So Next have always been pretty good for service and logistics but lately the things I've ordered online never turn up, obviously they take the money and I've opted to click and collect next day and then nothing happens, it doesn't even leave the warehouse on their tracker. Customer services don't respond either.
Has anyone else had an issue with this? I wonder if they're struggling. I would say it may be COVID related but I haven't had an issue with any other retailer.
This has happened twice now, I'm not sure I'll bother again.

I've had this recently with M&S ordered DS some basics, for loads of random remarks telling me bits were dispatched, then delayed, then in store. I eventually went to connect and they had half the order and said the rest was she but delayed and I'd get an email, next thing I got a refund for the items I hadn't collected because 'i left the items in store past the collection date' (they weren't there!) . Contested them they apologised, couldn't understand what happened as they were still in stock. I just placed a new order for the missing items (with the discount code I had on my sparks card by then, so want too fussed). Collected order two, no issues. A month later got an email to say the rest of order one was in store for me to collect! Ignored it, kept getting emails, then a phone call from the store. Went in explained all of the above and that I'd been refunded for those items, store manager just said take them for all your inconvenience...

*got loads of random emails

Freddiefox · 30/08/2020 19:16

Next is one of those companies that try to do too much and have a leave target audience, when really they just need to do a few good things well.

I’ve ordered some items and it’s no been dispatched I did wonder what the hold up is.

Our local one is massive, but there is never anyone on the tills and you end up queuing. The children’s clothes are too expensive for the design and quality and the women’s clothes done seem to work for anyone really.

isabellerossignol · 30/08/2020 19:16

I haven't used Next for delivery for years. Fortunately I don't like their clothes very much so it's no loss. But their click and collect service was one of the worst I've ever used. I used to get the email or text telling me that my parcel was ready and would drive to my nearest shop (which wasn't all that near really) only to be told that there was no parcel. My nearest shop said that it happened every single time someone placed a click and collect order - the 'your parcel is ready to collect' email was issued before the parcel was dispatched, not after. They had apparently been complaining to management about it for months but to no avail.

SmartyPants0 · 30/08/2020 19:17

I find next delivery as good as it's always been... I do now find their sizing questionable though.

PinkSparkleUnicorns · 30/08/2020 19:17

I've sorted returns that were never collected. Puts me off next, a shame because I love their stuff

Muser314 · 30/08/2020 19:20

I am a single parent without a car and for years they have been a godsend to me. My son would say to me at 2000 "'I need swimming togs for tomorrow'' and Next would have them there the next morning before school. So although their clothes wouldn't be my first choice, I was a big fan and I usually bought something from Next for myself every season. I suppose they have fewer packers in the warehouse now?

BikeTyson · 30/08/2020 19:30

It’s been ok for me, I use them a bit for kids clothes. I don’t know why they promise next day delivery if you order by midnight as they’ve never been able to deliver on that, but things do usually turn up on the day they say.

roziro · 30/08/2020 19:36

Yep, I've been wondering the same OP.
Boys trousers- ordered two weeks ago for home delivery. Kept receiving emails- after the next day delivery didn't show up- to say it was delayed and would be here on Wed, then fri, then mon- eventually I just cancelled!

nosswith · 30/08/2020 19:40

In terms of their in-store offering they have been on the slide for years, such that I gave up with them about five years ago.

Starburst8 · 30/08/2020 19:43

I've found that they've become very lacking during Covid-19 pandemic. I ordered items, paid for delivery and they took awhile to turn up. No email or anything, the order didn't even show on my history. Anyways you'd think that I'd be thankful they actually got delivered... But no as I found that they had put the wrong size in the wrong bags. So I had to faff with sending them back. Took awhile to get my refund too. Funnily enough I've not ordered from them since.

I've found that a lot of customer service is crap these days and they're all blaming Covid-19 for it.

MellySandra · 30/08/2020 19:44

I ordered a lot from next recently due to expecting a baby that I still needed supplies for and they’ve been great. Maybe it’s a regional thing.

CheshireChat · 30/08/2020 19:46

The stores near me look really dreary and I really don't like anything from their latest collection.

Did get some nice trousers that were heavily reduced which are decent quality

Finefinedandy · 30/08/2020 19:46

Yes they sent a parcel to the wrong address, didn’t follow it up and haven’t responded to me. I won’t shop with them again.

CupoTeap · 30/08/2020 19:47

Aren't they based in Leicester? Maybe they are trying to carry on. It have built a backlog?

Itisasecret · 30/08/2020 19:47

Yes. I ordered some T.M silk ties the other day. Hardly expecting a huge parcel. It is still not here, nearly a week later. It even says there is a delay if I log in, but they haven’t contacted me. I pay yearly for ‘free’ next day delivery. I’m not impressed.

CrocusPocus · 30/08/2020 19:47

Yes - this has been my experience with Next recently. Ordering from.their clearance section is dreadful - I'm waiting for things I ordered well over a month ago (some were for my summer holiday overseas which didn't happen - I'll probably get a whole load of bikinis delivered in October!) I was always really impressed with their delivery service before. It seems to have gone very wrong somewhere.

Standrewsschool · 30/08/2020 19:48

I’ve still have an order outstanding from July. However, more recent orders Seem to be arriving quicker.

FionaCorkesWardrobebyKamizole · 30/08/2020 19:52

@SmartyPants0

I find next delivery as good as it's always been... I do now find their sizing questionable though.
Totally agree with this. I have just bought two pairs of jeans in my usual size, but different colours. Same make of jeans as I bought last year which fit me perfectly, yet one pair is flapping above my ankles but is OK in the waist, the other is OK for length but at least 2 inches too small in the waist. I also bought a pair of shorts last month in usual size and they are huge around the waist. There really is no consistency with their sizing these days.
FionaCorkesWardrobebyKamizole · 30/08/2020 19:52

Delivery was fine though, we must have a good local courier.

BlueJava · 30/08/2020 19:55

Currently waiting on Next towels that were due last Monday, then would be arriving Tuesday, then Thursday, now due tomorrow.... they were in stock when I ordered them. Spent 2 hours 10 mins waiting on the phone to them earlier this week too. I am also owed £20 for a top I returned in June, I don't think I'll see it but just go round and round in customer services.

SarahBellam · 30/08/2020 20:01

Next lost their way in the mid-90s. It was originally designed to appeal to the gap between M&S and Jaeger, but more modern, and the clothes were beautiful, with great quality fabrics and lovely little details like pretty buttons, and lovely leather and suede shoes and boots . It was a trendier Laura Ashley and had really great sales (it used to be worth queuing at 5am for beginning of the January sales). Now it’s not much more than a New Look with delusions of grandeur. It became a bit of a jack of all trades and lost its core market and has being trying to be too many things to too many people. I used to work in one when I was a student and absolutely loved it.

Habbyhadno · 30/08/2020 20:07

I really like their kids clothes and their jumpers, that's about it. I can't abide poor communication though, especially when someone has taken my money. Don't promise next day delivery if you can't even get the stock out of the warehouse. Such bad service.

OP posts:
doingmeheadin · 30/08/2020 20:09

Next clothing is awful. Cheap polyester, awful dated designs for slightly too much money. Only vaguely decent things are the 360 jeans but they don't last. I don't like their delivery option as even if you spend £££ (on the brands on the website, not on their own tat) you still have to pay. That really annoys me so I avoid it.

gingganggooleywotsit · 30/08/2020 20:10

yes I have had two parcels delivered to me by next that weren't for me and were for a different address!
