Lovehoney calling open crotch knickers "schoolgirl"?

Mxflamingnoravera · 23/08/2020 21:09

Was I BU to submit a review to Lovehoney for the name of this product on their site. (Schoolgirl open back knickers) .
I've called them out on this in their review section.
Just appalling that a site like that which is for adults would use such a term. It's the last time I buy anything from them.
**@LittleGwyneth* It's the same thing as acting out a consensual non-consent fantasy where you've negotiated and agreed to everything beforehand but want to pretend that you're being ravished in the moment*

I can promise you that women who are being raped are not being 'ravished in the moment'. I'm struggling to find words to describe exactly how vile that is to read when you've been on the receiving end of 'non-consent'. You have zero clue as to the reality of that type of situation and clearly don't give two hoots for the experiences of women who do.

This is why it would be nice for adults to deny themselves - because it would show a little empathy to the victims of sexual assault and not minimise that type of offence as a sex game.
You deliberately omitted the word 'consensual' where you quoted me.

Consensual non consent is an incredibly common sexual fantasy for women (including women who've experienced real abuse), and it is completely different from actual non consent. CNC is negotiated between two people and has a safeword.

This is a good and balanced academic study about non-consent fantasies in women: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18321031/

IAmFleshIAmBone · 24/08/2020 17:25

Yuck. The whole schoolgirl fetish is just nasty and creepy. This should not be normalised. Maybe the men and women (?) who are indulging in this should consider what it's like to be an actual schoolgirl afraid to walk to school because of comments from sleazy men driving past in vans etc. Mmm how erotic.

Chocaholic9 · 24/08/2020 17:26

Sorry Gwyneth it is not "super common" for women to watch lesbian porn when straight. I don't know what company you keep but as I said, sounds louche as hell.

Strawberrypip · 24/08/2020 17:27

@LittleGwyneth a little sensitivity wouldnt go a miss. I experienced a sexual assault and can tell you now the thought of acting that out sends me into a state of panic, let alone actually doing it. it gives me flashbacks

LittleGwyneth · 24/08/2020 17:27

@DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult

Thanks for the lesson, it's really not needed though.

Would it be ok for lovehoney to sell 'Rape Pants'?

I did ask before but you seem to have skipped over that part of my post.

What would those look like? Women are subject to sexual abuse wearing a wide variety of underwear. Which should be irrelevant to their experience. As I'm sure you know.

Lovehoney do sell gags, blindfolds, restraints and bondage tape. All of which could be used in an horrific, illegal, disgusting way. Or could be used between a pair of consenting adults having a cracking Saturday night.

englishrosie · 24/08/2020 17:28

I have those knickers from LH. Love them. It’s an adult site, a fantasy. YABU.

LittleGwyneth · 24/08/2020 17:30

@Strawberrypip What would have been a better / more sensitive way to approach that?

@Chocaholic9 According to YouPorn, lesbian is the most popular category for women to watch. Source: www.health.com/sex/why-women-watch-lesbian-porn

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 24/08/2020 17:31

Interesting that you never answered my question.

It wouldn't matter what they look like, what matters is the name. Would you find it acceptable for lovehoney to sell "rape pants" since sometimes consensual adults fantasise about it. Harmless enough right?

Benjispruce2 · 24/08/2020 17:31

Same applies to you @englishrosie

I did reply - see above.
Benjispruce2 · 24/08/2020 17:33

Im not on Twitter but might join just to tweet LH.

Yes, the most popular category for women with no moral compass. Most women I know find porn repulsive and exploitative. You just tell yourself whatever you need to feel 'normal'.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 24/08/2020 17:35

I did reply - see above.

You replied, but you didn't answer my question.

LittleGwyneth · 24/08/2020 17:35

@DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult Oh I see, you think I didn't answer that question.

I would find that odd, because I wouldn't be able to see the logic of doing so. That fantasy, common as it is (FWIW it's not one I find easy to understand personally) doesn't have an 'outfit'.

Do you understand what I'm saying about the handcuffs and gags - that it depends on the context?

IAmFleshIAmBone · 24/08/2020 17:36

Don't join twitter Benji, it's a bit of a cesspit of MAPs and other types who would defend this type of thing til blue in the face...

Griselda1 · 24/08/2020 17:36

Awful and this always needs called out.

Gwyneth is clearly a dude who has no sensitivity and only cares about his todger

MordredsOrrery · 24/08/2020 17:36

@LittleGwyneth

I didn't omit anything; it's there in my post and in your quote of it.

It might be common but it doesn't stop it from being a debasing mockery of the reality of rape.

You said to another poster:

nonconsent fantasies aren't about wanting to experience anything so horrific in real life, they're about wanting the illusion of having given up control

Rape isn't about 'giving up consent' your consent is taken away completely. How lovely for you that you get to 'experience' rape without the horrific bits. I don't think I've ever been as disgusted by posts as I am with yours.

There is no justification you have offered that makes this type of role play ok or anything less than repulsive.

Benjispruce2 · 24/08/2020 17:37

Would LH really want that kind of publicity?

LittleGwyneth · 24/08/2020 17:37

@Chocaholic9 Either your social group is not representative of society in general, or they're not being honest. All research shows that around 1 in 3 women watches porn.

FWIW it's perfectly possible to pay for ethical porn, or to watch socially sourced porn, and keep your conscience clear.

Benjispruce2 · 24/08/2020 17:38

Is schoolgirl porn ethical????

IAmFleshIAmBone · 24/08/2020 17:39

'Ethical porn' Well that just says it all...

MordredsOrrery · 24/08/2020 17:41

@chocaholic9 sorry, missed your post.

Just when I thought it couldn't be any worse. I guess LittleGwyneth is acting out being a rapist then. That's sinking to a whole new level of shit.

LittleGwyneth · 24/08/2020 17:41

@MordredsOrrery

I'm sorry that you're upset by what I wrote, that wasn't my intention. The fact remains the same - it is a common and popular fantasy for women (and for men, to a lesser extent).

FWIW I'm not pulling this out of the air - it's an academically solid, well researched phenomenon. I get the sense that you wouldn't want to read the studies about it because they would be triggering, but they are easy to find on Google if you did.

I think in this instance it's like someone with PTSD from a war zone trying to understand why it's fun for someone else to play Call of Duty on the Playstation.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 24/08/2020 17:42

I'll just have to conclude that you wouldn't find it acceptable then since you're refusing to say yes or no. In which case I'll just have to call you a hypocrite.

Some crimes are ok to have merchandise out there regardless if its detrimental to girls and women, but others are ok.

The fact that you think fantasizing about children is healthy and normal really says all I need to know about you anyway.
