fangsandflash · 06/10/2007 21:37

I have a merina in and my mooncup is currently in my pocket!!

fangsandflash · 06/10/2007 21:38

I love my mooncup -it loves me - we go everythwere together

ScaryScaryNight · 06/10/2007 21:38

Soz, its in me name, innit?

ibroughtcake · 06/10/2007 21:38

yes, no hormones just a bit of copper

Not enough to be worth anything though, so don't bother with trying to flog it

FrannytheDruid · 06/10/2007 21:39

Amy it is not big, and it doesn't slip or move, it fits into your vagina with a kind of vacuum seal effect so it is quite secure

ScaryScaryNight · 06/10/2007 21:39

"FOR sale little used copper coil, can easily insert and pull out if used in conjuction with mooncup"

now that is just bad taste

xxawwhugsHUNniKERMUNKERxx · 06/10/2007 21:39

I have mine in atm.

I could post photos of it next time I take it out, I guess.

But that would be waaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy tmi

AitchyBabesHugz2AllUHunnis · 06/10/2007 21:40

from the mirena info you got when you agreed to have it inserted. rather disingenuous as the risk of getting pregnant is higher in women who don't use fucking contraception. i know of women who have tortured themselves over this. thing is, if you use any contraception there is always a chance it will fail and you will get pg, right? but what you don't want is to threaten your life and future fertility in the process...

"What about side effects?
Taking any medicine carries some risk of side effects. With Mirena these are most common during the first months after the
system is fitted and decrease as time goes on. Apart from menstrual changes, possible side effects might include headache (also
rarely migraine), lower abdominal or back pain, acne, rashes, itching or skin problems, tender, lumpy breasts, increased discharge
from the vagina, vagina itching or pain on passing urine, depression or other mood changes, a feeling of sickness, bloating, or
swelling of your legs and ankles. Ovarian cysts and pelvic inflammatory disease have been reported so tell your doctor if you
have lower abdominal pain or if you experience painful or difficult sex. Other side effects such as weight gain, hair loss, or
greasy hair have rarely been reported.
Ectopic pregnancy (development of fertilised egg outside the uterus) is possible with Mirena but highly unlikely. The risk of this
happening is lower than for women using no contraception.
You should tell your doctor if you have lower abdominal (tummy) pain especially if you also have a fever or have missed a period
or have unexpected bleeding. This might be a sign of ectopic pregnancy. If you think you are reacting badly to Mirena or are
having any other problems, please tell your doctor or clinic."

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/10/2007 21:42

I DID IT......I bought one

With my new love of re-useable nappies, I am fast on my way to being a fully fledged lentil weaver

Sorry Klaw, didn't realise I was denying you some commision

fangsandflash · 06/10/2007 21:43

I had mine put in two weeks ago and didn't even feel it

Are you saying (haven't read whole thread) that am more likely to get pg for having a mirena or a mooncup?

chalat · 06/10/2007 21:43

Would be interested if you could find that info, Aitch, tia. Have to leave the pc tonight now as early start but am riveted by this thread. For the record I have had the mirena for 10 months and been using my mooncup for a lot longer (have lost track of time) - but it has saved me an absolute fortune! To those that wonder about swimming, it is no problem with the mooncup, it makes things so much easier in many ways. For those who are squeamish, you can soon get over that as there are so many benefits!

Don't recall any warnings with using internal sanitary protection in relation to the mirena and would have thought it more likely to get tangled up in a tampon than sucked out with a mooncup

fangsandflash · 06/10/2007 21:44

er that was the mirena - not the moocup btw

Mooncups are soooo easy but you will have odd disasters which will be etched on your brain forever

xXxamyxXx · 06/10/2007 21:46

my worry would be and i know this is tmi but if scary can so can ii dont know i have it untill i have it so is it not a wee bit nasty/unhygenic to put my hand up there if ive already started thank fran

Habbibu · 06/10/2007 21:47

Hmm - I am VERY clumsy, fangs, and I worry that the disasters will not only be etched on myu brain, but will be permanently stained on my clothes.

fangsandflash · 06/10/2007 21:50

It only happened once - camping ... think rain, period, 2 kids, nothing to do ... plus mooncup leaking and no shop....

fangsandflash · 06/10/2007 21:51

But when I realised what was wrong - i.e. had been putting up too high into the cavernous thing my fj is - and that it needed to sit lower in my fj - all was fine. I also have some washable sanpro.... and not fleece that hides the (((whispers))) blood!

FrannytheDruid · 06/10/2007 21:54

Amy you don't have to put your hand right inside - you just slip it in quite near to the entrance of your vagina. There's nothing dirty or unhygienic about your menstrual blood anyway, but you don't tend to get messy or whatever while you're using it.

Habbibu · 06/10/2007 21:55

Now a little confused, fangs - did having nothing to do lead to some unwise experimentation?

AitchyBabesHugz2AllUHunnis · 06/10/2007 21:56

do you know what i also love about it? in the mornings i put it in while i'm in the shower... oh so clean. much nicer than some bogging chemical-saturated tampon.

expatinscotland · 06/10/2007 21:58

Here, here, aitch!

It took me a few cycles to get the hang of it, but I'm glad I stuck it out - wasn't about to let 20 quid go to waste .

FrannytheDruid · 06/10/2007 21:58

Yes, emptying it in the shower is fab

god I love it. Do you love yours Aitch? they are so marvellous aren't they?

expatinscotland · 06/10/2007 21:58

Cut the stem off, carefully.

Went off to buy my first Mooncup today, all fired up by last night's discussions. They are £19.99 in Boots. Which I know isn't many months sanitary supplies. But need to know how long a £19.99 mooncup will last?
