well, am I?

OP posts:
TinyGang · 05/10/2007 23:18

Well yes, I think I might give one a go. I can't help thinking of sink plungers but hey, I lost all my modesty and embarrasment years ago

Mine are heavy and I use pads but I get v sore - maybe this'll eliminate that little delight.

SpookyBearistheSpookyBear · 05/10/2007 23:18

Well, my dh would think it was a bit of a turn off. I suspect .

Or he'd say what's cooking?

And I'd say er, my er, mooncup.

And he'd say ?? !!!! §§§§§

Or what's this in the dishwasher?

Ditto

Spiderhammer · 05/10/2007 23:19

As I've said before one of the many advantages of the mooncup for me is that I can enjoy MIL's reaction when she empties the dishwasher with it in.

gibberish · 05/10/2007 23:20

lol Franny

I am VERY ashamed to admit I haven't got one yet

I am fully in favour of them and think they are wonderful. Tell EVERYONE about them...

but haven't actually used one. I am going to Boots tomorrow. Honest.

Spiderhammer · 05/10/2007 23:20

Spooky does he find tampons sexy then?

TinyGang · 05/10/2007 23:20

Rofl at MIL. Does she think it's a funny eggcup?

SpookyBearistheSpookyBear · 05/10/2007 23:22

Spiderhammer, No! But I don't use them then cook them or wash them in the dishwasher .

Anyway, he's just TEXTED me from upstairs to tell me I should be in bed!!!!

"my dh would think it was a bit of a turn off. I suspect "

well as it wasn't actually designed to be sexually provocative, but more to catch your menstrual blood, you would probably get over that drawback quite quickly

oh come on SpookyBear, is he a man or a mouse. Scared of a bit of latex is he?

lilolilmanchester · 05/10/2007 23:22

Hi Gibberish, another mooncup virgin. Can see a new thread coming up...

AitchTwoOh · 05/10/2007 23:22

you two sound like you are young...

Spiderhammer · 05/10/2007 23:24

I can just see it now. Soon there'll be a Mooncup support agency and we'll all be accused of being the Mooncup Militia, badgering women into using the things.

lilolilmanchester · 05/10/2007 23:25

which two??? Posts coming thick and fast on this thread so not sure which 2 you are referring to Aitch

gibberish · 05/10/2007 23:25

Ok lilolil - off to Boots with you tomorrow then. We can swap first experience stories

AitchTwoOh · 05/10/2007 23:25

i don't get period pain any more, tra la la!
actually a better example is a friend who was unable to move every month as she has had many abdo ops etc etc and she started using one and her pain decreased to nil, pretty much.
and ask hunker as well, she's another good example.

lilolilmanchester · 05/10/2007 23:26

Ok Gibberish. Am going to be SO disappointed if I can't find one!

TinyGang · 05/10/2007 23:26

How does it stop pain?

Spiderhammer · 05/10/2007 23:28

I don't get period pain either. Isn't it strange? Could it really be down to the mooncup and if so why?

gibberish · 05/10/2007 23:28

I'll be so disappointed if they are no longer 50p

SpookyBearistheSpookyBear · 05/10/2007 23:28

Aitch, do you mean me and DH?

We are not young (30s) just v tired and possibly spectacularly immature!

OP posts:
FrannyandZombie · 05/10/2007 23:30

People have posited that because it doesn't draw blood out as an absorbent tampon does, there is less blood, less cramping and less pain. I haven't really noticed a difference in pain myself but for some people the improvement is quite dramatic.

AitchTwoOh · 05/10/2007 23:30

this is just my intuitive opinion but i now wonder if tampons suck out more moisture than just blood, and that's what causes the cramps? i dunno if that's true, but that's what is feels like, iykwim?

lilolilmanchester · 05/10/2007 23:30

OK, off to bed to dream of finding mooncups at 50p. If I go very quiet, means I'm too embarrassed to admit I can't get it in properly!!!

susiecutie · 05/10/2007 23:31

i am definitely coming round to the idea myself now. I have always thought ewww, god knows why, i have no probs with blood or any othe bodily fluid. I'm a nurse for gods sake.. whats been wrong with me!!! I'm usually so open minded!

so will read more on it.. but oyu guys seem the best source of info... i'll take a look on flames site to

I take it you cannot 'lose' your mooncup in the way some women 'lose' or forget about a tampon at hte end of their period.. something i've never ever understood how it is possible, but is strangely quite common... seen it in A&E.. along with all manner of other things up peoples flanges.

BabiesEverywhere · 05/10/2007 23:31

I love my mooncup

I can stuff it up when I'm due on, keep it in when I'm on the light end of the period...which used to be so teeth clenching removal of half used tampon...yuck yuck.

Easier all around midcycle when I am at the heaviest flow.

I have the one in use and a spare just in case I lose the first one.

BTW how long can you use mooncups, when are they too old ?

AitchTwoOh · 05/10/2007 23:32

spookie, you text each other in your home, he demands you come to bed and you are concerned about a bit of silicon in a pan being unsexy... you can't be a day over 23.
