AIBU to fantasise about it? 😂 honestly, what would you do with that money? I wouldn’t want to live a lavish lifestyle, I’d buy a farm house with shit loads of land for my dog. That’s all I want. Then I’d give up work and concentrate on charity work, writing and dog training. I’d be just pleased not to have to work in nursing anymore.

Yeah, sort my closest out and then the rest to set up charities. Redistribution of wealth!

Backtoreality1 · 24/08/2020 12:11

Would stop my current job but work as a consultant for free as I work in international recruitment and some places can't afford to pay for this- and they are usually the most needy. I could afford to travel and promote without costing them a penny.

Would sort out my direct family.

Then charity stuff all over.

Also, the farm would be good, but I would need to pay someone to look after it for me :)

Armi · 24/08/2020 12:19

Would sort out family. Buy a new car. Resign.

Would pay to install Perspex screens and any/all safety measures to keep my teaching colleagues safe.

CatSmith · 24/08/2020 12:38

I’d charter a boat, like as in Below Deck. Give myself a week or two to process the changes in my life.

Shoxfordian · 24/08/2020 12:42

I would go on a permanent holiday as soon as allowed. Buy a new house, sell our current one, buy my dh a flash car, bung a few quid to some friends, all good stufd

FizzyPink · 24/08/2020 12:44

Yesss @CatSmith we’re huge Below Deck fans so would love that!

I’d love to pay for a big family holiday somewhere super luxurious we’d never normally consider. Then buy ourselves a house, pay off our student loans, pay off our parents mortgages etc.

And then maybe spend a year travelling? Quitting our jobs sounds amazing but what would you do all day instead apart from spending your millions? I think I’d need to work out a plan to be productive so my mental health didn’t suffer

SandysMam · 24/08/2020 12:44

I dream of £109,000 I can’t even imagine what £109 million would be like!!!

SandysMam · 24/08/2020 12:44

Although to be fair, £109 quid would be nice at the moment Grin

Shiraznowplease · 24/08/2020 12:45

I would set up my nieces, children and other family members who needed it. I would give up my job and volunteer at the food bank. I would give lots to charity especially smaller ones. For me, I would have a new kitchen 🤩

Totickleamockingbird · 24/08/2020 12:50

I wish they bring that amount down and create more winners instead. But I suspect this is not in their benefit. Why can’t it be 10 winners with £10 million each? Or 20 with £5 million? A life changing sum for each and many will win. If they convert it to that, I know for a fact that a huge number of people will get into lottery. Right now, I can’t be bothered really.

BarbaraofSeville · 24/08/2020 12:55

I agree Totickle. I like what they've done with the main lottery better, where it has to be won every few draws and if there is no jackpot winner, it rolls down to the lower levels and you win more for getting 3, 4 or 5 numbers.

I think the maximum prize is around £10 million which is still a life changing amount for almost everyone. I suppose it wouldn't buy a big house in London, a big holiday home somewhere flash and a private jet, but most people would be able to give up work and do what they want with the money, which is probably the aim for nearly everyone who dreams of winning the lottery.

LEELULUMPKIN · 24/08/2020 12:57

DH and I have always said that if we won that sort of money, one of the first things we would do is take every kid, Teacher, TA's, support staff and their whole families from DS's amazing SEN school on a two week all expenses paid holiday to somewhere like Disneyworld Florida.

We would charter the planes and provide spending money. Those that don't like, want Disney can choose a similar alternative.

We would also hire nannies so the adults could get a total break from caring as and when they choose.

I have so much fun daydreaming about that and how much happiness it would bring to so many special people

Stackys · 24/08/2020 13:11

Oh no I’d still have to work for mental health reasons but it would be doing something I love. I’ve always dreamt of opening an autism centre with a library and cafe etc. All staff would be diagnosed on the spectrum. We’d hold superhero days, Nintendo days ... have shit loads of game stations around, cooking classes, arts and crafts ... for the children with low functioning autism we’d have sensory rooms and offer respite for the parents. I’d bring my dog centre into it too and hold “learn about dogs days” for both autistic and NT kids where they could learn training techniques, have competitions, work towards certificates etc etc .... this would be my absolute dream.

This is why it’s always horrible people who win! The nice ones with lovely plans like you lot never do!

SantaIsReal · 24/08/2020 13:11

I would set up a fund for my kids & my sisters kids.
Get whatever my amazing MIL & FIL anything they want! I do know my FIL wants a little hut near to where he fishes lol
Buy out my next door neighbour and make my house & that house one big one.
Buy my husband his own car.
Get a tummy tuck (thanks kids!Wink)
Donate to various charities.
I don't think I'd stop working though.

cheerfulcoconut · 24/08/2020 13:17

Quit job. Take time finding a new house, decorate it perfectly. See to it that all my family and closest friends were sorted.

But £109m is just too much to comprehend. I love my kids school, but could I keep them there? Surely it would be so difficult to hide that level of wealth that it could be problematic? A few million, buy a house, top up the pension, get a nice car. That would do me.

DieSchottin93 · 24/08/2020 13:19

I'd pay off my student loan, buy my first house outright and probably help DBro pay off his mortgage, get new cars for the family and then I'd start looking into how to build my own bra business empire and become the next Michelle Mone Grin

Oh and also buy a new printer for work because it's crap and needs replacing asap Angry Grin

contrmary · 24/08/2020 13:19

Quit job and pay off my colleagues' mortgages so they can quit too, really fuck up my manager.

RedRumTheHorse · 24/08/2020 13:22

I like this one. Grin
YourObedientServant · 24/08/2020 13:24

OP if you work for the lottery, well done. I've just bought a ticket Grin

FizzyPink · 24/08/2020 13:26

@YourObedientServant me too 😂

Facelikearustytractor · 24/08/2020 13:31

Would probably spend the rest of my life studying. Similar house - small holding for OH to potter around and my son lovesgardening and growing veg. Sort family and friends out. I'd give money to good causes and also help people like us who can't get on the property ladder.

Really not fussed about handbags, yachts and plastic tits. I think when you look at half these people living lavish lifestyles they are all in debt, and once their assets are sold to pay it off they are cash poor.

When you think about this level of wealth though you could quite easily give people money and the knock on effect from that could be terrible. You have to be careful who you help sometimes.

Sparklesocks · 24/08/2020 13:32

My desires are quite simple:

Cake Clear debts and student loans
Cake Buy a nice house outright with no mortgage - large enough for friends and family to stay
Cake Help out friends and family financially
Cake quit my job but maybe take up a few hours volunteering a week

That’s literally it! Anything else would be a bonus Grin of course I’d end up buying nice clothes and doing a ridiculous holiday too (when Covid is less of a threat). But completely that list alone would make me immeasurably happy.

Liverbird77 · 24/08/2020 13:36

I'd buy my best friend a house and set up a pension for her.
I'd move to a lovely big house, which would have all the space and features the family wants.
Private education and trust funds for our children.
Plenty of travel.
Probably buy a flat in Spain because half the family is over there.
I might do another degree for fun.
I'd have a housekeeper, cook, gardener and cleaners, so I wouldn't have to waste time on mundane things.
I'd probably have a PT.

lookatallthosechickens · 24/08/2020 13:37

All of this sounds lovely but the majority of big lottery winners are broke, addicted, miserable, and estranged from friends and family within a couple of years. No thanks.
