Following on from the cordless thread.
I am looking for a new vacuum, (and washing machine, dryer, iron 😂😭) my old dyson is usless, dc40.
I really liked my dc07 upright for power, versatility and reliability. However it eas ancient, broken and too heavy.
Are there any good vacuums out there that can deal with dog hair, very long hair, muck and dirt (kids) and occasionally cleaning the decking.
I've looked at shark and dyson butvreviews seembto be either great or crap. My dc40 has all the suction of an out of breath smoker 😂

I went from a dyson to a shark and I hoover everyday now because i love it

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 02/09/2020 21:25

I have had Dysons for years and thought they were great, albeit very heavy. However I had a cordless Dyson which was rubbish and became blocked every 2 minutes.

I now have a corded Shark which is very good. It gets under very low furniture and radiators and is very powerful and glides well. Really impressed with it. Bought it in Costco.

Sausagis · 02/09/2020 21:28

Corded shark lift away. Mine sucked some of the skirting off the wall Shock

Pembsgirl · 02/09/2020 21:41

Another vote for the Shark lift away here, only bought it a couple of weeks ago, but it's absolutely brilliant! It is corded, but I'd rather that than a cordless that loses it's oomph after a relatively short life span.

RogueV · 02/09/2020 21:42

Sebo

goose1964 · 02/09/2020 21:43

We have a shark, it's far better than the Dyson we had before

AgnesNaismith · 02/09/2020 21:44

Miele, it’s the Miele you’re looking for.

sqirrelfriends · 02/09/2020 21:45

We have a Miele here too, it's amazing.

I'm a bit worried I won't be able to replace it when it bites the dust.

Bluewavescrashing · 02/09/2020 21:47

My Dyson cordless is fabulous. You just have to change the attachments for different jobs. But the suction is very powerful.

Legoandloldolls · 02/09/2020 21:50

I dont rate my new upright hair wrap shark. I prefer my old Henry 😭

My friend has a handheld corded shark and she loves her. I might buy that one myself

I have a Dyson V11 absolute or whatever it's called. Was brilliant when we first got it but now the suction is crap and it constantly gets blocked, says the filter is dirty even when it's just been washed. Piece of shit.

I'd like a cordless, though the Miele sounds tempting.

QueenPaws · 02/09/2020 21:55

I have a corded shark which I love. My cleaner uses a Henry which seems to do well, I hated mine though and kicked him when he fell over so my dad rescued him and adores him

GladAllOver · 02/09/2020 21:57

The EU regulations were designed to encourage manufacturers to make their products more efficient rather than use more and more powerful and wasteful motors. It's working too.

Tootsey11 · 02/09/2020 22:04

Henry with a turbo boost head. Fantastic.

I'm a cleaner, I get to use lots of different brands. Shark and Dyson are terrible.

Miele not bad, but if get the turbo head for a Henry it cleans even the deepest and roughest of carpet.

TheRealHousewife · 02/09/2020 22:05

Sebo ... German engineering at its best.

TheRealHousewife · 02/09/2020 22:06

This is mine ❤️

My older vacuum is a Cat & Dog Miele. That’s great too but Sebo has the edge.

altiara · 02/09/2020 22:09

My last 3 dysons were awful.
Got myself a shark duo clean (so hard floor and carpet- brilliant), Anti hair wrap (bloody brilliant) with pet tool (also brilliant) liftaway (genius). It is corded, but really long cord and I don’t have to charge it up.
I did find it heavy to start with, I think it was the way it was weighted compared to the dyson but got used to it quite quickly.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 02/09/2020 22:10

I like my new Shark.

Mandalalorianna · 02/09/2020 22:14

I'm on only my 2nd Henry in 25 years. I'm waiting for it to die sii can try something different. It's definitely cumbersome, heavy, annoying etc but it will hoover up anything!

FlowerPig · 02/09/2020 22:15

I recommend the Upright Dyson Animal Ball 2. I got it as I was sick of the cordless running out of charge before I had finished. At first it felt very heavy and hard to manoeuvre due to the super suction but I soon got used to it. Love it.
Will never buy another cordless.

MrsPworkingmummy · 02/09/2020 22:15

My 6 year old Henry died on me a fortnight ago (was never really keen on a Henry, but as I lived in a longhouse with hard floors at the time, the wire length was excellent and meant I only needed to change plugs once or twice) so I bought a Shark Lift Away. There was a special offer on the rose gold model so only £180. It is EXCELLENT. I'm pretty house proud and my house is by no means dirty, but I was absolutely horrified by how much came up out of the carpets. I'm now in a large 3 story victorian house and it's an absolute doddle hoovering the stairs. I'm a Shark convert.

susandelgado · 02/09/2020 22:20

Shark lift away, the best vacuum cleaner I've ever had Smile

Wynston · 02/09/2020 22:30

Miele c3. The only difference i believe with the cat and dog one is the charcoal filter which you can just buy separately.
This option may work out cheaper.
I looked and its currently on sale.

slightchill · 02/09/2020 22:32

@Vodkacranberryplease

Blame the EU. They kept forcing them to be made less and less powerful. I've got a Miele cat and dog that could lift carpet stashed away and even though I've got another newer Miele I'm keeping it because they don't make them like they used to!

fucking meddling beaurocrats. People as kid rate the Henry for suction power too. Dysons lose suction too

Er, you do know that the UK, as part of the EU, played a huge role in formulating, supporting and championing this legislation, designed to reduce carbon emissions across the continent? The legislation was amended and approved in our own Houses of Parliament. And as a pp said below, the legislation is about energy efficiency. Wattage does not necessarily equate to performance.
