Teenage DD is obsessed with the stuff - Impulse, So, whatever's on offer in Home Bargains.

IT STINKS.

She left for school 30 minutes ago and I can still smell the stuff and feel it in the back of my throat. Yuk. This phase will pass, right?

And I know it could be worse, it could be a DS and Lynx.

I suggest you buy them the body spray you prefer them to use

FAQs · 01/09/2020 09:12

Lynx also sell a female/teenage spray if you want me to show you a link Smile

SockYarn · 01/09/2020 09:15

Feel sorry for teachers. No wonder they're so keen to wear masks!!

MinnieJackson · 01/09/2020 09:39

Lol at the masks. My 14 year old God daughter is obsessed too! It gives me a huge coughing fit every time she sprays it. But her mum wears it aswell though. And they use jelly belly air freshener all over the house Confused everything is sweet scented now I come to think of it. Chocolate bubble bath, strawberry laces hand wash etc

LynnThese4reSEXPEOPLE · 01/09/2020 09:44

Even worse when it's worn in a swimming pool... Ew!

Gothamgirl1970 · 01/09/2020 09:46

Yes it’s rank but BO would be worse although probably unlikely in a girl

vodkaredbullgirl · 01/09/2020 09:51

You can still smell through the mask. My dd wears horrible perfume, makes me gag lol.

BarkandCheese · 01/09/2020 09:52

I remember those days, I liberally doused myself in Impulse in the morning, after PE and after being around my friends who smoked to cover the smell. I must have stunk!

Maybe for her next birthday or Christmas you could buy her some proper perfume you like the smell of and make sure she knows with real perfume you just need a little bit.

SockYarn · 01/09/2020 09:55

She has lots of nice sprays and perfumes!

But she likes the cheap awful ones. As do all her friends. Being in a confined place with them is just awful. Maybe the walk to school will dissipate it a bit.

Does she wear anti-perspirant? Body spray alone won't stop her oxters/pits smelling, it'll just add to the BO in a horrible cocktail. You can get some now that are more environmentally friendly and less harsh than the ones when I was a teen in the 80s. Stops wet patches under the arms too.

longcoffee · 01/09/2020 10:02

I'm pregnant and my dsd15's extensive range of Britney Spears perfumes were one of the main triggers that made me throw up in the first few months! She'd waft down the stairs in and I'd hit the loo!

Eventually, we agreed to confine Britters to outside wear only until the phase passed :-S

Thebreadsouth · 01/09/2020 10:04

Joop is expensive but I swear that stuff could be used in chemical warfare. I have to leave the room if someone's wearing it as my eyes start to stream, my sinuses close up and I've got about 20 seconds before the sneezing fit starts. Vile stuff.

imissthesouth · 01/09/2020 10:06

Agree the cheap ones smell AWFUL. My niece is obsessed with them so I always buy her nice smelling ones in hope she'll use those. Maybe buy her nicer ones?

SockYarn · 01/09/2020 11:07

Yes. Lots. Hmm And showers daily, and washes her hair. She's not a smelly child, apart from the sprays. I think if it was just the deodorant, or just the spray, or just the perfume, or just the hairspray - but it's all of them together.

Hopefully nobody will go near her with a match.

Agree its very unpleasant but please don't exaggerate.

The behaviour of some men towards teenage girls/young women is something that offensive is an appropriate word, for example.

LockdownLump · 01/09/2020 11:23

When I was in school, our whole female year group smelled of dewberry oil from the bodyshop 🤣🤣

Definitely just a phase. 'Offensive' is a bit Ott though.

NameChange84 · 01/09/2020 11:30

YABVVVVVVVVU to say “There is nothing more offensive than” as there is so much that is more offensive than cheap body sprays.

Trust me, if you’ve taught 36 teenagers in poorly ventilated room for 8 hours a day during a heatwave then you’d know us teachers are grateful for any personal hygiene intervention the kids might take. Home Bargains body sprays included! Teenage BO x 36 is vomit inducing. “Vanilla Kisses” or “Lynx” not so much!

Toddlerteaplease · 01/09/2020 11:58

Impulse 02 is the best body spray ever. All teenagers love it!

Toddlerteaplease · 01/09/2020 11:59

I also loved Lynx Africa

Toddlerteaplease · 01/09/2020 12:01

But didn't we all feel so grown up with our liberal applications of impulse/ Charlie red or blue.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 01/09/2020 12:03

I quite like them - takes me right back to being a kid and spending pocket money on impulse.
Also my DC have some spendy shit from Lush (before I put a stop to buying from there) which absolutely reeks. Money spent is no indication of decent smell!

Newfornow · 01/09/2020 12:31

The title is ridiculous. There are many more offensive things going on than impulse worm bu a teenager.

Belledan1 · 01/09/2020 12:35

I use to always have a spray when got off train and rushed to work. I am menopausal. Saved so much money since wfh.

DaisyDreaming · 01/09/2020 12:36

Nothing is as bad as when people think spray or perfume covers up their smoking!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 01/09/2020 12:40

Yes it’s rank but BO would be worse although probably unlikely in a girl

BO is just as likely in both sexes.

A decent antiperspirant is far better than body spray. It's definitely the mix of everything that makes it worse though.
