midwives, nursing associates, operating department practitioners, paramedics, physiotherapists and pharmacists"

Mumratheevergiving · 09/09/2020 12:47

@Clavinova

Do you really believe what you post?

Yes - I like to stick to the facts.

But the OP was: Summarise in maximum 3 words the performance of the current UK government i.e. what is your own short judgment on the Government's performance.

At the point there was a massive outcry about Covidiot Cummings (while I was genuinely upset that I had stayed away from my grieving mother) you were all over those threads cutting & pasting in support of Cummings, only to say you weren't particularly a fan of him! You can see why people wonder why you pop up on threads to offer (indirect)support for absolutely anything and everything the Government do! Unless of course you do actually think they get everything right all the time. Do the 'facts' really show this to be the case?

@GetOffYourHighHorse 'Fat Boris' is accurately descriptive again. Johnson has spoken openly about being overweight.

VinylDetective · 09/09/2020 12:48

How did some manage it and some didn't?!

Did any care homes forced to take untested hospital discharges “manage it”? Can you perhaps point me to some evidence?

There was significantly more testing capacity available than was used right back in March but PHE declined to use it. Mike Nurse was offering testing in his labs and so were many others.

jasjas1973 · 09/09/2020 12:52

Mr Hancock said: ‘We have changed the law so that more people can administer the jab. We want pharmacists, nurses and GPs to be able to administer the jab.’

Its very clear, no ambiguity.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 09/09/2020 12:53

'The NHS discharged elderly patients back into nursing homes before checking the home had the staff, facilities and PPE to cater for them'

So these patients just appeared on the doorstep?

You know that isn't true. For someone to be discharged to a care home there is a comprehensive system in place. Ward staff don't just wave them off in a taxi with a destination address. The care homes needed to have infection control measures in place as they would at any other time with MRSA etc.

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 09/09/2020 12:56

Clavinova I haven’t seen one single post of yours that attempts to defend this (or, you know, admit that you were misled by government in December/January re Brexit): government intend to break the law, specifically so they don’t have to honour an agreement that they negotiated, voted on, signed, ratified, boasted about, won election on, but are now saying is rubbish and needs to be scrapped.

thecatsatonthewall · 09/09/2020 13:00

So Hospitals released the elderly into CH's that didn't have infection control measures in place. Thank you for confirming it.

Do you not read the news? I posted a link days ago showing that care homes were pressured to take untested discharges. It was still happening well into April. Here’s another link for you. I’ll repost the first one too since you appear to have missed it.
