I didn’t used to like gin and then a friend pointed out it was probably the tonic I didn’t like (she was right!)

I recommend fever tree’s mixers, they are lovely.

As for the gin, it's a spiced gin. It's like paint stripper with all the smart of whiskey but with none of the advantages!

@peppermintpigs I don't like much alcohol that doesn't taste like a Ribena to be honest, but I do like pink gin! Maybe give that a shot instead?

Get a good quality London dry and use a good quality tonic. And definitely do not put lemonade in it. Sacrilege!

Spiced gin really isn’t real gin, tried it once and it gave me the worst heartburn!

I’d say start on a fruity gin and pair it with lemonade, then gradually try others and other mixes. I hated gin about two years ago. I still can’t drink a plain gin and tonic. I started with orange or raspberry gins and have moved on from there. My favourite now is actually the Edinburgh Gin rhubarb and ginger gin liqueur with a ginger beer. Very sweet, especially with it being a liqueur. Rhubarb gin works well with ginger beer though if you want something less sweet and definitely gin. Sloe gin is another one, try it with lemonade or soda water. The local gin company does a range of fruity gins and recommend having them with Prosecco.

Rather accidentally last year I discovered that Wetherspoons has a great selection of guns (and they’re cheap). You can go in and try some different flavours and see if you like any of them.

Controversial but...
Gin and cranberry juice with lots of ice is a complete revelation, completely delicious. Chuck in a slice of orange and you’ll never look back.

Don't dismiss it before you have normal gin with tonic.Make sure you put a shit ton of ice in too.
