I'm just asking as DH was watching A Hard Days Night. I'll always love Johns smile Blush

I loved them all but my favourite at age 13 was Ringo. He always had a sense of humour and made me laugh.

SerenityNowwwww · 04/09/2020 16:41

Funnily enough George Harrison has just randomly popped up on my Spotify mix! Set on you...

FuzzyPuffling · 04/09/2020 16:41

Pete Best - because he didn't make the cut.

LadyH846 · 04/09/2020 16:41
@LadyH846 just heard thru the grapevine he could be a bit brusque but that's it
That doesn't sound too bad.

Siameasy · 04/09/2020 16:42

Really despised Lennon after the Cynthia biog. He was just so annoying too about Yoko.
Never liked Paul so probably George as my mum was a teen in the 60s and he was “her man” (Apparently you had to choose one each)

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/09/2020 16:43

I don't think Paul was too bad. He was a perfectionist and could be critical of the others. Ringo quit the band briefly because Paul was criticising his drumming so much.

He had affairs in his youth, the reason Jane Asher called off their engagement is she found him in bed with another woman.

But I think he settled down when he married Linda.

DeborahAnnabelToo · 04/09/2020 16:45

An older man I know knew Ringo as a child and apparently he was very shy and anxious.

TwiggyTwogs · 04/09/2020 16:45

I quite like Yoko to be honestBlush

Always been Paul. Had a huge crush on him when I was young and still like him now

TwiggyTwogs · 04/09/2020 16:46

@DeborahAnnabelToo Poor guy Sad

Ringo was very ill as a child and spent many years in hospital so he barely had any education hence why he's a bit "dim."

TwiggyTwogs · 04/09/2020 16:47

@Waxonwaxoff0 Bless him

@Thurmanmurman

None of them. The Beatles were the most overrated band of all time IMO.
Agree with this. They have the advantage of being the first of thier kind so are still celebrated.

Anyway on the question asked, I think Ringo. (He's aged quite well) be because:

John seemed like he was a complete and utter dickhead.
Paul dickhead
George seems pleasant enough but Ringo has the advantage of being alive, so made the choice easier.

LadyH846 · 04/09/2020 16:52

I thought Ringo was a wife beater?

Whatisthisfuckery · 04/09/2020 16:54

I was a Beatles obsessive as a teenager, 90s. George used to be my favourite, but the older I’ve got the less all the airy fairyness appeals to me. Now I think my favourite is Paul, who was the one who least appealed as a teen. Mind you that might be because I saw him live in 2015. he was amazing, really came across as down to earth and likeable. He might not be of course, but in the absence of any information to the contrary I’ll stick with my illusion. I always thought John came across as a nasty piece of work, even before I knew he was an abusive twat. From what I’ve read about his relationship with Yoko it all looks very unhealthy as well.

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 04/09/2020 16:57

I think Pete was Best.

LakieLady · 04/09/2020 16:58

I've always had a soft spot for Paul - despite the shit 80s and 90s ... he was quite militant about ensuring his kids grew up "normal" so they went to the local comp and he did the school run

He didn't always. Because the school was over 3 miles away, he claimed free transport for them! (A friend and former colleague was the manager of the school and public transport team.)

LakieLady · 04/09/2020 17:00

John for his acerbic wit and intelligence and George because he was just so all-round lovely.

CherryValanc · 04/09/2020 17:00

Well that would be bad. George it is then.

I have very little time for people who get niggardly when people live by the rules.

If he was entitled to free transport, then WTF shouldn't he claim it ? Bearing in mind his taxes probably paid not only for the bus, the school and the road between the two, but the hospital in between, since he never chose to become a tax exile.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/09/2020 17:06

Ringo wasn't a "wife beater" as such - he did beat Barbara once in a drunken state but was horrified the next day and entered rehab, he's been teetotal ever since. So it was a one off incident, not that it's any excuse. Never heard anything about him beating his first wife.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 04/09/2020 17:07

Paul was always my favourite with George coming in 2nd. John always came across as rather unpleasant and when he got together with Yoko and then did all the love-in, well he lost all credibility in my eyes.

Beating a woman once makes someone a wife beater in my eyes.
Member984815 · 04/09/2020 17:11

Used to be George but after hearing how he treated his wife not anymore

stovetopespresso · 04/09/2020 17:11

does anyone remember the reported convo between Paul and John about Ringo? "well he's not the best drummer in the world...." john: "he's not the best drummer in the Beatles" GrinGrin
