Seriously stuck in a food rut at the moment and I’m so uninspired I’m rarely cooking a proper meal.

What’s on the menu in your home tonight?

Ribs, fries, coleslaw and apple pie

harper30 · 27/08/2020 16:28

Got a Gousto meal, Italian sausage salad Smile

HeyMicky · 27/08/2020 16:28

Omelettes.

But this week we have also had: chicken and sweet corn soup, with pork buns on the side; grilled lamb pita and salad; peppers stuffed with corn and polenta; pasta with pesto made with various green things from the garden

Yellowcar2 · 27/08/2020 16:28

We're also having spaghetti sort of carbonara, but the sauce is made from cream cheese and I always add mushrooms and peas

Esspee · 27/08/2020 16:30

Chilli con carne, rice and salad.

Thegirlhasnoname · 27/08/2020 16:32

Very quick pork medallions, mash and veg (broccoli, peas and carrots) with tons of gravy. Comfort food and it isn’t my night to cook so works for me.

Kind of want Apple crumble and custard though. Blaming pregnancy!

JudgeRindersMinder · 27/08/2020 16:33

This... it’s ready to go in the oven and looks and smells good. I’ve used arrabiatta sauce as I can’t stand mushrooms

Quick meal for us - stir fry veg and noodles (from shop chiller cabinet) and either pan fried salmon or pork I bought both, other for tomorrow with fried potatoes and veg.

I'm keen on meals that take under 10 mins, hence fish often on the menu. If you are stuck for ideas, try Simply Cook. Pm me if you want a free trial box, have a code.

I'm doing a Sunday roast on a Thursday! Roast pork with crackling, roast potatoes, veg and gravy.
I'm only cooking a roast because I've got the day off work.

Pelleas · 27/08/2020 16:34

Soundbyte · 27/08/2020 16:37

Chicken & chorizo Jambalaya, good hearty comfort food for a crappy day.

AriettyHomily · 27/08/2020 16:38

Spaghetti with chicken and chorizo in a creme fraiche sauce

MummyInTheNecropolis · 27/08/2020 16:38

Spaghetti bolognese here - not very exciting but nice and comforting on a rainy day.

Westfacing · 27/08/2020 16:38

No inspiration from me I'm afraid!

I'm using up odds & sods from the fridge - about to roast baby aubergines, red peppers, red onions, garlic & olive oil, some of which I'll have later with the one solitary chicken thigh.

I've also got some lurking lardons but they'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Julmust · 27/08/2020 16:39

Bacon and eggs

Goneback2school · 27/08/2020 16:42

I've opened two tubs from the freezer and dropped them in a saucepan on the hob to defrost. I hope they are both bolognese or dinner will be interesting!

MrsJackRackham · 27/08/2020 16:42

My friend gave me a homemade steak pie at the weekend, it's been in the freezer so that'll be used tonight since it's never stopped raining all day. It looks fab, proper pie paste and everything 🤤

LBee2020 · 27/08/2020 16:43

Falafel and halloumi pittas with peri dressing, salad and corn on the cob

quirkychick · 27/08/2020 16:43

Some waitrose chicken goujons that were on offer that I have defrosted, pitta breads, chicken Tandoori kebabs also from waitrose for me as I low carb, with veg/salad of some sort. Easy meal, as we're short on sleep.

I used to proper meal plan, but now do a sort of rough Mon: chicken, Tues: taco/Mexican ish, Weds: fish etc. Much easier and it's reasonably flexible.

Soundbyte · 27/08/2020 16:44

This week we’ve also had Moroccan steak salad, Homemade tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches and a basic Carbonara. Tomorrow is frozen pizza night = my night off from cooking!

TheoriginalLEM · 27/08/2020 16:44

We didn't do a proper food shop last weekend so have been eking out the freezer/cupboard.

Monday we did our bit for the nation as it was my birthday. I jad sea bream with skin on roast potatoes.

Tuesday we had fish pie using up the fish pie mix in the freezer.

Last night we had stir fry with udon noodles- chop any old veg fry, add sauce, et voila.

Opened this thread for inspiration tonight having had a film afternoon fallen asleep with dd so don't really have anything in. All the meals require ingredients though Hmm

I have three large marrows, some spring onions and pak choi - seriously, what do i do with the marrows?

FastnetLundyRockall · 27/08/2020 16:45

Veg stir fry. But I'll also be trying out Calic0's risotto soon

Londonmummy66 · 27/08/2020 16:49

I am going to try the cauliflower cheese pasta recipe from Jamie Oliver's new series but using broccoli instead of cauliflower - wish me luck as I hope I remembered it correctly from watching the programme on Monday.
