Mine know I like my fitness/gym time but don't know just how much of a huge part of my life it is.

They don't know I was bullied out of my previous position.

They don't know that I have been home studying to further my career.

OP posts:
Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 26/08/2020 13:02

Not much, we're all friends out of work and I'm pretty boring and an open book, there's not much they don't know.

candycane2019 · 26/08/2020 13:02

But I am doing everything I can to hide this and keep going with a stupid fake smile plastered on my face. Counselling is booked x

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 26/08/2020 13:03

That I have Asperger's.

BlueSlice · 26/08/2020 13:09

A health condition that would lead to you being ostracised @OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow ?

I thought something similar once (about mental health) but actually talking about it at work led to my colleagues also revealing their mental health issues and it was really helpful all round for everyone to be more open.

Totally understand that not all work environments are like that though.

Sorryusernamealreadyexists · 26/08/2020 13:09

That I don’t speak to most of my family. That I have my nipples and clit pierced. That I have crippling imposter syndrome.

MiriamShepherd · 26/08/2020 13:11

I work so quickly and to a high standard when I’m working on a project that I am considered one of the best employees in my organisation.

Truth is I am bored witless and am looking at a career change, they have no idea I spend most days WFH reading because I’m so good at my job it doesn’t take much brain work or time to do what’s needed.

madcatladyforever · 26/08/2020 13:15

They don't know anything about me, I am a closed book. If they did they would be shocked to the core Grin
I deflect all questions by showing an interest in their lives. People love to talk about themselves.

Pizzaalover · 26/08/2020 13:28

That I’m studying from home to enter their profession (currently low paid) and they underestimate how clever I am as they don’t know me well enough.

That my dad has been in prison for 10 years.

That I was told to leave my parents house when I was 16 and have not got any relationship with my family.Being homeless at 16 ruined my education and put me in some awful and dangerous situations which in fact, I’ve never disclosed the details to anyone before writing this today.

That I had two step children for 7 years.

I have mental health issues, am on medication and therapy.

That I’ve been strangled by a man I was dating.

They just think I'm a normal quiet girl. 😂 I’m so glad they don’t know me. I fear that they would judge me, I live in a totally different area to where I grew up thank god.

Shefliesonherownwings · 26/08/2020 13:30

That I am pregnant and planning to go on mat leave at the beginning of October. Well my manager and her seniors know but not my full team.

This is a high risk pregnancy due to a stillbirth last year and I feel too nervous to tell many people for fear of tempting fate. I also don't want any congratulations or well wishes as it's such a nervous time for me. I will tell them next month probably but i'm going to try to leave it as late as possible.

It’s not mh. I’m hiv+ and live in a small town, work in a school. My head knows because I had to shield early, that’s it.
WaitingforToto · 26/08/2020 13:44

That I’m a lottery winner...

Thighdentitycrisis · 26/08/2020 13:45

The high level of my anxiety and depression and that I take medication for that.

Anything about my family apart from the fact I have a son and a partner.

I have recently left a team I was with for a couple of years and we socialise but discuss work a lot

BlingLoving · 26/08/2020 13:50

That I read an astonishing amount of shitty self published fiction! Grin. They all know I read a lot but because I read anything and everything, I can talk about whatever the latest hot book is, discuss lots of current events as I read a lot of news, current affairs and thought stuff without giving away that it's only a small portion of my reading.

My reputation is as someone cheerful and accommodating but also very intelligent and thoughtful - they'd be shocked at the sheer volume of werewolf fiction and space opera on my Kindle!

SantaClaritaDiet · 26/08/2020 13:54

@WaitingforToto

That I’m a lottery winner...
We all are.... but how much did YOU win? Grin

my own win was £26

wheresmolly · 26/08/2020 13:55

That my partner died two years ago and I still struggle with this.

CaptainCorellisPangolin · 26/08/2020 13:56

That I'm a lesbian and have been living with a woman for years now.
I have a young daughter and stepdaughter.

My colleagues are predominantly male and mostly quite well off (wealthy families, lots of 6 or 7 figure inheritances) and, if they have children, leave them entirely for their wives and/or nannies to look after. It is inconceivable to lots of them that I could possibly have responsibilities at home.

79andnotout · 26/08/2020 14:05

That I'm in the middle of my first (hopefully only) round of IVF. I'm just about getting away with juggling all the meetings without raising suspicion. Definitely a perk of coronavirus and working from home.

Grumpbum123 · 26/08/2020 14:13

That I have very high functioning depression and I’ve tried to take my life about 22 times in the last two years

MaMisled · 26/08/2020 14:15

That my house is a shithole. I'm in a senior position, smart, clean, fairly well groomed and professional.

FrippEnos · 26/08/2020 14:17

.

What do your work colleagues not know about your life?
starfishmummy · 26/08/2020 14:24

@Venicelover

That I am about to resign due to poor line management, which, despite it being flagged up and known about by almost everyone (for years) has not been addressed, because said LM is very useful to her LM as she volunteers for everything going. It is then delegated to me with unreasonable time constraints attached to make her look good.

I have reached my limit, but resigning at the time I have chosen will leave them in a right mess!

I could have written this exact post. I had it all planned, my resignation was drafted and I was waiting for the right moment. Then a voluntary redundancy scheme was announced, so I publically dithered over whether to apply while secretly rubbing my hands with glee. I left more or less when I had planned to anyway but with a substantial golden handshake!!
Fishfingersandwichplease · 26/08/2020 14:25

That l voted Conservative in the general election!! They all HATE the Tories....ok might not have been my best move but at the time seemed like a good idea.

user1493201810 · 26/08/2020 14:29

@IfIHadAHeart

That I’ve had sex in the meeting room* with another colleague on a number of occasions 😂

*all surfaces wiped down afterwards!!

Me too! But the boss, not a colleague. And no wiping down Blush
tangycalligrapher · 26/08/2020 14:33

Me too! But the boss, not a colleague. And no wiping down

That's truly vile. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

legalseagull · 26/08/2020 14:33

That I suffer with anxiety. I'm the one the 'out' mental health suffers dump all their shitty/difficult work on. I hard depression for years and no one knew. I put on a good face
