To stay on MN even though I hate gin

I just tried it for the first time, Jesus it's disgusting.

Redcrayons · 27/08/2020 22:53

Me neither, though I think it’s more the tonic than the gin. Mind you I had a delicious gin fizz with Prosecco in a swanky hotel In London. Unfortunately it was £££ so I only had one.

I’m waiting for gin to be over and we can all get on board with vodka, because I bloody love that.

DragonPie · 27/08/2020 22:54

I can’t stand gin. Or tonic.

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 27/08/2020 22:57

I hate gin. Tastes like a week old orange covered in black pepper and now it's trendy I hate it even more. The people who've always drunk Gin must be raging at all these Gin hipsters with their bastardised versions. I hope they don't start that site with my precious vodka.

Slimmer2018 · 27/08/2020 22:58

The only thing I like about gin is the smell, it reminds me of my nanna (fondly) to drink though - not for me in any flavour combo..

PeacefulPlease · 27/08/2020 22:59

I had no idea that gin is a MN thang 🤷🏻‍♀️

DragonPie · 27/08/2020 22:59

Actually I like the rhubarb and ginger gin liqueur from Lidl, because it doesn’t taste of gin.

PeacefulPlease · 27/08/2020 23:00

I do love the odd G&T though but only in the summer

WouldBeGood · 27/08/2020 23:01

I wonder this just about being a middle aged mother: I feel so out of step with my peers!

formerbabe · 27/08/2020 23:02

I hate gin...absolutely vile stuff. I barely drink but if I must, I'll have a vodka

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/08/2020 23:02

@RaspberryToupee

🤦‍♀️ Fuck you autocorrect!

Although, it was a rough spoons I went into. So maybe 🤷‍♀️

Doesn't narrow it down much.
Voice0fReason · 27/08/2020 23:02

I don't like gin and I detest tonic.
I'll stick with the vodka.

Slimmer2018 · 27/08/2020 23:03

I remember a vodka bar in Cheshire back in 1996, they had every flavour you could ask for. I’ve moved since and don’t know if it still exists ...

gurglebelly · 27/08/2020 23:35

@Regularname

It’s ok I don’t like gin and I’ve never bought zoflora. Just keep ne changing and they’ll never know Smile Brew
Me too....and have been here for years 😉
Deadringer · 27/08/2020 23:50

I hate gin too, i have tried different types and different mixers and i just can't take to it. I am currently sipping a lovely Barcardi and coke, now that's a drink!

AlwaysLatte · 27/08/2020 23:52

Ditto Fever Tree tonic. And not one of those sickly fruity gins. Lots of ice and lime, bit of rosemary, and keep the gin in the freezer 😀

IHaveBrilloHair · 27/08/2020 23:52

I hate it too, it tastes like celery, revolting stuff.

AlwaysLatte · 27/08/2020 23:52

Fruity gin and lemonade 🤢

custardbear · 27/08/2020 23:56

Zoflora is fab ... just don't drink it, not even with gin to make it more drinkable 😳

longtompot · 27/08/2020 23:59

My friends hated gin, then they discovered these flavoured ones and now love it! I think they still actually hate gin, they just like it if the gin flavour is covered up Wink

I love gin! I have finally bought some Tanquerry as it was on offer, and oh my word! Really strong juniper flavour. My new go to.

SunshineOutdoors · 28/08/2020 00:05

Gin and grapefruit juice is lovely

ChavvySexPond · 28/08/2020 00:06

Isn't gin made from vodka?

Try anything but tonic with it - Bitter lemon or fruit juice, even lemonade. It's often the tonic people don't like, rather than the gin.

*have also never bought Zoflora.

DeeTractor · 28/08/2020 00:07

Gin is fucking rotten. It's like drinking a bottle of Vanderbilt.

And no, I don't need to try it with some poncey mixer either; it's just shit.

Boireannachlaidir · 28/08/2020 00:07

I like fever tree tonic water but I've gone retro where gin & tonic is concerned and I prefer Schweppes, esp their 1783 range.

I find that fever tree doesn't enhance the clean tasting gins i like as it overpowers them. It's lovely on its own though!

Just because there's been a gin craze you don't need to follow it! Stick to what you like SmileGin

seayork2020 · 28/08/2020 00:11

Years ago at a uni study group I tried a gin and tonic, I did not hate it but did not love it so never had another again

Prosecco however I am partial too - well some

Mellonsprite · 28/08/2020 00:19

That’s ok don’t be a bandwagon gin drinker, all the more for me Grin.
I liked it when it was an untrendy old lady drink, and I’m annoyed it’s gone up 2 quid a bottle. GinGinGinGin
