AIBU to fantasise about it? 😂 honestly, what would you do with that money? I wouldn’t want to live a lavish lifestyle, I’d buy a farm house with shit loads of land for my dog. That’s all I want. Then I’d give up work and concentrate on charity work, writing and dog training. I’d be just pleased not to have to work in nursing anymore.

He has excellent taste. I could be very happy there.

@lookatallthosechickens

All of this sounds lovely but the majority of big lottery winners are broke, addicted, miserable, and estranged from friends and family within a couple of years. No thanks.
Maybe SOME of the ones that decided to go overly public and can't get enough of the limelight or need to sell a sob story to the papers.

Many you will never hear about and are living perfectly happy. And privately...

SantaClaritaDiet · 25/08/2020 14:44

He has excellent taste. I could be very happy there.

My kids would kill me if I was forcing them to relocate because I like a house I can afford Grin

oh well, I'll buy other kids.

Imonlydoingwhatican · 25/08/2020 14:56

Bought a ticket, honestly i would be happy with enough to pay off debts, anything else is a bonus

The80sweregreat · 25/08/2020 15:32

That 48 hours before you see the money in your account would be so much fun I think.

Buy the above house and a load of furniture to go in it! Also build an amazing playground for our preschooler.

Pay off the mortgage on our flat and gift it to our grown up daughter, she wants to be independent so she can have a hand onto the property ladder and then we would pay for her to have a house when she is settled down and wanting children.

Quit my job with a hell of a lot of enthusiasm. And would leave them a parting gift of a private green day concert (its a work joke!)

Buy my mum her own accessible bungalow. With a totally accessible garden for her as well.

Buy MIL a flat that she has always wanted overlooking the sea.

Pay off my best friends mortgage.

And then take a massive long holiday to digest how to invest the rest.

Stackys · 25/08/2020 15:39

@VinylDetective

He’s a massive history geek and that house belonged to Winifred Holtby. I’m not sure if the neighbours would appreciate a 21 year old student moving in with his girlfriend and their mate though 😂 I’ve told him if I win I’ll pay him an allowance based on his attendance at uni ... cos he’s not dissing about like a spoilt rich kid, he can bloody well finish his masters 😂

The funniest thing was when he checked to see if the post code was in delivery distance of his fave takeaway 🤦‍♀️

This is the house I’m buying. Someone does actually live there but I’m sure I could persuade them to sell up 😉

You've just made me buy a ticket for the first time ever!

I would quit my job in a milli-second, buy a yacht and get myself off round the world then I would set up a research center and do ALL the research in my current field that is sorely lacking. Proper research on useful stuff.

FloreanFortescue · 25/08/2020 15:58

I'd pay off my mortgage and buy our dream home (mega dream home) as we love our home!!

Buy a holiday home (or two!)

Get my mum and dad in a beautiful house.

Set up my brother and DH's sister for life.

Huge donation to the primary school I work at and the local homeless shelter.

Financial advisor.

Update my wardrobe! I'm still wearing my nursing bras - I stopped BFing 2 years ago.

Mainly it would be invested and in trust to our children. I would still work but probably not as a teacher.

welldonesquirrels · 25/08/2020 16:59

Love this thread, it's such a lovely daydream and it's inspired me to do some fantasy apartment shopping in Paris. I think that I'd like to live there for a little while, if money wasn't an object. I could work on my novel and all my little creative projects, DD could go to some cute little private preschool and work on her French, DH could potter around art galleries and drink coffee in little street cafés. We could do that for a year or so and then re-evaluate.

I think this place has a lot of potential. I'd keep all the period features and the old fashioned, slightly run down charm of it and I'd turn one of the bedrooms into a crafts and sewing room: bonjourparis.com/property/sale-3-bedroom-paris-apartment-balcony-7th/

Elsworthy Road, London, NW3

Ill have this actually

Fuck it

IamShark · 25/08/2020 18:13

@cultkid Not much garden ...

SpeedofaSloth · 25/08/2020 18:16

Would sort out family. Buy a new car. Resign.

This, and finish the house refurb we started 9 years ago and still can't quite afford to finish.

The80sweregreat · 25/08/2020 18:18

Cultkid, it is lovely and tastefully done but no swimming pool , unless it's just not mentioned.
Who really does afford these type of places? It goes to show how poor I am when I see places like that!

cultkid · 25/08/2020 18:21

Guys. You're right.
Its average. I got carried away on the toilet hiding from the kids.

I would have a smaller place outside London for say 4 million

Any treats for me? Pool reqd as is an outdoor kitchen xxx

The80sweregreat · 25/08/2020 18:24

28 million for a house! It is insane.

welldonesquirrels · 25/08/2020 18:32

@cultkid You could have this hot mess for a bargain 40 million.

I’ve seen that one before. Strangely it’s been languishing on the market for a very long time. I wonder why ...

hamstersarse · 25/08/2020 18:40

If anyone wins tonight, can they at least post back on here please

cultkid · 25/08/2020 18:41

@welldonesquirrels

Its lovely isn't it
But 40 millions Jesus wept

Icantreachthepretzels · 25/08/2020 18:45

That 48 hours before you see the money in your account would be so much fun I think.

God no - it would be the most anxious and terrifying 48 hours of your life! 48 hours of waiting for it to somehow go wrong, of them to tell you it was all a mistake, or a joke, or a dream!

I wouldn't dare leave the house because knowing my luck I'd get hit by a bus.

I wouldn't dare breathe - never mind look at anything I wanted to buy - until I saw that money safely in my account.

The80sweregreat · 25/08/2020 18:45

40 million! The pool is nice : check out the art work (picture 6! ) Very different.
Not for me though as it's too stately home but the pool is the sort of thing I'd like in my more rural new home! 😀
London prices! Another world.
