Seriously stuck in a food rut at the moment and I’m so uninspired I’m rarely cooking a proper meal.

What’s on the menu in your home tonight?

Rice, steamed green veggies and coconut caramel pork (because DH is a non chicken eating weirdo)

Mypathtriedtokillme · 29/08/2020 05:16

Last night we had leftover lamb roast made into homemade Gyros.

TheoriginalLEM · 29/08/2020 06:34

That coconut chicken looks amazing!

Is there a recipe for the roasted cauli curry? Cauli is so lovely fried or roasted

NameChangedForDinner · 29/08/2020 06:39

Have NC as this could be identifying.

Some form of meat, some vegetables, some starchy tubers and some mushrooms. Cream may be involved and some herbs and seasoning. I cannot say exactly what it is or how I am going to combine the ingredients in case I am outed. I am well known for doing this popular dish.

TheoriginalLEM · 29/08/2020 06:49

Definitely identifying information there Grin

tempnamechange98765 · 29/08/2020 06:53

I had jambalaya last night, with chicken breast and chorizo. Glorious! DH and I don't eat meat during the week, nor every weekend, so it feels like a treat.

echt · 29/08/2020 07:13

Steamed cod with garlic and lime juice and bashed cucumber salad with black vinegar.

Manolin · 29/08/2020 07:17

Langoustines, brown shrimp, with rustic home made bread, a medley of home grown vegetables and salads. Summer pudding. Bottle of Sancerre. Cheese after. It is a special night tonight.

FallingOffTheBed · 29/08/2020 10:22

Chicken piri piri and salad

FallingOffTheBed · 29/08/2020 10:23

Thanks for the pie idea 00100001

@TheoriginalLEM
Nothing to exciting but always tasty
I roast the cauliflower with just a drizzle of oil and a small sprinkle of salt and tonight I am using the hairy bikers korma recipe as it’s my favorite but I have also had it with tikka, I don’t do spice to well so i only make mild curry’s

mbosnz · 29/08/2020 12:27

Home made gluten free beer battered fish, chips, peas and coleslaw.

I used regular potatoes, parboiled first. Was delicious!

scatterbrainedlass · 29/08/2020 16:38

Tonight it's carbonara with a left over roast chicken, if I can stretch the chicken and sauce far enough I may tweak it and use it for savoury pancakes tomorrow too.

AdoraBell · 29/08/2020 23:03

Pasta, broccoli and smoked salmon tonight.

Ate out yesterday for DD’s birthday.

No idea yet what I want for dinner tomorrow.

savetti · 29/08/2020 23:16

A curlywurly

ohcarolina2001 · 29/08/2020 23:41

Sweetcorn fritters with hot smoked salmon, tomato, avocado, chilli jam and creme fraiche, followed by apple and almond pudding

Manolin · 30/08/2020 11:27

Salmon and shrimp starter, Bouef and all the trimmings, seasonal fruit, a variety of cheeses. It's a special day today.

MotherofPearl · 30/08/2020 12:01

Manolin, the menus at your house sound amazing. Wish I was coming to lunch! I'm making a very boring chicken, leek, white wine and tarragon casserole.

MotherofPearl · 30/08/2020 12:02

Cartmel sticky toffee pudding afterwards.

PablosHoney · 30/08/2020 12:31

Are you French @Manolin?

Manolin · 30/08/2020 12:48

A fusion of English, French and Irish, with something else from the distant past. Like all of us probably.

Once I walked along a track and through the kitchen window of a rented bungalow (adjacent to the main house and restaurant) I saw one of our top chefs (we all know him). On the side by some eggs was a very unmistakable tin of Heinz beans. Sometimes I have beans too - and they are delicious.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 30/08/2020 12:54

I should probably eat the mushroom pizza first. but there is a box of filled pasta shouting at me from the fridge. I don't often eat pasta at home. but had some the other day & it's delicious. Its from lidl and is stuffed with mozzarella, olives and tomato.
Has a much longer longer shelf life than the pizza. chicken and fish though Sad I WANT IT NOW.

sycamorecottage · 30/08/2020 13:01

Steak and ale casserole.
Stewing steak, half a can of Old Speckled Hen, onions, button mushrooms, celery, garlic powder, parsley and an oxo cube. Made it yesterday to have this evening, so it is currently 'resting' in the fridge.
We'll be having it with mustard mash, runner beans, carrots and some peas if there are still any in the freezer.

Followed by plum and blackberry crumble and custard. Blackberries from the local hedgerow, plums from local supermarked reduced section.
