I'm just asking as DH was watching A Hard Days Night. I'll always love Johns smile Blush

I just find John's hypocrisy so hard to stomach.

Imagine.. All the off the charts rich dad's treating both sons the same?

One has to buy back his own dads guitar at an auction and was left nothing in his will? Imagine?

The tone and way he spoke was extraordinary! Patronising.

George for me.

redastherose · 05/09/2020 00:33

Paul and George for their music, never liked John (thought too much of himself as far as I am concerned) and don't really know about Ringo.

Paddingtonjuice · 05/09/2020 01:00

When I was younger, it was John. He was hugely talented and very funny. Hearing how he treated Cynthia massively put me off him. I remember reading her book years ago and she spoke about coming home to Yoko wearing her dressing gown and slippers in her own house and John talking to her her with utter contempt. He and Yoko were vile to Julian too. I love Ringo as a personality but find him a little grumpy. Loved George’s music after the Beatles but found him slightly pretentious.

I would say Paul now. He’s not as cool as John and sometimes he is a bit cringe. But I absolutely love his songs. He wrote ‘Hey Jude’ for Julian when he knew he was being done wrong. And I think he is probably the nicest Beatle.

PontiusPilates · 05/09/2020 01:02

George 😻

Being a proper fan, my favourite album by him is “The Best of George Harrison”.

occa · 05/09/2020 01:25

George, although he was also a bit of a shit to his wife, it was nothing like the scale of John and he wrote the best music.

John was an appalling wife beater who abandoned and disinherited his son, Ringo seems the next nicest after George, Paul always seemed like a bit of an ego.

Anordinarymum · 05/09/2020 01:29

When I was a child I loved Paul because he was the pretty one.

Now I would not piss on John or George because of their history of abuse and Paul because he is the meanest old skinflint who does not seem to have any kind of filter continuing to perform well after his sell by date.

Give me Ringo any day of the week and doesn't he look great !

I don’t think it’s accurate to say that John was a wife beater. He was mentally ill, and he would have rages, which seemed to be like manic episodes that he couldn’t control and would have no memory of later. He was obviously an alcoholic, and he was ruined by drugs. He was vulnerable, insecure and insanely jealous of Paul, who he loved probably more than anyone else in his life. He was wicked to Paul and to Julian, no doubt because they reminded him of everything he once had before he threw it all away.

Paul’s uncool image is just that, an image. He was and is the coolest Beatle - the best musician, the most innovative songwriter, the most hard working and the wisest of all of them. He didn’t give a shit about looking cool, he knew it was more important to live a happy life.

burblish · 05/09/2020 05:39

George, all the way!

What had George done??

MandyGalbandi · 05/09/2020 08:09

George because I love Here Comes the Sun, Something and My Sweet Lord. They are the only Beatles and post Beatles songs on my Spotify so he is definitely my winner. I dont know much of the personal.stuff. I don't think I even know what George looked like. I don't know what rIngo looks like either, though obvs o know his voice. Really interested in some of these books now

akitamiss · 05/09/2020 08:12

@Pilcrow, Patti sister was married to Mick Fleetwood. She has a book released back earlier in the year that got good reviews. Reading the blurb, she went back to college and completed a PhD

Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/09/2020 08:13

John did beat men as well. He was very angry in his youth. To be fair his mother was killed when he was a teen and I dount they had counselling back in those days so it was the only way he knew how to react.

CherryValanc · 05/09/2020 08:17

Didn't John claim to be sexually attracted to his mother and that he regretted not making a move on her (because she would have compiled)

Sure I read that, it's so twisted I hope it's not true.

Pilcrow · 05/09/2020 08:19

akitamiss yes, I know she was. That's what I said - I was replying to Mariel Smile

ImaSababa · 05/09/2020 08:22

I used to love john Lennon but I don't think he was a very pleasant person... Paul has made some criminally bad music, and George never really appealed. So I guess it's the Ring-meister for me!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/09/2020 08:25

Never read anything about John being sexually attracted to his mother.

There were questions around him being bisexual and secretly in love with Paul. He did claim that he once had sex with their manager Brian Epstein, who was gay. Who knows whether that was true or not as he tended to exaggerate.

dudsville · 05/09/2020 08:31

Sorry to rain on your parade but I don't/didn't like The Beatles and I just don't get to say it often enough in real life. Now that I've got that off my chest, one of my fondest childhood memories was of being young and dancing on my parent's bed while Mum cleaned house. I was dancing to "Here comes the sun".

MargotLovedTom1 · 05/09/2020 08:39

Always John, even though he was a massive fuck up. He's my wallpaper on my tablet, and my militant teen dd gives me grief about him being a wife beater 😬.

Have read lots of rumours that Paul was physically abusive to Linda.

Dita73 · 05/09/2020 09:00

Definitely George
John was a funny one. If he was still alive I bet he’d have been a right pain in the arse, not that I’m glad he died of course
As for Paul I think he’s a complete twat. Can’t stand the bloke. He needs to retire. Have a look at his latest tour promo poster!

'Here comes the sun' came on the radio just as I found out I was pregnant, 18 years later and my dh still can't listen to it without crying, so I'm going to say George.
Didn't he also write 'While my guitar gently weeps' which is rather amazing.
